Huzzah! Impossibly busy Vox has bookclub tonight!

Blogger Gregory the Tall June 25, 2019 8:38 AM

@1 Re Vox being busy: What would you prefer - lazing in an armchair for days reading 5 completed volumes of the "Arts of Dark and Light" series or Vox making the rubble bounce and giving us important things to discuss and think about every new day? As much as I miss the ("extended") sequel to Throne of Bones I have decided I greatly prefer the second option!

Blogger VD June 25, 2019 8:41 AM

Honestly, I'd rather get AODAL done, but I haven't been given the option.

Blogger A rebel without a General June 25, 2019 8:54 AM

Why not both?

Blogger Gregory the Tall June 25, 2019 8:58 AM

@4 Try and find a general to explain to you what is physically possible for a fighter.

Blogger Ray - SoCal June 25, 2019 9:03 AM

I’m assuming the growth of unauthorized has been huge and unexpected, reducing time to work on other projects for VD, such as Comics, not to mention AODAL. It’s exciting and amazing all the different cultural game changers he’s creating.

3: c
4: b

Good questions. Mere Christianity is part of one of my sons' curriculum this year, so I'll use these for that. Thanks for putting in the time, Vox. Amazing how much you do.

After listening to Sunday's Darkstream I came up with a multiple choice question myself:
Question: What is the meaning of Dark Vapour?
a. The way R2D2 pronounced Darth Vader's name having developed a speech impediment due to a partial meltdown of his motherboard.
b. A colloquial expression used to signify Ben Shapiro's mouth odour?
c. The missing theoretical element that will allow physicists to finally explain and reconstruct in a consistent fashion what happened billions of years before the Big Bang.
d. all of the above.

Blogger binks webelf June 25, 2019 9:32 AM

@2 "Vox being busy: What would you prefer"

Great Greg: I was giving Vox an indirect compliment. In theory, I'd like a clone army of Voxes to complete all the tasks and opportunities he has at hand, but I'm not sure the universe could take that many Supreme Evil Dark Lords Of Evil in existence all at once. Instant implosion into a singularity.

So I will pray for the single Vox (and his family and tasks), and enjoy the fruits thereof as they appear.

Blogger dienw June 25, 2019 9:37 AM

Question: What is the meaning of Dark Vapour?

c. But a cynic would declare that the "scientists" are attempting to bring back aether without refuting Einstein.

WinningforCoins, what is your question about 5. Is it which singe answer to select, and if so, what is confusing you?

Blogger VD June 25, 2019 10:44 AM

The Law of Nature exists and it is broken

My understanding is that the Law of Nature is not broken. Rather, humans often choose to break the Law.

Blogger SirHamster June 25, 2019 3:08 PM

peacefulposter wrote:Rather, humans often choose to break the Law.
It is the Law of Human Nature, in contrast to the law of physics or the nature of animals.

Cats behave like cats, obeying their cat nature. There's no choice to not follow the law of physics. But humans have a sense of a Law we are bound to follow and respect, while not living up to it.

I finished this book a while ago because I got tired of waiting. If my memory serves, it should be b,d,a,b,b.
The structure of these questions gives away the answers, but it's not too obvious as to give you a free ride. I would like to see the trap questions start showing up soon, but the Dread Ilk is too smart to fall for those.

Blogger DD June 25, 2019 5:44 PM

Because humans are rationalizing creatures, rather than rational creatures, as pointed out by Vox Day in times past.

The whole basis of the Talmud.

Blogger Door in the Hill June 25, 2019 8:32 PM

Thank you for the Darkstream tonight. I read Mere Christianity a little while back after being prodded here, and am working on the New Testament now. So far I can't call myself a Christian, but I've been told my prayers to be able to recognize and follow the Good, the Beautiful, and the True are a near-guaranteed way to get there.

Thank you for your part in maintaining and furthering the Good, the Beautiful, and the True.

One opinion: An excuse's foundations lies in acknowledgement of one's current unfairness. Excuses are not given not animals (nor trees, etc.) but to other humans; all live under this Standard.

Personally, this lightens the load of my life. I used to hold myself in contempt, and at times others, when I found excuses. This is simply a symptom that the potential is within our grasp. It's a conversation starter, not ender, for those wanting to move to the next level of life.
