Impeachment posturing

Has anyone explained to House Democrats what happens if you hold your breath too long?
The future of the House’s impeachment case against President Trump hung in doubt on Thursday, after the third-ranking House Democrat raised the possibility that the chamber could permanently withhold the articles from the Senate if it did not get assurances of a fair trial.

The morning after the House impeached Mr. Trump nearly along party lines, Representative James E. Clyburn, Democrat of South Carolina, said he was willing to wait “as long as it takes” to transmit the two impeachment articles approved Wednesday night. The House charged Mr. Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to his campaign to pressure Ukraine to smear Democratic rivals.

“Until we can get some assurances from the majority leader that he is going to allow for a fair and impartial and trial to take place, we would be crazy to walk in there knowing he has set up a kangaroo court,” Mr. Clyburn said Thursday morning on CNN, referring to Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader.

His remarks came the morning after Speaker Nancy Pelosi threw the matter into doubt by telling reporters shortly after passage of the articles of impeachment that she might wait to transmit them to the Senate until she could determine whether the trial would be fair.
Fine. Let them hold onto the articles of impeachment as long as they like. The Senate does not answer to the House. The longer this Democrat clusterdebacle continues, the better it is for the god-emperor and the American people.

The dems are hoping to gain enough senate seats in 2020 so that (with assistance of some traitorous Republicans) they can run a show trial in a kangaroo court with conviction a foregone conclusion. SJW'S always project.

They have no intention of taking it to Senate. That would foil the obstruction charges they want to spring when indictments are unsealed against the leaders of this coup and the CIA "politicians" who voted for impeachment. Assuming this isn't political theater, it speaks heavily to how weak the neo-clown has become in real terms, as they would have just offed him by now in the recent past.

Is it legal for a prosecutor to indict but not go to trial?
Is it ethical for a prosecutor to indict but not go to trial?

You might think that the answers are obvious but they're not obvious to those who haven't been paying attention and for those who like to think of themselves as honest, ethical, law abiding liberals, they are likely going to be uncomfortable answers.

Blogger Timmy3 December 19, 2019 12:02 PM

The Senate doesn’t need to wait. They voted against the Green New Deal without waiting for the House to pass anything.

Blogger Nathan Hornok December 19, 2019 12:06 PM

I honestly had the thought at breakfast this morning that the Dems will hold these articles until after the election, hoping they take control of the Senate, and thereby have a further chance of getting ride of Trump even after he is re-elected. And then I see this story. It's amazing how predictable people get when they have lost all attachment to truth and ethical restraint.

They might hold these articles through the election, hoping that it energizes their voters in the down ballot elections. Not realizing that it would energize the Trump supporters even more. They would justify it to themselves as payback for the delayed confirmation of Gorsuch. Not realizing they are upping the ante beyond all reason. I know this is a long shot, but it is clear the Dems have lost touch with reality. We'll see.

Blogger bodenlose Schweinerei December 19, 2019 12:08 PM

Just another step towards the complete toddlerization of society. What's next, are they going to pitch a pup tent on the floor of the Senate and refuse to speak to anyone until they get their nookie and their blankie?

To be honest, I wish they'd just hand it over to the Senate. Let it go to a proper trial, none of this quasi Star Chamber nonsense and expose the whole thing for what it is: a farcical sham (and ,preferably, with numerous Democrats and their cronies frog marched out in leg irons and handcuffs).

Blogger Doktor Jeep December 19, 2019 12:16 PM

To their credit, the democrats know exactly how to play the cuckservatives. They did an unfair impeachment process and now put the onus of fairness on the senate. This works perfectly on cucks, and they are quite adapted to working on and knowing what to expect from cucks. It's a combined political-media operation too. Fake polls will be in by the end of the day.
A "fair trial" means letting the democrats turn the Senate hearings into a shitshow.
The question is, will the republicans cuck? I won't be betting my rum against it.

Blogger Arthur Isaac December 19, 2019 12:16 PM

Dems make up rules and procedures as they go along. Every leftist judge in the country already does it. Heads they win, tails you lose. Their sanctimonious pseudo-morality seemingly entitles them to do any kind of depraved act to anybody at any time, as long as it advances their agenda.

But this latest incarnation is yet more proof that the left is living in a fantasyland of delusions and feelings, reality be damned. Once in the Congressional Record, withholding from anybody is logically impossible. The Senate has the right to immediately proceed with trial or dismissal.

Of course, Trump can decide on the best way to grind his enemies into dust. Whatever he does, just do it quickly. It's getting to the point where justice delayed is justice dismantled.

This.

Talked to one of the, brighter, of the Left supporters recently. They thought the talking of Trump and Putin was a crime, that the most popularly elected representative had to have a KGB style political officer there with Trump. Had no retort to the fact we are not at war with Russian, that unless he was giving away all the secrets, that it was not treasonous, and that the President is the top person voted for as representative to the rest of the world by a majority. Only comeback was that the President was not elected by a majority, as if the Electoral College was not understood to be part of the process. Didn't dawn on the person that the President receives more votes than any single House or Senate member, almost by definition of even halfway thought out reason. These people are stupid.

Blogger Dyspeptic December 19, 2019 1:22 PM

The ploy that the Demonrats are using here involves the courts and next years elections. There are several lawsuits lodged by the Jewish cabal of HJC lawyers (all of them former DOJ and current lawfare participants). These lawsuits involve demands to obtain Mueller Grand Jury material and Trumps personal and business tax returns. By using obstruction of congress and abuse of authority articles Pelosi and company can now argue in court that since they have impeached they are entitled to this information to facilitate a "fair" and "informed" trial. Of course it's just a fishing expedition but it gives the judicial treason weasels necessary cover to hand it all over. Demonrats will then leak all of this to the media and use it to pile on more impeachment articles and smear Trump during next years election cycle.

If the Demonrats hold The House and take the Senate in 2020 then it is game over and Trump will be either removed from office or completely neutralized. At that point the entire country will become Californicated and Retardpublicans will be a permanently powerless and irrelevant rump party as they are in Commiefornia.

Events over the next year will be decisive in determining the fate of our nation. If Trump doesn't man up and take bold action above and beyond twitter comments and campaign speeches then we can kiss our country bye bye.

By not sending it to the senate immediately, the dems have additional opportunity to vilify the GOP. The liberal press will oblige all the soundbites. When the opportunity has been used up, the articles of impeachment will be sent over with more fanfare and complaints. Trump has been expertly using up all the media attention; the dems are trying their hand at monopolizing it for a while.

Blogger HouellebecqGurl December 19, 2019 2:52 PM

I can't decide if the Dems are just feeling desperate and decided total anarchy and chaos is the way to win in 2020 since they have nothing/no one to run on, or if they WANT to lose, staying the oppositional party is a very lucrative position to be in.
I just don't know, but what I do know is the American people, (traditionally, who knows with our new Americans), do not like anything that smacks of unfairness. They hated to Clinton impeachment and punished Repubs for it. They hated the Obamacare one sided push, and Dems were punished the next election election after its passage by handing Dems a loss of Federal and State seat losses not seen since 1929.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if there are enough OG Americans to care in 2020.

A case can be made that such would be unconstitutional as you can't have the 116th Congressional House on one end while at the other would be the 117th Senate. All must be contained within the same Congress.

Except the Senate confirmed 13 new Federal judges. Young, less cucked/degenerate judges, who will serve for life.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 11th Federal Circuit Courts have been flipped to a GOP majority, and the 9th Circuit Court is close to being flipped. Not to mention there's the Supreme Court as soon as when RBG dies.

This is surely a significant factor in the impeachment farce. President Trump is targeting the American Leftoid’s major source of power: Activist judges.

They have no other way of stopping him or at least slowing him down short of the current farce, and scant chance of taking back the White House or Senate in 2020.

By the time President Trump leaves office in 2025, the GOP will have a 7-2 majority in the Supreme Court. As well as a majority in almost every Circuit Court of Appeals.

What the Dems are doing now is the following:

1. Stall for time.

2. Make one last ditch huge effort to cow Trump before Election 2020.

3. Rile up supporters not just for extra turnout next election but to have someone who'll listen to their subtle calls for terrorism and other acts of social justice (the listeners being BLM and La Raza thugs, tumblr terrorists, Boomer LARPers, etc.).

Blogger Akulkis December 19, 2019 6:07 PM

It would be mighty interesting if Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and the others all discovered their tax returns had been leaked.

Sitting on it buys them time. Time when something, anything they might use could come to light. Rope a dope doesn't work if your opponent won't play by your rules. The dems keep forgetting that Trump doesn't play by their rules like the cucks do.

Cali and NY both passed the majority vote law. If Trump wins the popular vote he automatically takes California and New York.

Very unlikely. HRC got double the popular vote Trump did in CA, and nearly double in NY. While laws neutering the electoral college should be abolished, it's nothing but virtue signaling in NY/CA.

Ah, but that's the poetic justice of this: The law they passed means that whichever candidate wins the NATIONAL popular vote will get their electoral college votes. So, if Trump beats Biden/Bernie/Warren/Canklebeast in the popular vote in 2020 50.1%-49.9%, California, New York, and a few other states will, by their own law, be forced to hand their electoral college votes to Trump, even if the Democrat wins the state by 99%-1%.

We'll know how badly they expect to be crushed next November by how fast they repeal those laws.

I noticed ultra cuck Justin Amash lecturing members of his former party for not joining him in his cuckery. Don't they see that backing Trump and not giving the left another unopposed victory is betraying their precious principles? How on earth does someone get this retarded?

The Senate sets the schedule for the trial right?

Can Mitch set a date, take a vote, then void the impeachment? Or can the Senate censure the House? Either way, i hope that treason trials start up soon.

Blogger Dire Badger December 19, 2019 7:06 PM

The problem is, is it possible to wait until after the senate elections and THEN send the impeachment bill, in hopes that they can steal those 33 seats, even if the house loses a democrat majority?

Any Texans here? I'm for a serious discussion of a TEXIT. We are not getting a damn thing of value from the federal government. I'd have Trump as an honorary citizen of the Republic of Texas and round up the Bush family for deportation though I would prefer execution.

Check out the US pastor council, HQ in Houston. If we are to organize, political networking between churches is the best bet. I disagree with abandoning our brothers and sisters in other states just yet. Let us end this whole catastrophic empire here.

That dog don't hunt. The House doesn't do the trial, it's the Senate that tries the impeached President.

what you're talking about applies only to impeachment.

what he's talking about is the various lawfare efforts the Demoncrats are launching in the federal courts. the President can still be sued. he's saying that the successful House impeachment will provide justification for a federal judge to demand that Trump turn his documentation over in a lawsuit before the court.

I mean new evidence often comes up in trials but it seems reckless to indict without believing you can convict.

so, if i understand you correctly, you don't think that Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler or Occasional Cortex are "reckless"?

They have no hard and acceptable evidence to see Trump out of office or barred from re-election for the "lawsuits" you speak of.

And the Dems' antics aren't that reckless when you accept they don't actually expect to drive Trump from office. The point is again, to do one of these:

1. Cow Trump so he does what they want.

2. Buy time so that they can begin future maneuvers.

3. Give something to rile up those radicalized against Trump something to raise up votes and engage in terrorism for.

This smacks of the kind of desperation that a person who's poorly managed their money has when they spend every last penny they have on lotto tickets. They believe the dramatic nature of the act will net them a huge payout, since they're the hero of their own story. (And the hero always has to achieve a miraculous win in the end, you know.)

I think all you seriously need to do for a TEXIT is to sit tight for about 10-12yrs.

But to prevent the descent into the 1840's, you're going to have to work on a parallel currency that doesn't rely on connectivity to the internet to use.

No. As I noted above, the current Congress expires when the new one is sworn in. Any actions not completed expire with them. The new Congress has not impeached Trump, and can't send the articles of impeachment from the old Congress over. They become null and void. The new Congress would have to restart the impeachment from scratch. And there's nothing new about this. It's always been the case. If Pelosi is being told otherwise; she's being lied to.

Considering how the forces of social justice are deeply connected with capeshit and other forms of children's entertainment, this is a rather appropriate comment.

The Dem strategy is simple: Do what you are told by the puppet masters.

The deep question is, Who are the puppet masters?

Blogger Jack Amok December 19, 2019 10:15 PM

Cali and NY both passed the majority vote law. If Trump wins the popular vote he automatically takes California and New York.

In that case, CA and NY dems would suddenly discover the popular vote thing is unconstitutional. Especially if those votes were the difference between winning and losing the EC.

They always forget two things.

One, there's a difference between the hero and the viewpoint character. They're often the same, but not always.
Second, sometimes the hero is a martyr.

Cocaine Mitch just needs to call a press conference, walk up to the mikes, say "The Senate does not answer to the House" and walk away.

Blogger OneWingedShark December 20, 2019 10:42 AM

Now what would happen if the Senate came and forcibly demanded the articles of impeachment?

Blogger MrNiceguy December 20, 2019 7:59 PM

In her defense, if I had to wake up every morning, look in the mirror, and say, "My God, I'm Nancy Pelosi," I'd be reaching for the bottle, too.
