Pizzagate, reconsidered

Ron Unz reconsiders the plausibility of Pizzagate in light of the Epstein and McCain revelations:
Given my awareness of this remarkable track-record of major media cover-ups, I’m ashamed to admit that I had paid almost no attention to the Jeffrey Epstein case until it exploded across our national headlines earlier this month, suddenly becoming one of the biggest news stories in our country.

For many years, reports about Epstein and his illegal sex-ring had regularly circulated on the fringes of the Internet, with agitated commenters citing the case as proof of the dark and malevolent forces that secretly controlled our corrupted political system. But I almost entirely ignored these discussions, and I’m not sure that I ever once clicked on a single link.

Probably one reason I paid so little attention to the topic was the exceptionally lurid nature of the claims being made. Epstein was supposedly an enormously wealthy Wall Street financier of rather mysterious personal background and source of funds, who owned a private island and an immense New York City mansion, both regularly stocked with harems of underage girls provided for sexual purposes. He allegedly hobnobbed on a regular basis with Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Harvard’s Alan Dershowitz, and numerous other figures in the international elite, as well as a gaggle of ordinary billionaires, frequently transporting those individuals on his personal jet known as “the Lolita Express” for the role it played in facilitating illegal secret orgies with young girls. When right-wing bloggers on obscure websites claimed that former President Clinton and the British Royals were being sexually serviced by the underage girls of a James Bond super-villain brought to life, I just assumed those accusations were the wildest sort of Internet exaggeration....

Around the same time that I first became familiar with the details of the Pizzagate controversy, the topic also started reaching the pages of my morning newspapers, but in an rather strange manner. Political stories began giving a sentence or two to the “Pizzagate hoax,” describing it as a ridiculous right-wing “conspiracy theory” but excluding all relevant details. I had an eery feeling that some unseen hand had suddenly flipped a switch caused the entire mainstream media to begin displaying identical signs reading “Pizzagate Is False—Nothing To See There!” in brightly flashing neon. I couldn’t recall any previous example of such a strange media reaction to some obscure controversy on the Internet.

Articles in the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times also suddenly appeared denouncing the entirety of the alternative media—Left, Right, and Libertarian—as “fake news” websites promoting Russian propaganda, while urging that their content be blocked by all patriotic Internet giants such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google. Prior to that moment, I’d never even heard the term “fake news” but suddenly it was ubiquitous across the media, once again almost as if some unseen hand had suddenly flipped a switch.

I naturally began to wonder whether the timing of these two strange developments was entirely coincidental. Perhaps Pizzagate was indeed true and struck so deeply at the core of our hugely corrupted political system that the media efforts to suppress it were approaching the point of hysteria.

Not long afterward, Tara McCarthy’s fine Pizzagate videos were purged from YouTube. This was among the very first instances of video content being banned despite fully conforming to all existing YouTube guidelines, another deeply suspicious development.

I also noticed that mere mention of Pizzagate had become politically lethal. Donald Trump had selected Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, as his National Security Advisor, and Flynn’s son served as the latter’s chief of staff. The younger Flynn happened to Tweet out a couple of links to Pizzagate stories, pointing out that the accusations hadn’t yet been actually investigated let alone disproven, and very soon afterward, he was purged from the Trump transition team, foreshadowing his father’s fall a few weeks later. It seemed astonishing to me that a few simple Tweets about an Internet controversy could have such huge real-life impact near the top of our government.

The media continued its uniform drumbeat of “Pizzagate Has Been Disproven!” but we were never explained how or by whom, and I was not the only individual to notice the hollowness of such denunciations. An award-winning investigative journalist named Ben Swann at a CBS station in Atlanta broadcast a short television segment summarizing the Pizzagate controversy and noting that contrary to widespread media claims, Pizzagate had neither been investigated nor debunked.
Here is my prediction: Pizzagate will, sooner or later, be largely confirmed to be true, most likely sans a few of the more lurid and cartoonish elements, and, as with the Epstein case, will turn out to be more sinister and of larger scale than even the conspiracy theorists initially believed.

As always, you can trust the lies and illogic to guide you toward the truth. Which is to say, once you know someone is lying, once you see that someone is presenting an obviously false syllogism, you know there is a specific truth that they are desperately trying to hide. The fact that the oft-repeated claim that Pizzagate has been "debunked" without any of the so-called debunkings being at all logically coherent, let alone conclusive, is sufficient to indicate that there are specific truths being hidden underneath the denials.

Imagine if we were to utilize this debunking logic in other scenarios.
  • Major Premise: Conspiracy theorists claim Donald Trump is the President of the United States.
  • Minor Premise: A crazy man tried to attack Donald Trump at a rally in Vandalia, Ohio.
  • Conclusion: Therefore, the claim that Donald Trump is President of the United States is debunked!
Precisely how low does your IQ have to be to find that syllogism to be not only compelling, but conclusive?

It's very clear at this point that the primary function of the largest international organizations is to service and keep-hidden human trafficking on the scale of the old western slave trades.

Think about how utterly boring it must be to live at the apex of a the most prosperous and peaceful point in world history: These people have no way to experience even the slightest existential thrills.

I suspect engaging in history's most vilified behaviors (slavery and child sex trafficking) has become the "in thing" to service this psychological need for the billionaire with no other avenues left to take real risks.

Blogger Jab Burrwalky July 29, 2019 11:15 AM

My favorite "debunk" of Pizzagate was that some "journalist' called the owner of the pizza parlor at the center of the scheme and asked him if global elites were using his business as a pedophile front, and he said "no." The "journalist" loudly proclaimed it was absolute proof the whole story was phony.

Because a guy servicing a bunch of untouchable global elites in illegal and outrageous behavior would totally fess up to the first stranger that called to ask...

Feels to me like this high degeneracy and demonic sexuality is useful for the real power brokers to keep a whip hand over the ostensible 'elite' and one another.

If everyone's on film doing something unspeakable, that's some powerful compulsion to act 'the right way'.

Blogger Kraemer July 29, 2019 11:19 AM

@1 very possible. I'm mostly in favor of the sin explanation that these people succumbed to their greed, envy etc and that got them to the top in this world. Now all that's left is total depravity. But urs makes just as much sense, only I go the religious route

@3 when you reach global financial hegemon status, the ultimate control is the hired international hit-man, the convenient jet crash or terrorist attack, or the convenient low-scale regional war.

The "I have film" stuff is for low-level functionaries such as bought mayoral, law enforcement, or legislative officials.

Blogger Kraemer July 29, 2019 11:21 AM

@5 I suspect that the real hierarchy is barely parallel to the official one. It can be the case that certain POTUSes and certain city councilmen are on the same rank in their twisted world, thus the same type of tape can control both

Blogger wahr01 July 29, 2019 11:22 AM

A reminder of the scale of what is going on here:

Epstein became one of the world's richest men off of this kind of trafficking, and he is described as a mere facilitator.. a glorified secretary.

I suspect the vetting required for his guards is higher than secret service agents that he's even still alive, as this is the type of scandal that attracts things like errant cruise missiles to prison blocks.

Space.

Blogger Whitecloak July 29, 2019 11:32 AM

@6 -That- idea reminds me a bit of how the "darkfriends" (Satan worshippers) operated in the Wheel of Time. A lowly beggar might be a high level functionary for darkness within evil circles. Hell, the truly high up seemed to revel in the idea of putting their 'elite'/noble servants under the control of such persons as a humiliation ritual.

A POTUS or city councilman might very well rank below a gutter rat within the circles of organized wickedness.

Blogger swiftfoxmark2 July 29, 2019 11:37 AM

One could argue that billionaires and multi-millionaires merely are looking for extreme thrills as their lives of legal hedonism have reached peak levels.

I doubt that is entirely true. Keep in mind, most of these men are working nearly every day, nearly all day long. They don't pull the standard 9-5 routine that most of us do. They're spending much of their day working for hours and hours on end. They barely have time for hedonistic pleasures in most cases.

Never make excuses for evil. The ultra-rich definitely have more means to commit atrocious acts against God, but not all of them do so and many were like Donald Trump, more content on finding enjoyment in their work than finding enjoyment with sexual perversions.

Blogger wahr01 July 29, 2019 11:40 AM

@10

Of course there are other legal ways to seek thrills that are instead dictated by the limits of engineering and technology (e.g. space)

But the important aspect of explicitly illegal and publicly deplorable hobbies for these people is the power-trip.

Blogger Legacy16 July 29, 2019 11:52 AM

Naturally, the "investigative reporters" "debunking" Pizzagate don't bother examining Instagram accounts, the FBI's list of pedophile-related symbols and language, the Wikileaks emails from Podesta and others using this exact same language (which is incoherent in any other context). Idiots, shills, or co-conspirators, all of them.

Blogger Jeff aka Orville July 29, 2019 11:54 AM

All this slavery business, of which the United States is a major player, reminds me even more of Revelation 18:11-13 describing the Bablyonian system that sells everything and... slaves, and souls of men.

"I had an eery feeling that some unseen hand had suddenly flipped a switch caused the entire mainstream media to begin displaying identical signs reading “Pizzagate Is False—Nothing To See There!” in brightly flashing neon."

That's exactly what happened. James Alefantis did an interview where he said Comet Pizza didn't have a basement, and the entire MSM declared Pizzagate had been debunked, quoting Alefantis and each other. Including Fox News, which allowed them all to declare it a far-right thing so mainstream conservatives wouldn't touch it. None of them actually investigated it; they couldn't possibly have done so that quickly. Nothing has ever been "debunked" so quickly and uniformly, not even 9/11 Truthers.

What Pizzagate actually is is a huge pile of information, most of it gathered off the web from social media and other places, plus connections drawn between the pieces when possible, with help from other sources like the Podesta email leaks. To call it "debunked" is a category error; it doesn't even make sense. The pictures of spirit cooking gatherings, or kids breaking open a pinata full of condoms, exist. People can disagree about what they mean, but that doesn't make it go away.

Blogger JG July 29, 2019 12:03 PM

The most ridiculous "debunking" of PizzaGate was Hillary Clinton and a MSM reporter laughing about how PizzaGate couldn't possibly be true because Comet Pizza in DC didn't have a basement.

The video is available in Cerno's documentary "Hoaxed".

Blogger [Redacted] July 29, 2019 12:07 PM

It probably isn't true that the Washington DC metro extend the additional mile below Connecticut Ave (from the DuPont Circle) to a station beneath Comet Ping Pong pizza. A giant X marks the spot there, and the giant pentagram drawn in the roads around the White House seems to invite suspicion.

However, it is a fact that children disappear at a much higher rate in the areas around DC than the national average, and dark rituals happening in swamp tunnels seems more likely than not.

Blogger Noah B. July 29, 2019 12:08 PM

The power trip and thrills are certainly part of it, but there's enough evidence to suggest that pedophilia has become a mechanism of establishing mutual trust between wealthy globalist criminals. It's simultaneously a mechanism for new entrants to increase their access to power and to be blackmailed by the upper tier of leadership.

I read some gossip recently that alleged that one Lem Billings, a Kennedy trusted righthand man/steward/bagman, was potentially a royal catamite for JFK and after Bobby was killed helped raise Bobby Jr. and potentially became a lover of the teenage Bobby Jr. That is a disturbing thought. Hopefully it's just busybody gossip. Some of this gossip was asserted by good ol' Gore Vidal, writer of Myra Breckenridge, that notorious 1960s book about a transexual rapist and destroyer of the "all American male" that alleged everything that the ruling classes now demands us to accept as true about homosexuality and transexuality. Actually it's a bit stunning the extent of sexual oddities that were present in the Kennedy White House. Now I'm beginning to suspect Vidal's portrait of the American elite was right - the ruling classes are all in some giant bizarre sexual bacchernalia. God help us. It's a Caligulan court at this point.

This. Getting people to do what you want them to is only the first display of power. Getting them to do the things they most don't want to is the second. The third is controlling successively more powerful people in this way.

Conveniently, people who will do anything for power are a bare step above the typical crack addict when it comes to impulse control, so many or perhaps most would-be politicians are easily ensnared, propagating the corrupted inversive power structure.

Blogger Newscaper312 July 29, 2019 3:38 PM

#38 Nate,

That's sort of my take on when some on the right goes hog wild with some more elaborate conspiracy theories.
1)There is a natural tendency to latch on something very black and white, so if you could just make the normies *see*,it would be a slam dunk to take the bad guys out. It is very seductive. I think the Obama birth certificate stink was somewhat along those lines -- the more important issue was that the guy is not truly American in even the normal sense much less Vox's. But that is murkier and a tougher sell, and no obvious way to correct it, so a presumably more straightforward constitutional "gotcha" re not natural born was very appealing.
2) This can have two problems: when the most serious, outrageous conspiracy claims are arguably shot down, the supporters can despair while the bad guys ose on the fence are given the excuse they want to go back to sleep and ignore the nutcases -- even though the CT proponents are actually correct on the real underlying issues.
I take under advisement Vox's views on effective rhetoric, and that over the top may still be perfectly useful for rallying your own side, or antagonizing the other side as much as attempting to persuade the 'moderates'.

Example re: 911 -- some people believe it was somehow an inside job, demo'ed, etc with all the usual CT-type holes waiting to be poked, when the truth is probably simpler: forces in this country and (((another))) saw it as a crisis to not let go to waste in service to their agendas. Or even with "the Mossad did it" strain of 911 CT -- a far, far more plausible CT than them successfully manipulating a bunch of radicalized Saudis, or Bin Laden, would be the more pedestrian although still devastating alternative where someone in Mossad caught discovered the 911 and someone in command decided to bury the intel instead of warning us. But people don't talk about that.

How would you ever disprove something like the Comet Pizza Pedo hub? All it would take is for them to move operations and present evidence becomes hard to find, it doesn't debunk anything.

Besides that, the pedos always claim there was no pedoring. Do you seriously believe that if, on day one, the entire world said, "Nah pizzagate's bullshit" there would be more investigation into pedos rather than less? The light the pizzagate movement is putting on pedos and pedo operations around the world along with the positive motivation to find more is already worth its weight in gold.

The common factor in saying, 'comet pizza is disproven' and 'they claim that there is no pedoring because of comet pizza' is in listening to the media about it. Only the media keeps trying to hammer the term 'debunked' and 'clearly there's no pedos because we said it was debunked', so stop listening to them, stop believing them and stop using them as a metric to how much pizzagate motivaties/demotivates pedo hunters and their support.

Lastly, a good way to catch conspirators is to catch one of their mistakes. If you force them to move operations constantly or keep them on their backheels about a topic there's more chance of a slip up. More pressure is needed about the pedo rings and comet pizza, not less, because you increase the chances you find some kind of thread somewhere. And you know the pedos aren't using pizzagate as a paper target for the hunters because they keep trying to say it's debunked. If it was a safe topic, like you are saying they made it into so they could escape unscathed, they would be encouraging pizzagate talk not trying to squash it! "Approved opposition" our gracious host Vox calls it, like the Tea Party or Occupy Wallstreet, while pizzagate is being treated more like Q by the media.

Blogger Damelon Brinn July 29, 2019 5:38 PM

Pizzagate is called that because it started when someone noticed an odd email to John Podesta about a handkerchief left at Comet Pizza with a "map that seems pizza-related" on it. As people tried to figure out what that might mean, they noticed some odd things about Comet, like a surprising amount of satanic imagery on the walls for a family pizza joint, and some odd suggestive wording in testimonials about the place online. They noticed that Alefantis had been named one of the 50 most influential people in D.C., quite an achievement for a restaurant owner. They noticed FBI-identified pedophile symbols on other small businesses in the neighborhood. They noticed weird pictures from Alefantis and friends of things like kids with money taped to them. They noticed the disturbing art the Podestas collect. They noticed that Nancy Pelosi also owned a pizza shop called Goat Hill Pizza. They kept noticing more and more things that looked like they could be related.

Now at some point, some people may have speculated about whether children were trafficked through Comet Pizza using the basement Alefantis said he stored tomato sauce in, which it turns out was probably under a different nearby business he owned (the photo he called a "killroom"). But that speculation was never "Pizzagate" or even a significant part of it. It was just the strawman they used to discredit the whole thing, and if no one had made that speculation, they would have come up with something else.

Personally, I always figured Comet was just a meeting/planning place and the transfers happened somewhere more private, hence the need for a map. But speculation about individual elements isn't as important as the whole.

Blogger Eric Waite July 29, 2019 6:18 PM

I'm sure a large part of the reason most people will accept the "these are not the droids you're looking for, move along" routine is that the truth is so vile and disgusting that they desperately want it to be untrue.

@English Tom
That also goes to the human tendency to dig one's heels into a choice rather than admit you've been fooled.
It's what gets rubes to blow their mortgage payment and max the credit cards in Vegas after they lose their entire bank account.

Nothing about this has been debunked. There might not be any proof of a crime in this video but there is clearly some sick stuff going on. People speaking in code, jokes about euthanizing a baby, artwork of a circle of adults standing around a child... lots and lots of smoke here.

Alan Dershowitz apparently clerked for Judge Bazelon on the DC Circuit:

I think Unz missed that in his last article.

@38 Nate -

Of course they're trying to use it as a tool, with varying degrees of success depending on who you talk to. This in itself doesn't count as "disproving" the claim in the slightest. As to exactly how, I tend to agree with Damelon @49. Details are doubtless not exactly as portrayed by the original narrative, but there's obviously something going on that is terribly off about these people and the symbols they use, and the odd communications between them, and the strange acts they featured. Too many weird coincidences for me to buy.

And as Balam said--easy for them to shift operations quickly once suspicion fell on them. We may never know the details, but there are obviously some sick minds involved, and the more pieces fall into place (like Epstein, etc...) the more damning it looks all the time.

The whole comet pizza thing was ridiculous and was disproven. And since that one ridiculous claim was disproven..

*pinches brow of nose*

"disproven" by the very same media who have assured you for three years running that Muh Russia is a real thing.

just an FYI, the basement was known to be another building from the get go. iirc, it was supposed to be some weird museum that didn't seem to actually be open.

perhaps some pizzagaters got confused, that happens often enough.

more likely, somebody was trying to cover tracks by conflating facts from one story onto another one.

If people begin to dismiss you as a conspiracy theorist then you know you are on the right track. Cognitive dissonance is a helluva drug.

The problem is that there are many who push nonsensical conspiracy theories who are only serving to muddy the waters.

False dichotomy.

Which in many cases is intentional. Some folks are running ops. The evidence lies in the tactics and patterns used.

Except Alefantis had given an earlier interview discussing how they use their basement for storage.

I always thought that the hanky was said to be map related because M.A.P., or Minor Attracted Persons, is the way the medical community tries to clean up the word pedophile.

Blogger Damelon Brinn July 30, 2019 6:45 PM

@67 They do use that acronym, but it doesn't make any sense in context: "we found a handkerchief (I think it has a minor-attracted person that seems pizza related on it." On the other hand, if you drew a crude map on a handkerchief to show someone where to meet for a special "cheese pizza," someone who found it and didn't know the whole story might describe it that way.

What they do isn't "working". They give out orders from their opulant luxury chambers. They should try actually working.
