REBEL'S RUN

Many of you are aware that we have been working on a larger-scale project than usual over the last few months. So, I suspect that few of you will be surprised to learn that what we have been assiduously working on is putting together a production team for the first Arkhaven film as well as a new film production company, Viral Films Media. This is the Rebel's Run Teaser Trailer from Galatia Films and VFM. We're pleased to be able to announce that Scooter Downey, who directed this trailer, will also be directing the film.

UPDATE: Owen and I discuss REBEL'S RUN and another project on his stream.

Good luck with this venture.

The first return volley in the culture war was undoubtedly GamerGate. It was our Bull Run. So it is fitting this is one of the first professional initiatives .. this is a milestone for sure. Prayers.

Blogger CitizenOutkast July 03, 2019 7:44 PM

I wish I could have backed this, but the finances aren't there. With that said, if anything will make nationalism "cool," this kind of thing will do it. People need to start seeing alternative views that go against the media's lies.

Epic. Even just hearing the words "the global crackdown on hate has begun" is so antithetical to the constant flow of steaming BS we get from Hollywood right now, that it's thrilling to behold.

Can't wait to see this film come to life! Deus vult.

Agree with citizen. Wish I had had the monies to jump into this. Should a lottery win come my way? Well, jump in for sure; and, that will be sooo satisfying!
Good luck guys, and, I hope it comes to a theater near me soon. Or, at least, the dvd.

Blogger Lushtree July 03, 2019 7:52 PM

Woohoo! Greatly looking forward to this. I do not have the most practiced of eyes, but the cinematography and music is definitely on point. I do wonder about costuming and special effects. Comic book inspired images can easily look quite cheesy in live-action if the budget is not there. I presume you are still raising enough money to be able to pull it off?

@3- Nationalism will always be cool if done right, because it is quite literally popular. Mainstream culture could not get rid of it even if it wanted. Which is why it gets expressed in roundabout ways.

For instance, two big crowd-pleasing, moneymaking popcorn films of recent years--Dunkirk and Black Panther--drunk heavily from the cup of national pride and patriotism. But in one case they were fighting evul nazees and in the other they were black, so we're not supposed to notice.

Blogger Grime Knight July 03, 2019 8:17 PM

This is _super_ amusing in light of yet another ginger being replaced by a black in some tired old live-action Disney remake...

...as well as in light of the news about Nike pulling some shoes due to an American flag.

Perfectly timed SDL!

Blogger maniacprovost July 03, 2019 8:22 PM

Obviously I don't know anything about the budget or financing, but I think it's interesting that so far you haven't dipped into the second tier of potential investors like myself. If there's not going to be a public crowdfunding, that shows there is a huge supply of capital available relative to your needs.

Pop culture has been an effective weapon to get people to transfer their tribal loyalty from family, community, and nation to other categories based on personal preference. It is good to see the weapon being appropriated to push back the other way.

Finally a heroic southern redneck character. Someone like me and my family put in a good light instead of being cast as the bad guy.

This is a big deal.

Thank you, Vox!

Blogger Tobias July 03, 2019 9:21 PM

Congrats on the project. If it´s anywhere near as good as Vox has teased on Owen´s stream, it is going to do fantastically well. I think Hollywood is going to realize, that they fucked up badly. Because Hollywood movies are almost 100% pozzed. There is not even (or at the very least not nearly enough) "controlled opposition" in entertainment to appeal to the right/traditionalists/nationalists and reel them in with "safe" CivNat messaging. It is just pure unadulterated poz. So, they left that whole market open to be taken over by "the real deal". Big mistake on their part. That should mean, that, even if the movie turns out to be merely mediocre, it will likely do financially well (espicially considering the relatively small budget). If the movie is as good as Vox claims it´s going to be, it could feasibly break box office records, possibly dethroning Paranormal Activity as the biggest return of investment. I know that´s a bold prediction, but the project is certainly on track to become a financial success.

Blogger Hammerli 280 July 03, 2019 9:21 PM

@8: Remember the original Star Trek series? Cheap effects, restricted budgets...but the list of screenwriters is a list of Hugo and Nebula nominees for the next decade (and it was worth something, then). Solid writing and good acting can carry cheap effects.

Vox: I hate to break it to you, but you look a lot less intimidating than your reputation. :-)

Blogger VD July 03, 2019 9:31 PM

Blogger Dave Dave July 03, 2019 10:20 PM

I'm excited to watch a comic book movie with no continuity. I hated the MCU because there was too much continuity, and you had to see most movies before to understand the new ones. I don't have that patience, especially when the movies are boring. Chuck Dixon being given a sandbox to work with is a reassuring sign that this project will be a success.

Blogger Unknownsailor July 03, 2019 10:20 PM

Kind of off topic, but only mildly:

I saw the latest Spiderman yesterday, and the bad buy is literally a Gamma. Really. He's trying to get back at Tony Stark because Tony made fun of the Gamma's work, and then fired the Gamma.

After all the time reading what Vox writes, the Gamma tells on screen were obvious.

Can people outside the US still invest?

Regarding Owen playing the role of the head of the Chinese space program. If he can't do that one could at least include one or two scenes where for some mischievous purpose he disguises as the Chinese guy. He would of course fool most people apart from a few who would point out that the height doesn't fit.

Blogger Eli July 04, 2019 3:40 AM

Congratulations on the announcement Vox and crew. Love that even the director was referring to an Alt Hero cinematic universe. Starting with Rebel is great, but can't wait until Dynamique and Ryu no Seishin finally make their film debut. Heck, who am I kidding the Alt Hero universe has so many great characters and that's even with the knowledge that most aren't fleshed out yet. Throw a dart at a character and we'll most likely want them in the film. Really dug the slight grind house vibes of the trailer.

Rebel's Mustang needs to be riddled with gunfire to make it a true Ford (found on road dead), so she can hop into an orange Charger. She is a rebel, after all.

Dave, are you a Damn Yankee or something?

Do you even know what an orange Charger is? It's the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard. The one with the REBEL FLAG on the top of the car.

Blogger rycamor July 04, 2019 1:43 PM

The concept looks absolutely awesome.

Yeah the Mustang makes sense though, being more of a girl car. Although, I would have chosen a more badass model like the classic Boss 302, or '66 Shelby. And of course I hope the final version of that spinout shows two plumes of dust (limited slip differential was available even on older models).

Blogger Dave July 04, 2019 2:02 PM

It's the General Lee

Of course, but Bo and Luke always drove it, Daisy never did. Shiloh is a sorority girl, just fits the story more.

Heh, you caught that too. Maybe they can CGI it in later since this film is on a budget.

Blogger Edgar Abbey July 04, 2019 5:29 PM

This could not be coming out at a better time. The MCU is wrapping up its Infinity arc and probably going in a more SJW direction from here on out. The X-Men Universe seems to have lost its luster without Hugh Jackman. The DC Cinematic Universe is spotty (with an occasional high point, like Shazam). The Netflix Marvel shows have been canceled.
The Arrowverse may be winding down with its only alpha male lead having his show canceled next year and the rest going in an SJW direction. There is definitely an opening for a movie or cinematic universe of this nature. Looking forward to it.

Blogger InformationMerchant July 04, 2019 5:35 PM

Wow, great teaser. It's almost a pity that the response was so good that the teaser wasn't needed to convince normies to help crowdfund it.

I'm glad you were finally able to announce this. Not only is this an awesome project and morale booster, but quite a few guesses were way off base and it's nice to set them straight.

As a few other people have mentioned, The Little Mermaid was announced as black today. Someone else mentioned Spiderman, MJ from that caught diversity too. (https://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/vulture/2017/07/05/05-zendaya.w330.h330.jpg) It's going to be interesting seeing a white redhead in comic book movie again. Marvel switched to diversity a while ago. Captain Marvel was allowed to be white because she was the title character, both Spiderman movies have had (different) non white love interests, Thor had a black chick as main good female, Guardians II had a black chick playing a blue chick. Ant Man and the Wasp kept the 2015 casting of a white woman, Doctor Strange (2016) had a white woman love interest that was barely in it with the other notable woman being a white woman being cast to play a male character from the comics.

Marvel are determined to deny comic book movie fans the chance to see attractive white women, especially being feminine.

Well if I can't help fund it I'm damn sure looking forward to seeing it. This looks amazing.

So jealous right now of everyone who was able to contribute. Very excellent work so far, I have no doubts that this will be a great movie with even greater significance in the culture war. Good luck to all involved, can't wait to see what you guys create.

This looks badass!!! I wish I would've known about it when it was being funded. I can't wait to see it. I wish we had me guys with your energy and vision? You can't sleep more than a few hours a night!

We are car nerds

And apparently completely ignorant of the topic at hand.

Yeah the Mustang makes sense though, being more of a girl car. Although, I would have chosen a more badass model like the classic Boss 302, or '66 Shelby. And of course I hope the final version of that spinout shows two plumes of dust (limited slip differential was available even on older models).

The car was chosen because it already appears in Issue #2. That's like saying we should have chosen a black actress to play Rebel because there were black girls in Alabama at the time. Changing things because you prefer them is Marvel-level nonsense. Furthermore, neither the actress (as Rebel) nor that scene will appear in the movie. It's just an example of what the film will look and feel like.

Can I just say, in response to said anklebiter, that I thought the actress looked quite good and well chosen to be Rebel, visually. Obviously we did not get to hear her speak.

I did not like the dude's ungallant trashing of her and I would be happy if she was cast subject to her acting.

I would like to know what the effects budget will be like and if Captain Europe, Rainbow and the gang will be in it.

Vox, we know the car is already in the comic books. We just don't like Fords.

Blogger rycamor July 05, 2019 11:31 AM

It's not a car nerd post. We haven't had a car nerd post at VP since the last time Vox mentioned his MGB.

More to the point, at first I didn't understand that this isn't even footage that will end up in the film. I'm very impressed at the quality of this trailer, given that it is (I'm guessing) pre-budget.

This is precisely why I usually don't read the comments.

You don't like Fords either?

Hank Brown wrote:Impressive production values. Wow--enough to make me forgive the one-legger Mustang.

We didn't even recognize Hank yesterday as the first to mention the one-wheel rooster-tail by the Mustang. Hell, just some banter between car nerds, r-e-l-a-x, people.

Amazing quality and music was great! Excited to see it when it comes out. I'm going to buy my little brother all the comics so we can both enjoy. Great job Vox!

Hope it comes here to medium sized city in Argentina. Will definitively watch it
