The diversity imperative

Remember when I said the USA is going to lose its next major war? This USAF general is underlining my case:
Improving diversity and acceptance across the Air Force isn’t just about being politically correct, it’s a “warfighting imperative,” USAF Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein said Friday.

Speaking to a room packed full of airmen at AFA's Air Warfare Symposium, Goldfein said for himself and many leaders across the service, it can be hard to recognize issues other airmen face. These leaders need to accept that “we have blinders on as leaders,” and need to reach out to airmen from all backgrounds, races, genders, etc., to point out ways to improve.

“The only way we can see that is to surround ourselves and build teams in ways that others can point them out for us,” Goldfein said, adding that there needs to be a “big tent” culture of acceptance in the Air Force.
The decline and fall of the US empire is going to amuse and mystify historians for centuries, if not millennia. I'm feel as if I'm beginning to understand how Juvenal felt before writing his classic satires.

So I'm guessing that the real problem with the Tailhook affair a while back was the lack of diversity.

Once the new generation of airpeoplethingies get together for acts of mass inappropriate and indecent activities we can celebrate the diversity and inclusion.

Juvenal had something to say about repetitive observations losing the aspect of being cliched because the forcefulness of the observation never abated.

It's never going to become a cliche.

A Satanist Dual-Citizen as USAF Chief of Staff. What could possibly go wrong? Another one of the Stepford generals told the Pelosi Parliament of Whores the other day that the ongoing invasion from the south by military-age males (= "chillren") isn't a military threat. Yet a Marine colonel was relieved of command for saying "faggot". Has any empire deserved total annihilation more than this utterly depraved and wicked one?? Not many for sure. Deus vult.

Satire II summary:

lines 2.1–35 – Pathic men that pretend to be moral exemplars are much worse than those who are open about their proclivities.
lines 2.36–65 – When criticized for her morals, Laronia turns on one of these hypocrites and mocks their open effeminacy.
lines 2.65–81 – Criticism of the effeminate dress of Creticus as he practices law. This moral plague (contagio) spreads like disease passes through an entire herd of livestock or a bunch of grapes.
lines 2.82–116 – Effeminate dress is the gateway to complete gender inversion.
lines 2.117–148 – A noble man, Gracchus, gets married to another man – but such brides are infertile no matter what drugs they try or how much they are whipped in the Lupercalia.
lines 2.149–170 – The ghosts of great Romans of the past would feel themselves contaminated when such Romans descend to the underworld.

There were already two very distinct Air Force's when I got out in 2004. The actual Air Force (Flight Line Ops) which was 98% White. And the Not Flight Line Air Force. Which was a clusterfuck of diversity and women.
This kind of thinking was just starting around then. I can't imagine how bad it is now.

Blogger Doktor Jeep March 04, 2019 1:09 PM

The USAF was always the vanguard of poz in the armed forces overall. I was there in the 90s when this crap started.
I was there when "don't ask don't tell" pretty much had us in a situation where who knew who was screwing who in the ass, or who was climbing whose curtain, and could not do a damned thing about it.
I was there when weirdos would be doing their weirdo things and if you asked about it, they ran to "Social Actions" and got your career ruined - or tried. Yes that crap was happening in the 1990s. The SJWs did not invent it in the last 10 years.
I was there when the black airmen would just thug it up with their yo yo yo shit but God help Bubba when his truck was finally shipped in and it still had the Confederate flag on the bumper. Yes, I saw, firsthand, "Thug culture OK. Your history is not, racist". Side note: one of those thugs ended up shooting a few other airmen to death over some stupid argument a few years later.
I was there when a fellow was falsely accused of rape, spent 14 months doing "weeds & seeds" waiting for his innocence to be proved, and when it was proved, the higher ups were so horrified of a "tailhook scandal" they wanted to send an innocent man to prison anyway "because time and money went into an investigation". Somewhere some commander with balls intervened. I did't reenlist because of that case. So did a dozen other men.

So yeah. We're screwed. All of our other mistakes are covered up well with air power. We're going to find out the hard way how you can't win a war with Ritalin-kids and drones.

The AF really needs to be dismantled in its entirety and rebuilt. It is overmanned due to overspecialization, has a toxic leadership culture, and employs many redundant concepts logistically that just made me dumbfounded every time I had to interact with them. Small basic item that I like to use as an indicator of how the AF likes to do things their own way even when they don't have to is the paper form that is used as a receipt for fueling an aircraft with fuel. Everyone else in the DoD uses DOD form 1898. The AF uses AF Form 1994. Why? Who knows.

I managed the squadron fuel operating fund for 3 years during my squadron tour, so I had to keep track of those receipts, and it just made me shake my head when I would look at those silly AF receipts.

Later on, when I got to Kadena AFB on Okinawa for my last shore tour, I saw how the Navy/Marine unit I was with did the same job the AF did with a tenth of the people, and again, I just shook my head.

As far as I am concerned, the AF might as well not even wear a uniform, and really should just be folded back into the Army entirely.

Blogger AzDesertRat March 04, 2019 5:30 PM

Yep, was a Crew Chief in the fighter world. Your story doesn't surprise me in the least. I only ever had to work with a handful of women and diversity. Most of the women were spread ass supply clerks, whose jobs could've and should've been done by civilian contractors. The few that actually were on the flight line (less than 5 that I can recall out of 4 different squadrons I was in) were massive liabilities that had to be babysat. One somehow qualified as a weapons troop, but didn't have the upper body strength to do half the tasks that a male weapons guy would be expected to complete, so that weapons crew was 4 people, instead of the usual 3.
When I went up for Below The Zone (for the Non-AF guys, it is a program where "exemplary" E-3's are selected by a board of senior enlisted and officers to be promoted to E-4 early) one of the E-3's in the pool with me was a female avionics troop. Our flight E-7 took all of us aside the day before the board and flat out stated that out of the 4 available slots we were really only competing for 3 because she would get one automatically. He was not lying.
Every non-white crew chief I saw, except for a handful of Puerto Rican guys, would find a way to get assigned off the flight line as quickly as possible. They always inevitably got a medical waiver or had some personal issue that required them to sit in dispatch behind the radio all day.
We had a black female student pilot come through our training pipeline one time. You would not have believed the hoopla surrounding her. It was funny as hell when she finally got busted out of the service for repeated fraternization because she couldn't stay out of the enlisted barracks parties on the weekends.

Blogger Sargent.matrim March 04, 2019 6:02 PM

I have a question for the experts here.

Suppose the USA decided to go purely defensive and brought all the military home to defend north America. Further, suppose that the AF was put back to the old ways of merit based enlistment and advancement. Suppose also that the AF was cut to 1/3 of today's manpower.

Could that vastly reduced AF defend us? Remember, no women or mystery meat needed.

Not really, USN takes the primary role of defense in that scenario, since the only way over is via sea. USAF would serve primarily as an interceptor force should that happen, something which it already does, but is mainly done by Air National Guard units rather than active duty squadrons.

I'll add one other observation. All the services are politicized at the Flag level. But the USAF is by far the worst. They've got a hell of a lot of talent at the O-4 and O-5 levels...all of whom are eased out onto the street at the 20-25 year mark. Generals are expected to spout the party line, and nothing else.

"As far as I am concerned, the AF might as well not even wear a uniform, and really should just be folded back into the Army entirely."

I have been saying the same thing for 20 years. The USAF suffered the highest per-capita casualty rate in Iraq despite the fact that they were NOT losing aircraft, nor taking excessive casualties due to indirect harrassment fire (mortars, rockets). No, the problem was that on the few occassions when they sent a truck convoy out the gate, it was sure as shit going to get shot up, because the USAF has ENTIRELY NEGLECTED to teach both their enlisted personnel and non-flying officers about ANY threat that does not come from the sky.

They lost 14 men KIA and many more wounded, due to NOT fixing a security flaw (which I, and confirmed by my company commander, identified as a perfect truck-bomb attack point at the Khobat Towers housing facility in Dhahran) ... .3 YEARS after I and my company commander reported it to the base headquarters.

Apparently, USAF officers don't even bother to walk the perimeter of a base when they take over as commander of such.

The USAF leadership has been an active agent AGAINST the proper training of their own personnel for decades. Yes, they need to be folded back into the Army (the Army now does realize the importance of air power, unlike back in 1920, and there's no reason for it to be a seperate service arm, other than that the British Commonwealth countries have their aircraft squadrons in a separate service arm). Close Air Support is an important thing, and the high ups in the USAF absolutely DETEST that mission -- yet refuse to give up the A-10 to the Army, despite wanting nothing to do with the A-10, which is the best close air support aircraft ever made.

Slaughter every non-flying USAF officer above the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, and fold the service into the army. Long range assets like B-2's and B-52's can go to the Navy -- it would be a good fit for their force-projection missions.
