Chick-Fil-A cucks

The chicken restaurant takes its first big step toward corporate convergence:
Chick-Fil-A said on Monday that it has stopped funding two Christian charities after coming under fire in recent weeks from LGBTQ activists. The fast-food chain’s foundation has donated millions of dollars to The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Both organizations have a history of opposing same-sex marriage.

Chick-fil-A said it no longer funds the organizations.

“We made multi-year commitments to both organisations and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018,” a spokeswoman for Chick-fil-A told the Thomson Reuters Foundation, adding the company would focus its giving on “education, homelessness and hunger.”

When reached by CNBC, the company declined to comment further.

The Atlanta-based company has faced criticism in the past for its charitable donations and CEO Dan Cathy’s public comments opposing gay marriage. As Chick-fil-A expands outside of its stronghold in the southeastern U.S., activists have put pressure on the company.
This echoes the convergence of NASCAR. Forsaking the existing audience in favor of chasing one that they will never find.

"As Chick-fil-A expands outside of its stronghold in the southeastern U.S."

This is probably the key. Expansion generally means hiring new people from outside the organization, providing a vector for convergence. Especially if they hired people from competing businesses in the new areas they expanded to, hoping to use their regional expertise.

Blogger wEz November 18, 2019 3:52 PM

It's not because it wasn't successful, but because a lgbtq group in the area contacted the company that leases their building and convinced them to end their lease agreement after the initial 6 month lease expires because of bad think.

Some NFL team, apparently, invited Colin Kaepernick in for a tryout, and he used the opportunity to do things that are hostile to the interests of the NFL.

That is what you get for accommodating these people. Same with the LGBTQ activists. They don't like you, they are not going to like you, and they are not going to act in your interests regardless.

Now okay for me if they want to terminate this or that charity. That is their business. But to satisfy the LGBTQ activists? Wow, what a bad idea that is. It is like an apology. It is telling them you can be had.

Blogger Oswald November 18, 2019 4:09 PM

I can't figure the logic here considering a great portion of their current prosperity came from their owner maintaining his position against this.

But look, they are defunding one of the best charities in the country for abused women, homeless families, drug addicts, and work rehabilitation resources.

I guess it's time to take my coke and fast food budgets and start cutting checks to SA.

Blogger Astrosmith November 18, 2019 4:12 PM

This is just like what happened with the Boy Scouts. They had fought against the inclusion of gays for years, and even had two SCOTUS rulings backing them up. (This policy was probably due to the known cases of homosexual pederasty they were covering up)

But then several years ago, they decided to reverse their policy. Why? They stated it was to stave off the decline in membership from "liberal" areas of the U.S. where the BSA was being denied access to recruit for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Packs and Troops were losing schools and PTAs and so forth as sponsors over their "discriminatory policy".

Of course, when they went this direction, the decline in membership only accelerated with the breakoff of Trail Life USA, to the point now where they allow girls to be "Boy Scouts" and we now have all-girl "Boy Scout troops". Yet membership still declines! I'm sure the national folks are clueless as to why.

I'm sure their upper echelon leadership has experienced a gradual changing of the guard. No doubt, the newbies who have gained more power in this transition are embarrassed about the past stances Chick Fil a took. Yes, those stances may have been integral to the success, but they, the new enlightened, can rid themselves of these stances like a snake sloughing its skin. And as products of US education, they're programmed to be embarrassed about the successful past and are on a mission to eliminate wrongthink. And, as Vox implies, who cares about the past culture if you can get a few more dollars and virtue signal in the process.

Chick fil a: "We season our sandwiches with magic dirt!"

Blogger Jeff aka Orville November 18, 2019 4:18 PM

According to Business Insider as of 2016. Chic-fil-a is a privately held company, so they really don't have as much investor pressure to bow down to SJW as a publically held company.

Founder Truett Cathy insisted by contract that his kids keep the company private upon his passing, and if they sold, could only sell to another private owner(s).

Reading between the lines, I could conclude that Cathy's children have cucked either due to misguided Xtian thinking or simply out of greed. This is just the book of Judges carried out in an individual family business. The next generation forgot (or were not taught) the lessons of the previous generation.

Saw this coming a mile away. Chick-fil-A always occupied that niche of being vaguely Christian in some barely-tangible way, thus being an acceptable vehicle for boomers and cucks to signal without actually taking any risks. Never saw them take any genuinely contrarian or even controversial positions.

Fast-food restaurants aren't the places you want to look for good masculine Christian virtue. If you like their sandwiches, fine, but don't depend on them to represent you.

Blogger Sargent.matrim November 18, 2019 4:32 PM

This is often what happens to churches too. To grow larger they soften and tone down the message, before you know it they are no longer preaching the whole counsel of God, but just practical life principles mined from the Bible and they are removing any historical criticism of homosexuality and women preachers from their former sermon on the websites.

But they always forget this: the world will still hate them, no matter how much they conform to the world.

This was a small business selling cookies. I've worked in government and in regulated industries. This goes for especially any company that touches food or medical. It does not pay to get harassed by the FDA. If you are involved in food or medical, you need to toe the line or the men in the white suits will make your life hell. I've sat though a week long training session that was set up to make that point clear. Even if you take all the steps to be in compliance, they can still shut you down for just about any reason. The FCA has no policy against gays joining. They have policies against them holding club officer positions.

They had been kicked off Orlando Area's Rollins College campus for such a discriminatory policy sometime in 2010-2012.

Blogger wEz November 18, 2019 4:44 PM

This very well could be. As convergence continues to happen all around, its not a stretch to think that the incessant "we want blood" LGBTQ uses every single avenue they have to get compliance. Eventually they won't even need to skirt around the rules, they'll just apply enough pressure to get all the rules changed to their liking.

Blogger wEz November 18, 2019 4:49 PM

Chick-fil-la, up to this happening, and I hope they are not really , finally becoming converged, is a fine company. They give up Sundays, probably more than 1/7 TH. their weekly profits, so their employees have the day off for Church, or whatever. Their staff is unfailingly polite, well mannered and intelligent. Well trained and endowed with Christian values. Its probably the only place like that that I would want my granddaughter to start learning retail by working there as she gets to that age.

That's on Chick-Fil-A. This is precisely why you don't even permit the appearance of backing down to SJW demands. Maybe the change is innocent and unrelated. Maybe it isn't. But the fact is that they have modified their behavior in accordance with what SJWs were publicly demanding.

I'm not telling anyone to boycott them. This doesn't make them the food equivalent of the Devil Mouse or Starbucks. But it may indicate the company is more susceptible to convergence than one might have thought. They are my example of an unconverged company, after all.

@46 Nate, @52 rycamor, has what seems to be a true "exclusive", here are some selected items, mostly quotes from a paper American non-family executive:

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an interview with Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.”

“This provides more focus and more clarity,” Tassopoulos said. “We think [education, hunger and homelessness] are critical issues in communities where we do business in the U.S.”

The new giving structure moves away from the multiyear commitments Chick-fil-A had with the Salvation Army and the FCA and focuses on annual grants, which Tassopoulos said will be reviewed and assessed each year. Future partners could include faith-based and non-faith-based charities, but the company said none of the organizations have anti-LGBT positions.

“When there is a tension, we want to make sure we’re being clear. We think this is going to be helpful,” Tassopoulos said. “It’s just the right thing to do: to be clear, caring and supportive, and do it in the community.”

Impeding growth

A whiff of usury perhaps. One of the axioms of the debt-racketeering referred to by most idiots as "muh free-enterprise" is that growth must be unending. The only thing in nature that never stops growing is a cancer cell. If they've borrowed from the (((usual suspects))) to finance the continual 'growth' the demand to kneel before Moloch is inevitable. Borrowers are slaves to lenders.

No, people desperately don't want them to cuck. Is that really so hard for you to grasp? FFS, they are responding to a legitimate news report that quoted an executive openly stating they were cucking in the interest of growth.

Have to agree with @Lance E. It seems Christians in America latch on to any and every worldly enterprise or personality that smacks of any 'christian' virtues at all, bases their entire hope for Christian civilisation upon it. I. E., any sports figure or actor/singer who says Jesus, or prays, or says 'I give God the glory', etc.
Then it's as I'd all the larger churches can't invite them fast enough to speak at their next convention.
Cathy I think as a good man who had some good character. But just closing on Sunday doesn't make you an Apostle Paul or Deacon Stephen.
If they yield to this pressure, then it is only the truth of The Whole World Lieth In Wickedness proven once again.

"Anti-LGBT positions." Funny they used to call those "Biblical positions"...

Apparently the new generation of Chick-Fil-A leadership is pure churchian: that is, they don't let the Gospel of the Jesus they pretend to worship every Sunday when their restaurants are closed get in the way of their pursuit of mammon the other six days a week.

Blogger S1AL November 18, 2019 8:53 PM

The "damning" comments are in a completely different context in the article I linked. They have nothing to do with what the original claims. The CNBC report might as well have fabricated them given how they were presented.

And no, I'm not saying they're going to side with the LGBT crowd. I'm saying that, if this decision was innocent, they have every reason to write off the people who are so quick to assume. This is literally enemy propaganda being taken at face value.

As someone else pointed out, CFA could have easily used this opportunity to actually support the LGBT agenda. They didn't. At the *absolute worst*, they've wavered a bit. They've earned the benefit of the doubt, and if they are wavering they deserve our prayers and support. Not this absolute, unquestioning viciousness that most of the accusers can't even summon up for the left.

Chick-Fil-A's cuck was the hot topic on the call-in radio show for the evening commute tonight. Callers were soundly disappointed, many angry. The recurring theme was a sense of betrayal, the notion that they had gone to bat for Chick-Fil-A and have been continuing to go to bat for Chick-Fil-A, and now they feel betrayed. The love affair seemed quite over. Few were saying they're going to boycott, though. Most were saying they simply aren't going out of their way and that now when they want to grab a quick bite other options are more attractive. There's nothing special about Chic-Fil-A anymore was the sentiment. Might as well go try that new sandwich at Popeye's that everybody's talking about.

Cuck-Fil-A is currently in the dangerous mode of fast growth. Nate, 'splain how this cuckery should not be punished. For too long the right has ignored such actions and continued shopping at Walmart, etc. Now, I agree this isn't full convergence, but if it is consequence free, then we'll see more of the same. If it were merely a rotation of charities supported, then the correct response is to say so along with a statement that tells the LGBTQPF crowd to piss off and Chick Fil A stands by its donations. Instead, we see a weasel word response design to avoid giving offense to the homos. It is particularly galling because of the support the Christian Right gave to CFA when it previously stood firm against the homopedos.

Blogger daddynichol November 19, 2019 7:32 AM

Maybe I missed it,but CFA didn't donate directly to LGBTZRSTUV groups, they just shifted their donations to other charities. CFA didn't come out in direct support of the sexually confused. However, it was an amazingly stupid decision to make a public statement about the change in direction, then release an even worse "clarification". The CEO made what appears to be a huge blunder, but at this level, maybe it wasn't a blunder after all.

Blogger ThatWouldBeTelling November 19, 2019 8:04 AM

@138 daddynichol: You didn't miss it, what Cuck-Fil-A did was to stop funding charities that the LGBTZRSTUV *really* hate, like the Salvation Army. And their COO, a paper American who's not a family member like the CEO who's the eldest son of the founder and is being conspicuously silent, gave a detailed interview to a media outlet that spun this as being intentional:

The key sentence in it, which Cuck-Fil-A has not denied as of yesterday, is "Future partners could include faith-based and non-faith-based charities, but the company said none of the organizations have anti-LGBT positions." There's quite a bit more like that in it, and as long as the company lets it stand, as you say, "at this level, maybe it wasn't a blunder after all."

They also have to be completely out to lunch, so to speak, to not realize how this would be interpreted by every media outlet and talking head across the political spectrum. See for example my above "Unite the Right" comment, where everyone from VDARE's very hard core James Kirkpatrick to Shapiru is giving them hell. And as I commented in another topic, all this as a competitor has launched a superior chicken sandwich that people are willing to fight to the death to eat.

In hindsight sure, a bad idea, but I can see how it would look terrible thru today's lenses.
The Clinton's were as outwardly pro-Christian as the Bush family.
Same with regards to the Gores & so on. A lot changed quickly from the early 90s to the early 2000s, regarding religious beliefs of our leaders.
Obama even did the big event with McCain at that huge megachurch, Saddleback, where they tried to out Christian one another while also not offending the growing non-Christian, degenerate voting base they both wanted.

And yet there was so much evidence by the end of 1994 they were some of the worse prominent people in the country. The persecution of the head of the travel office simply because he was in their way and the trampling of other "little people", all the way to the mass murder of innocents at Waco. Or their ruling in a very partisan manner, the Salvation Army picked a side when they didn't have to, unless they were made an offer they couldn't refuse, which I suppose I should allow for. Absent that, I think those of us on the other side were justified in our conclusions about the organization.

These organizations just so happen to be pro-family/anti-LGBTQ and so the media spins it as a victory for activists. Chick-Fil-A didn't provide further comment.

But if there is someone who said the reason to not pick up the option was because Chick-Fil-A was "taking it on the chin", they need to get rid of that person promptly...

While Mike Huckabee is problematical, he makes some good comments here:

"Huckabee said Chick-fil-A’s damaging decision will also 'send a message to the left that it can hammer a Christian organization long enough, and they’ll eventually cave in.'

"A group of students at Bozeman High School in Montana is protesting their school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes club because they don't like the group's biblical beliefs about marriage and sexuality. @CBNNews #religiousfreedom

— FRC (@FRCdc) November 19, 2019

"'And I think that this is going to invite an enormous level of pressure on other companies that have up to now, tried to be distinct, serving everyone, loving everyone, being kind to everyone, but also maintaining their right to be Christian and their right to hold fast to their faith and their principles,' he lamented."

He also commented they smeared the reputation of the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, in the environment that's already rolled out the red carpet for the Alphabet People. Which I'm not sure about theologically, plus he's totally accepting the landscape the Left has crafted:

"Huckabee continued that what is so offensive about Chick-fil-A’s yielding to the pressure from left-wing activists is that the company, essentially, 'affirmed the lie that has been told from the far left about the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes,' which is that these organizations are bigoted and discriminate against LGBTQ individuals.

"They will cause a lot of people to say, ‘Oh yeah, you know the Salvation Army, boy, they’re a bigoted organization,’' Huckabee said, emphasizing the reality is that the Salvation Army “serves everyone” and serves 'more people who are homeless' and without food and shelter than any organization in the world.

"'The great irony was Chick-fil-A said, ‘We’re not going to work for the Salvation Army anymore because we’re going to focus on homelessness and feeding people,’ and they disassociated themselves from the number one homeless and feeding organization in the world,' the former governor added. 'That makes no sense.'"

Blogger ThatWouldBeTelling November 20, 2019 11:09 AM

There's limited new ground makes, but it puts it well, and this should get attention:

"The problem ultimately stems from the pride of every even-tempered conservative: a lack of an offense-oriented moral zeal.

"Right-wingers assume society, economics and culture are governed by agents engaging in their immediate self-interest. This is the heritage of Adam Smith and Friedrich Hayek, omnipresent in conservative orthodoxy. Columnists as recently as September expressed this, scoffing at homosexual activists looking silly wasting their time and energy getting mad at fried chicken for not being gay enough. Wouldn’t they rather be doing poppers, going to an Abba concert or having an orgy?

"Yet they got their way.

"Both modern Christians and conservatives lack the authoritarian impulses of the lavender jackboot on their neck. While Jewish capitalists like Fred Eyechaner and Paul Singer donate $10s of millions of dollars to gay pressure groups and the two major parties (one to push the agenda, the other to throw the fight), the very owners of Chick-Fil-A, worth $11 billion themselves, refuse to translate money into either cultural or political power.

Comment: For *decades* this has been true; "conservatives" with millions or billions of dollars have avoided the fight, which could be very costly to them. Perhaps their view of human nature is in part derived from their own lack of character?

"While the causes they fight for are anti-social and despicable, Jews demonstrate moral courage when walking all over the values of the majority.

"When Starbucks’ left-liberal corporate activism began to hurt its profitability, Howard Schultz told shareholders unhappy about his controversial input on political controversies to sell their stake and leave.

"Jews disprove the assertion that humans only engage with the world selfishly. This is something only taught to white people...."

Note on Starbucks and Corporate Cancer, a recent study using location data concluded that after allowing bums off the street to use their facilities without paying for anything, they're getting less business, which they of course deny.

"Bill H says:

"It is beginning to look like Democrats might win. Maybe not, but their loss is no longer certain. Chik-Fil-A knows just how intolerant and punitive liberals are. It does not want to be supporting anti-LGBTQ causes if Democrats win control.

"This action is called 'hedging your bets.' Victorious Republicans will not punish Chik-Fil-A for their support of anybody. Victorious Democrats will go on a witch hunt and destroy anyone who has opposed their causes."

Maybe not win in 2020 (I say it's up in the air as long as it's conceivable the Left will kill the economy to get rid of Trump), but in the long term few of us are predicting there's even going to a USA as such, VD puts its dissolution in the 2030s.

And while I'm at it:

"Hannah Katz says:

By the way, the Salvation Army and FCA do not persecute gays. They just do not promote homosexuality. In today’s twisted society that counts as discrimination."

And here's a very interesting claim that could make them resistant to losing a perhaps important class of customers:

"Rosie says:

Chik-fil-a has built up an enormous amount of good will with moms with their playrooms. There is no other place like it. You can take your kids in there and sit and have a care-free chat with another mom for an hour or so.

"That is expensive, because those play structures need to be cleaned, and of course insurance is expensive, but we don’t care. We’ll happily pay twice as much for food for a chance to have an adult conversation."
