False flag, take two

There is literally zero chance that Iran was involved in any of the six recent attacks in the Gulf of Oman:
The Middle East is on high alert today after two oil tankers were hit by explosions in the Gulf of Oman. One of the ships, the MT Front Altair, caught fire after a suspected torpedo attack and Iran says it has sunk - although the ship's Norwegian owner has denied the claim.

The Altair and the Kokuka Courageous were evacuated after sending distress signals - picked up by the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet - with 44 sailors rescued.

Britain has urged 'extreme caution' amid high tensions in the Middle East, just weeks after four tankers were attacked in a mysterious act of sabotage off the UAE coast which Washington believes was the work of Iran.... Iran said its search and rescue teams had picked up the 44 sailors from the two ships and taken them to the port of Jask. Norway has advised its ships to keep out of Iranian waters while Tehran has called the explosions 'suspicious'.
It is considerably more likely that the US Navy or the Israeli Navy were involved, although the most likely explanation is bombs planted by independent contractors. The weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were fake. The poison gas bombings in Syria were fake. These attacks in the Gulf are fake too.

If Iran decides to attack shipping in the Gulf, there will be dozens of ships sinking, including warships. These little acts of sabotage are obvious false flags conducted by those trying to provoke war between the US and Iran.

UPDATE: It doesn't appear either Iran or Japan are buying it:
Iran’s foreign minister has labeled the reported attack on two “Japan-related” oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman as “suspicious,” occurring just as Japanese Prime Minister Abe came to Tehran for major talks. Expressing his misgivings on Twitter, Javad Zarif noted that the incidents on the two vessels on Thursday, one of which had been reportedly struck by a torpedo, had occurred as Abe sat down for “extensive and friendly” discussions with Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
This may have actually been more of a warning to Japan than an attempt to bang the war drum.

Obvious false flag is obvious. Though let’s not discount the Chinese they also want the US to lose more of its remaining power as soon as it can. If their actions in Hong Kong are a clue they are impatient Beijing couldn’t wait even 50 years to assume total control.

Blogger Thad Tuiol June 13, 2019 7:12 AM

False flags these days are just pathetic - they're just not even trying anymore. What happened to the shows they put on in the good ol' days like Pearl Harbor and 9/11?

Blogger VD June 13, 2019 7:13 AM

I doubt the Chinese are behind it. They don't want any violent conflict with the US military now because time is on their side. Also, I think they would be much more competent and would actually sink whatever ships they attacked.

Blogger The Gaelic Lands June 13, 2019 7:16 AM

Like the Christchurch shooter. After exiting mosque, starts to head back toward mosque entrance, but the car in prime getaway location immediately by entrance is now *moving*. So what does shooter do? He decides to go for a stroll for 30 seconds or so, shoot at the wind, then head back to entrance once the car has safely disappeared, knocking over previously upright road cone. We all even saw the Make, Model and car reg: FQH875.

Blogger Azimus June 13, 2019 7:27 AM

When this doesn't work, they will carpet bomb a birthday party of blind children at a petting zoo and claim it was Iran.

Not having given it a ton of thought but running it through the cui bono machine, is this some kind of attempt to keep the price of oil propped up?

Blogger McChuck June 13, 2019 7:34 AM

WMDs (chemical and biological) in Iraq were real. Yeah, I know, nobody cares what the truth is any more.

At this point, I'm all for leaving Iran alone, and letting them nuke New York, San Francisco, London, and Haifa.

Blogger maniacprovost June 13, 2019 7:35 AM

To be fair, they didn't actually plant fake WMDs in Iraq. I find it mind boggling that they (David Frum?) were able to create the impression among average voters that Iraq had a huge stockpile of atom bombs or something, and that it mattered. I didn't even realize that was how the TV media spun it at the time.

From my reading, it was pretty clear the intent of liberating Iraq was to destabilize the Middle East and hope for a more pro-US liberal order. Any leftover 1980's chemical weapons were more of a "by the way, this is worrisome" thing. I guess I take things too literally and didn't make the connections they ((?)) wanted me to.

I heard we did find some empty rockets buried somewhere eventually. By that point it was irrelevant. We were in the "Dude, you ran on a platform of no nation building" phase.

Why are the false flags ALWAYS boats? Is it because the visual is more impressive? I would think a burning building like a marine barracks or an embassy would be more cost effective.

No, they were not. More to the point, there were no nukes, which was the whole point of the exercise in the first place.

Blogger Silent Draco June 13, 2019 8:20 AM

Non-state actors, proxy-state actors like elements of DPRK intelligence under Chinese influence, ISIS that wants to hit, heck, maybe the Joker who just wants to see it all burn. I'll wait the SDL's prescribed three, or more like seven, days to allow more details to leak out. The web has a lot of intermixed strands, and it's difficult to determine who is signaling and being signaled.

maniacprovost, find a journalist and producer of your choice, and remind them that they still use a horribly corrosive substance, hydronium hydroxide, in our water supplies. Yes, they are dumb enough to not realize that takes the water out of water.

Blogger Johnny June 13, 2019 8:21 AM

Given they have been doing this stuff so much, there must be some accumulation of distrust by the American public. If they took a poll, I wonder how many people will take the news a true on the face. The fake news thing is getting some traction.

It surely does smell like a false flag to me, but given the number of players in the Middle East and the easy recourse to violence, there is no way of knowing who. As it doesn't serve the interests of the Iranian government it seems unlikely it would be by them.

Blogger Blaidd June 13, 2019 8:26 AM

Technically they were there; however, all of the WMD in Iraq were the ones the US gave to Iraq during the Iraq/Iran war.

Notice how we have had two stories recently about how Kim Jong-Un has executed people, the first of which turned out to false. The second, where the victim was supposedly dropped in a piranha tank, sounds fake to me.

There are seriously messed up forces in our government that want us to go to war with Iran (Russia), and North Korea (China).

Blogger KPKinSunnyPhiladelphia June 13, 2019 10:27 AM

C'mon, we're all guessing here. So I'll play along.

My guess is that that mines were the cause of these explosions. Such non-lethal, non-sinkable explosions against these huge enormous tankers have occurred in the past. And in the past, the United States Navy has proceeded to escort these vessels, presumably with mine sweepers along, and done so for short time periods.

My guess is we'll do the same this time. My guess is nothing to see here.

But, hey, I've been wrong in the past, and I can be wrong in the future.

Blogger Unknownsailor June 13, 2019 10:32 AM

Chemical weapons WERE found in Iraq (primarily mustard, iirc), but they were old stock left over from the conflict with Iran, and not in large quantities. This never really made it into the large news organizations, for obvious reasons (Bush 43 was hated, and no news that made him look good was ever reported willingly) , but it did break into the blogosphere, which I read pretty extensively back in the day.

For an audience as informed as this one, I would think that this would be old news....

As for the tankers, obvious false flag is the best false flag.

The term WMD was specifically crafted at the time, to deceive people into believing that Saddam had nukes. And yes, many people, including US Senators and State Department officials, made the claim publicly. Their credibility is, I suppose, subjective.

Chemical weapons WERE found in Iraq

Chemical weapons are not "weapons of mass destruction". That revised definition was an attempt to cover up for the complete absence of the purported Iraqi nuclear weapons program.

I'd rather not argue about WMDs and Iraq, who had what, when etc... too politicized and too many terms not defined so cross talking. The Western forces did not find what or amounts of things that they thought they would and it became a political issue. It should have been an intelligence issue with large numbers of the intelligence agencies being retired/laid off for yet another colossal mistake. That said, Bush was repeatedly briefed on the issues of Iraq by the intelligence community and he repeatedly fired/ignored them, implementing his idiotic democracy will win over everyone policy. We still haven't been able to undo the havoc to the US caused by the young boy Bush, and the ME will not recover for decades.

Blogger justaguy June 13, 2019 2:19 PM

I have no idea who did what to the tankers, nor do I have any idea of what intell/surveillance the US has in the area. There are so many parties with the capability to do these attacks that we may never know, regardless of what pronouncements are made. The world has been too lax with the security of the oil tankers and now finally someone is taking advantage of the weaknesses. Too many non-government actors have this capability and the chaos of the area means that governments that could control these parties aren't able to. Too many wild areas for bases, somewhat like Afghanistan before 9/11.

Yep, they seem to love playing "let's you and him fight!" — it would be really interesting if their false-flag activities came to public light that made A.I.P.A.C. definitionally an organization supporting Terrorist organizations along with all the legal fallout that would have.
