Big Bear bounces back

More than 7,000 viewers watched the Big Bear's inaugural stream on DLive today. He's already got more than 6k followers there. I've created an account there too, which you can follow at voxday.

UPDATE: DLive has graciously arranged for me to have the VOXDAY account in order to make it easier to find.

Fuck we kick ass. They’re just making us stronger and stronger until we metaphorically snap their necks! All this deplatforming weeds out the weak and leaves the strong. Conflict IS the air we breath!

Blogger Dan in Georgia December 04, 2019 4:59 PM

The quality of the streaming on dlive.tv is off the charts.
YouTube is like watching a worn out VHS tape from the bargain bin.

Blogger Franz Lyonheart December 04, 2019 5:00 PM

I've caught part of the stream at DLive. It was leagues better than on YouTube.

I had no idea about the DLive app. All creators should migrate there.

Only downside is that it cuts off immediately when the live stream is over. Until it's uploaded to Unauthorised, it takes several days typically (eg Darkstream). That's the ONLY convenience advantage YouTube still has, it's available canned /uploaded within seconds (albeit at much lower quality).

Blogger xevious2030 December 04, 2019 5:05 PM

No grabbling during the stream, was awesome.

Blogger 🐻Drew🐻 December 04, 2019 5:07 PM

Franz Lyonheart there is a playback option. Not sure how long it stays up, however, someone said 3 days. So if you miss the stream you can always use that playback as long as it is within the supposed 3 day time frame... But I'm assuming BB will have them on UA by the third day.

Blogger Dave December 04, 2019 5:18 PM

Signed up and subbed to Owen and Vox.

Can it be we'll receive actual notifications? I think it will.

Dan in GA is right on about the quality. Be interesting to see if Darkstreams still have missing frames. Often Vox is about to answer a question or make a point, then a split-second later he's speaking on a completely different topic.

Blogger Falcor December 04, 2019 5:18 PM

@Franz, for replay in DL go to OwenBenjaminComedy (via search) and click the replay tab for finished episodes. Also, the chat runs 24/7.

Blogger CCP December 04, 2019 5:27 PM

Should be interesting to see if the mysterious dropped frame problem follows Vox to this platform.

Blogger Dave December 04, 2019 5:28 PM

Vox, I see 2 channels, the one you mentioned and another titled Darkstream.

@Franz if you're question is concerning replays, Owen's stream is available to replay now.

Blogger Dan in Georgia December 04, 2019 5:45 PM

Owen and SDL record their streams so there are no missed frames on Unauthorized.tv

Blogger Dan in Georgia December 04, 2019 5:53 PM

Owen mentioned starting a blog. Now wouldn’t it be funny if he did it on Google’s Blogger? Maybe call it OnlyYouCanPreventSodomy.blogspot.com. It’s not taken already, is it?

Blogger Nate73 December 04, 2019 5:53 PM

I've been using DLive for awhile, only issue is it drops out a lot and one has to click on a different resolution and then back to get it to restart. They have a mobile app is the main appeal I see. Is it bad to be owned by chinese investors pushing LINO?

I love me some big bear. Being a GM, a husband, and father prevents me from enjoying as much of his media as I'd prefer, but thems the shits. Keep on kickin ass Owen.

Blogger Fuzzums Wuzzums December 04, 2019 6:10 PM

Great thing about DLive is that they're an amendable authority. One or two years ago they had the typical converged ToS. However to my eyes it was clearly something they just copy-pasted from other sites in a hurry because they had to have ToS. So far with them it's been ups and downs, with them deleting "hate speech" accounts, then begging them to come back, then trying to section off a piece of the site just for them, then they had issues with the streaming, and so on.

Ralph Retort was kicked off but now he's back there again. Metokur was kicked off and they begged him to come back because they realized it was a mistake. Metokur didn't come back however because he always folds and runs to the next thing.

I believe the current owners are Turks and the servers are in China.

All of the people that DLive had a problem with were free-speech cucks which flaunted their lack of moderation as a badge of honor.

Blogger NewTunesForOldLogos December 04, 2019 6:12 PM

Notifications work fine on DLive, but there’s no warning one, just the “live now.”

Blogger michimartini December 04, 2019 6:14 PM

It's not that youtube has lesser quality capability. Some dude assembling his 3d-printer for 6 straight hours never has any glitches and never has to turn down the bitrate. Grabbling is real. Youtube will end up being just about cat videos and car reviews.
Speaking of which: Vox, I know you no longer have the 944 and have turned all reasonable and such... But could you please review the new Porsche models as they come out? You know, just stick a gopro to the windscreen and give us the Dark Lord perspective on how much better the 992 is than the 991.2. I mean, no video platform is complete without Porsche product reviews, right? Right?
OR i am just dehydrated. Probably that.
Anyway, so ecstatic about BBs insane first stream.

Access to revenue intermediaries seems to be the major hurdle for these sites to gain major traction. The need to go to bitcoin in order to bypass the financial gatekeepers has limited their growth.

I would argue it's the opposite. DLive cuts the middleman YT has which is the ad revenue. Your followers can support you directly much like Patreon does it. YT's model is the old television commercials model, i.e. targeted for boomers. Young people use adblock which makes YT lose more money. DLive model is copy-pasted from YT which created the whole SuperChats thing which in turn is antithetical to their original model. DLive has had some serious server problems at first which made most people abandon it but that seems fixed now.

The only downside I see from DLive is that their main purpose is becoming a twitch-competitor yet the most popular channels are regular podcasts. We can clearly see PewDiePie's channel not being able to beat BB on his first day. If DLive is a gaming site they're clearly doing something wrong.

Blogger Stilicho December 04, 2019 7:25 PM

Why would a (((bankster))) do business with a startup competitor to (((youtube)))? Now if the competitor gets big enough, then that (((bankster))) will be throwing nickels at it to get his nose under the tent.

Blogger Haus frau December 04, 2019 7:31 PM

Im so happy for him. He BB inspired me to get Nigerian dwarf goats and play dairy maid this coming spring .

Zim-Zam's suing Saint Tray Tray's deadbeat hoodrat dad and his mammy alongside suing others. This'll be rich.

Blogger Servant December 04, 2019 9:25 PM

So the zim zam can flim flam. He seems to have a case for slander if the stuff about trayvon is true and verifiable, not that they really go anywhere.

Was pumped after today's stream. The ability to pack up and move with no hesitation and without cost is a superpower. Nomad crushing.

Blogger Lazarus December 04, 2019 9:38 PM

I tried to sign up but they would not let me. Seemed like I needed a mobile phone. Do I?

Blogger John Bradley December 04, 2019 9:57 PM

I don't watch the streams, but I listen BB and Vox's streams afterwards as audio podcasts. It was a thrill to hear an ungrabbled BB podcast for the first time in months. Assuming that D-live doesn't flip-flip and boot Owen to the curb within a few days for ill-defined reasons, I'd love to see the Darkstreams done there as well, for that same reason.

Blogger Archella December 04, 2019 10:55 PM

That was just awesome today on DLive. "You can't stop the signal, Mal."

Blogger jkmack December 04, 2019 11:56 PM

you dont need a mobile phone to sign up.

Blogger pdwalker December 05, 2019 12:54 AM

I just signed up. No need for a mobile phone on signup.

Blogger Storm Rhode December 05, 2019 1:31 AM

If it does he's sure to have half a dozen plans on how to deal with it. I'm glad him and BB are on our side. The way the transition went so smoothly was inspirational.

Blogger Franz Lyonheart December 05, 2019 1:38 AM

@5, @7, many thanks!

Blogger Dan in Georgia December 05, 2019 2:53 AM

Looking forward to Vox dual steaming the Darkstream. Lets see how much throttling is attempted side by side with DLive's stream. If they still do, we mock them. If they stop, we mock them more. Win-win.

Don't know if the chat can be shut off, but Owen indicated he wants to keep it modded as much as possible. With chat on 24/7, any spamming will be dealt with by the next mod to log in. So much of YT's problems were...YouTube.

Blogger Avalanche December 05, 2019 7:22 AM

@24 "Zim-Zam's suing Saint Tray Tray's deadbeat hoodrat dad and his mammy alongside suing others."

First. Kill all the lawyers.

Blogger Ska_Boss December 05, 2019 7:34 AM

Kudos to everyone's favorite political commentary warlock, Styxhexenhammer666, for giving a shout out to Owen regarding his deplatforming.

Blogger wreckage December 05, 2019 7:54 AM

Scenario: Chinese service right? All these Americans start using it, and let's say that Google-like, the company is employing sophisticated algorithms to learn various things about users. Nothing directly nefarious, just building a big fat bank of demographic, economic, and social intel.

I can't be the only person noting that this is potentially the point where SJWs become a threat to national security at the broadest possible level. They really are corporate cancer, for every sense of corporate, aren't they?

If the US survives, they're going to have to build a statue to the Dark lord right there beside the giant gold-plated effigy of the God-Emperor. The destruction of the Converged is a selfless act of heroism on behalf of his estranged motherland.

And people say God doesn't have a sense of humour!

Blogger Unknown December 05, 2019 10:48 AM

The link for his Dlive channel doesn't work and I can't find him just by searching. Has anyone found his channel?

Blogger JamesB.BKK December 05, 2019 6:07 PM

Replay should've been there for 72 hours.

Blogger Macs December 05, 2019 9:42 PM

I don't see the problem, I watch video game content on youtube as well and sometimes catch those people live on twitch.
