"Freedom" is evil

That's the inescapable conclusion to which I have come after seeing yet another commercial equating "choosing to be free" with "choosing Hell".

Think about how every Disney movie since Walt Disney died preaches either a) rebellion, b) following your heart, or c) freedom. This promised "freedom" is akin to Jordan Peterson's "individualism", as both are designed to render you alone, helpless, and vulnerable to the spiritual vampires who wish to feed on you.

Only the truth can set you truly free. Anything else that promises or celebrates freedom as an end is just another form of slavery seeking to entrap you.

"Freedom" is the ability to choose your own forms of responsibility. Freedom without responsibility is not freedom, it's slavery masquerading as hedonism.

Freedom from what? You can either choose freedom from sin, which means serving Christ, or freedom from Christ, which means serving satan. Freedom to choose your own way doesn't exist. Funnily enough, the word "heretic" comes from the Greek "haireomai" which means "choose".

Freedom in the form of negative, natural rights is purely a philosophical construct. I agree with that form of freedom and would defend it in debate, but... for most people, it can be reformulated more practically in basic tribal duties. There's a murderer? Hang him high. Thief? Beat him half to death. Repeat offender? Double the punishment. These duties necessarily follow from the practical need to defend one's freedom.

The real challenge is getting people to exercise restraint in shunning certain things that are bad... Degrees of nuance are hard.

Blogger Other Josh November 16, 2019 7:54 PM

"Freedom" is evil. Yes, it is. Which is why the foundation of American has been evil from the very beginning... because it rests on rebellion from the authority that was over it. "We recognize no Sovereign but God and no King but Jesus", and then the colonists went on to blatantly disobey the holy Word of God by disregarding every command God gave on how Christians should submit to and pray for the king. As Jesus asked... "Why do you call me Lord and not do the things I say?" The claim we rejected George III because "Jesus is our King" is the biggest pile of horseshit ever. We were rebels. We still are.

And so now we have a country that filled with spiritual poison. Rebellion is built into American culture, and has been from day one. Individualism is the norm. The rebellion plant grows and grows. America is in the process of forsaking God, celebrating abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, and every other kind of sin - because we are "free"! Don't like it? It's our birthright, and it started in 1776. America is a nation of rebels.

God hates rebellion.

Blogger Monotonous Languor November 16, 2019 7:55 PM

Progressives seek to expand rights without any associated responsibilities, all disguised as freedom. One way for the right to fight this is to place responsibilities back into the law, not only stating them explicitly, but also stipulating precise limits on the extent of what kind of situation each law is supposed to cover. No law should be passed without these two sections written as part and parcel.

Of course the legal profession will never agree, since the effect would be to reduce the need for trial lawyers. Their surreptitious intent is to write laws in such an open-ended manner as to deliberately pit elements of society against each other, the better to prey on both sides and suck out their monetary pound of flesh. God damn all lawyers, they are all unacknowledged tools of the left.

One day, some years ago, I was in front of a computer while talking to a friend about the issues of getting a right to drill a well on private land. Apparently the cities outvoted the rurals yet again.
On my computer flashed a page of article thumb nails that you get on some browsers when you open a new tab.
While my libertardian self and friend were doing the usual pearl clutching over this latest injustice, I'm seeing on my screen one of the Wakowskis, post transbeast at some "Human rights " convention group whatever.
That was a redpill moment. And one of many signposts on my road from libertardian to Christian nationalist.
We're up against evil. And this is why we never had "freedom" in the first place. Like socialism, every civilization that tried it failed.
I can hear the boomers say things like "Well, without freedom you would not be allowed to say that! Without freedom you would have no weapons to defend yourself".
But if I were not allowed to say it, and said it anyway, then what's the worth of that which is said? Would we not waste such an event on frivolity?
So I imagine if you handed out free books at a gathering you would find copies left behind on chairs, in the restrooms, in the lobby, etc. But if purchasing the book was a requirement of the meeting it would be uncommon to find a discarded or misplaced copy. So being free to say and do what you want is wasted. Just like every American holiday now where all people do is stuff their fat faces.
The boomers would lament such lack of freedom. For what do I lose if I say that which must be said, the right to be left alone to spend a life in indulgence and watching TV? Everybody has certainly been free to do just that, apparently.
I don't care about freedom any more. Nor the laws passed by those who also stopped caring in their own way. For as much as they seek my enslavement or reduction to subject, I seek the same for them. No more "Muh freedom" because I know we're never really free to ignore these people, knowing exactly by this point what they will do with their freedom if we leave alone those who refuse to leave us alone.

Still too wide a net. Many men make terrible decisions constantly and need to be restrained. How do you think we got here?

More than the freedom from consequences, what most people seek is freedom from choice, because making definitive judgements terrifies them. They not seeking mere approval, but pre-approval.

Of course, there are also the strident contrarians, who squeal constantly in their infantile nasally voices that "You can't tell me what to do!", but wise men know one of the easiest ways to be controlled is to always do the opposite of what you're told.

Yes but the trouble with bringing back say chattel slavery for such types is historically it is a bad economic system that tends to displace free labor. Best to sterilize men who (in non depression times) cannot support themselves economically rather than enslave them.

Women should revert to their pre 1850s legal status, the wards of their fathers (though after a certain age of their father failing to arrange a marriage elopement should become legal... elopement being marriage by abduction to a financially responsible single man willing to take her, in no case should the woman's consent to marriage be a legal factor) then their husbands then generally their sons.

I'm noticing the smarmy evil in just about everything coming out of Hollywood. I think I am just much more aware of it these days.

Case in point - was bored the other night and rewatched a movie from a few years back. Had seen it before, was OK killer of 2 hours. The movie was The Rundown starring the Rock, Dwayne Johnson. Like a poor man's Indiana Jones. Meh.

This time I noticed the strong anti-Christian elements where I thought was just innocuous stuff before. Short version - a lost treasure in the amazon is coveted by evil whitey. This treasure is lost at the moment, but if found again will surely restore the native peoples, bring them wealth and happiness - if only evil white Euro man is prevented from stealing it.

The treasure? The Golden Gato! = "The Golden Cat."

Yeah, not far from the Golden Calf.

So, it's found, the natives get to keep it and are joyous, the evil whites are destroyed or sent packing. At one point the Golden Cat is held aloft before the image of an old, shuttered church, (which obviously failed the natives).

As with most words, freedom in modern times is twisted into something it is not. Man never has freedom to do evil. The proper purpose of freedom is to choose to do what is good and avoid what is evil without being compelled to making those choices.

Men can choose to do evil, but it always involves bondage and slavery to sin, and eventually to damnation if not repented. License is what modern society is pushing, and like every other perversity in vogue in the West, its proponents refuse to call it by its proper name.

"Freedom" is a word that has little meaning without an adjective, if that is the right grammatical term, which is probably why its being used rhetorically and detached from anything that would allow it to take meaningful shape. No one would argue that freedom to choose your profession is evil, would they? Or freedom to travel, freedom to marry the girl of your choice? Freedom to leave your estate to whom you choose? Freedom of association? Freedom to seek the counsels of God? I see nothing wrong with these freedoms, and though they could potentially be improved upon in benevolent dictatorship, I suspect that would not happen in the majority of cases.

The problem lies with the hypocritical application of freedom in the west - so often to serve vice and not virtue, and underneath that so often to serve death and barren-ness. Freedom to destroy yourself and any future children. When freedom of improving upon one's own property is the topic, well, then we have to consider the poor Tuvaluans and the rising ocean, so you can't cut that tree down without an approved permit. When freedom of religion is the topic, we mustn't offend the poor Hindi's lest they become upset that their gods are a bizarre farce. If only we could come to a balanced application of freedom across the spectrum of human activity. Is that what the Framers tried? Maybe its impossible. Still, I prefer the imperfect freedom that I've thrived under, to the dice roll of benevolent dictatorship.

The basic idea is that the three values Stability/Order, Freedom/Individualism, and Equality are each opposed to each other and each is embodied by a current political force. There's also a reference to this being analogous to the three estates from medieval society, namely those who work, those who pray, and those who fight.

The TV/Film is doing something to your brain that's bad for you but it doesn't provoke flight/fight response so it doesn't bother you. Same as all those other deception weapons. Its just a cartoon, its just a drink, its just whatever, but in long term it isn't.

Alcohol is bad for you therefore stop drinking. But you don't as long as the act itself doesn't trigger you. So the information doesn't really register. This is why advertisers don't care about information. They know that nobody makes decisions on information. Its when you "devil mouse" them that it hurts. If they see devil when they see it, it starts scaring them, then they avoid. If kids associate alcohol with devil from young age it provokes trigger response.

So information is largely irrelevant, its a battle of good/bad wizardry. Effectively I am under the spell of bad wizards. You can talk about personal responsibility but if that meant anything then people wouldn't be so easily destroyed.

If you add libertarianism to personal responsibility many will become slaves to their impulses. And then we blame them.. just don't do it! But they will. So without good wizardry the average human is doomed to become a slave. That's why they see "feeders" with such contempt, because they know how easily they will fall.

You are still watching Jew Hollywood movies and TV in late 2019.
Wtf, dude? I cannot imagine even owning a TV in Current Year. The only ones left in my house are ones in the mother-in-law suite floor of my house and 2 in the other guest rooms downstairs.
I haven't had one on any of the areas of the house we use since 2008,when I realized the only thing I ever watched on them was political debates. Once it became easy to watch them online, out they went.
Your life becomes so much happier and healthy without that garbage pumped in, especially if you have children or one of those dumb wives who love to watch all the degeneracy like Real Housewives and Queer Eye type crap.
Ween her & the kids off of it and sell them at a garage sale.
As for movies, the last time I was in a movie theater,I saw Passion of Christ. I'll go back if Mel makes part 2. Otherwise, nope.

@81: I approve of your choices. At the same time, I don't want to alienate anyone who hasn't made the same choices yet. Yesterday is done and gone. The right time for an alcoholic to stop drinking is now. The right time for a Christian to stop watching TV is now. One day at a time, just don't start, you can do it, and we're right here with you.

No freedom is evil. We must be free to choose to be good.

Unfettered freedom is evil. The lack of constraints and limits leads to perdition.

Where the middle ground is I will let others wiser than me to debate. But I contend there is a middle ground.

Everything Vox says about Disney is true...

See that sequence "fbclid" - that stands for "facebook click ID", a tracker from Facebook. These can be defeated by deleting the "?" and everything after it, or by using browser extension RemoveLinkTracking for Firefox or extension StopFB for Chrome.

Interesting how Vox' views have changed over the years. When he used to write for World Net Daily, he described himself as a Christian libertarian. He was just as contemptuous of atheists as he is now, but once wrote that if he had to choose between a Christian theocrat and a libertarian atheist, he'd choose the latter.

Now, apparently, not so much.

Theodore Dalrymple has some really good quotes. I selected 2.

There is something deeply attractive, at least to quite a lot of people, about squalor, misery, and vice. They are regarded as more authentic, and certainly more exciting, than cleanliness, happiness, and virtue.

The idea that freedom is merely the ability to act upon one's whims is surely very thin and hardly begins to capture the complexities of human existence; a man whose appetite is his law strikes us not as liberated but enslaved.

An attractive, then 28 (now 36) year-old woman who works in administration told me she doesn't want to have a relationship or family because she doesn't want to lose her freedom.

She's tall and thin, with jet black hair, very fair complexion and hazel eyes, oh and Greek.

I find her self-imposed isolation selfish and sad. I'm fairly certain she is more than normal shy and who knows, maybe nuts. But in a gentler era, she'd be a mother and probably a decent wife.

She bought herself her first cat this year.

Who's fault is this, if not self-serving gamma Cucks and their feminist wives of a generation or three ago?
