Sexual immorality and the decline of the West

This summary of J.D. Unwin's work from the 1930s is the practical application of the theoretical argument that connects Western post-Christianity to the observable decline of the West:
  1. Effect of sexual constraints: Increased sexual constraints, either pre or post-nuptial, always led to increased flourishing of a culture. Conversely, increased sexual freedom always led to the collapse of a culture three generations later.
  2. Single most influential factor: Surprisingly, the data revealed that the single most important correlation with the flourishing of a culture was whether pre-nuptial chastity was required or not. It had a very significant effect either way.
  3. Highest flourishing of culture: The most powerful combination was pre-nuptial chastity coupled with “absolute monogamy”. Rationalist cultures that retained this combination for at least three generations exceeded all other cultures in every area, including literature, art, science, furniture, architecture, engineering, and agriculture. Only three out of the eighty-six cultures studied ever attained this level.
  4. Effect of abandoning prenuptial chastity: When strict prenuptial chastity was no longer the norm, absolute monogamy, deism, and rational thinking also disappeared within three generations.
  5. Total sexual freedom: If total sexual freedom was embraced by a culture, that culture collapsed within three generations to the lowest state of flourishing — which Unwin describes as “inert” and at a “dead level of conception” and is characterized by people who have little interest in much else other than their own wants and needs. At this level, the culture is usually conquered or taken over by another culture with greater social energy.
  6. Time lag: If there is a change in sexual constraints, either increased or decreased restraints, the full effect of that change is not realized until the third generation.
Thanks to the rationalist generations that preceded them, the first generation of a society setting aside its sexual restraints can still enjoy its new-found sexual freedom before any significant decline in culture, but the data shows that this “having your cake and eating it too” phase lasts a maximum of one generation before the decline sets in. Unwin wrote:

The history of these societies consists of a series of monotonous repetitions; and it is difficult to decide which aspect of the story is the more significant: the lamentable lack of original thought which in each case the reformers displayed, or the amazing alacrity with which, after a period of intense compulsory continence (sexual restraint), the human organism seizes the earliest opportunity to satisfy its innate desires in a direct or perverted manner. Sometimes a man has been heard to declare that he wishes both to enjoy the advantages of high culture and to abolish compulsory continence. The inherent nature of the human organism, however, seems to be such that these desires are incompatible, even contradictory. The reformer may be likened to the foolish boy who desires both to keep his cake and to consume it. Any human society is free to choose either to display great energy or to enjoy sexual freedom; the evidence is that it cannot do both for more than one generation.

Looking at our own sexual revolution, the “having your cake and eating it too” phase would have lasted into the early 2000’s. We are now at a stage where we should begin to observe the verification or falsification of Unwin’s predictions.
As any honest observer would readily conclude, Unwin's predictions are being verified with a vengeance. The solution is simple: walk the narrow path. Get married. Be faithful. Have children. And then plant the acorns that will grow into the mighty oaks underneath which your great-grandchildren will play.

Unwin makes it clear that he does not know why sexual freedom directly leads to the decline and collapse of cultures

Why would sex junkies be any less deleterious to a functioning society than any other sort of junkie? This is the easiest question to answer.

As a GenXer, I remember vividly the contrast between my grandmother, who thought it absurd that a woman would want to run for president or be an astronaut (they should stay home where they belong! she said), versus the lunatic degeneracy of the Boomers: pot, free-love (neither free nor love), and the divorce crisis that decimated my family and friends. The negative effects hit us immediately, but we still had older teachers and mentors who were products of more traditional sexual mores. God-willing, we can product outposts of sanity as the surrounding culture continues its slide.

I wonder if there is a direct cause/effect linkage between sexual freedom and the end of civilization, or if there is a third, more important driver producing both degeneracy and societal collapse? The loss of Christianity seems a good contender.

His theory seems very sound. Sexual Freedom for many leads to a form of prison. A prison where the warden is a person's passion. For sex is all they think about to the exclusion of all else. The third generation must be where the perverts gain control of the society and end up tearing it down.

Blogger Zaklog the Great December 09, 2019 9:34 AM

The conclusion is so obvious that it’s nearly embarrassing to see someone write it out in academic form.

As for why, although there is surely more, here are 2 simple factors: sex is a powerful motivator. If you make it easy for men to get sex, they won’t exert themselves much for it. If you make it difficult, men will do amazing things in order to get sex. Second, restricting sex is also regulating parentage, and children do best in 2 biological parent homes. Yes, yes, abusive biological parents. Yes, wonderful single mothers who give everything for their kids. Fine. You know a tall Chinese guy. Doesn’t change the overall facts.

Like I said, my first reaction on seeing this was, yeah, and grass is green; the ocean is wet. Any other shocking news?

if Griffin is correct that Udwin considers a gen to be 33 years, then three of Udwin's gens is a century, give or take.

which is 5-7 gens for the way most sociologists consider generations.

All you have to do is to look at at 40 year generational cycle.

1930 - The Anglicans were the first Christian denomination to open the door to artificial contraception in very limited circumstances. The first time any major denomination ever approved it.

1970s - Porn becomes mainstream and legal, no fault divorce appears, birth rates begin non-replacement levels. Every protestant denomination has accepted contraception - the Catholic Church promulgates Humane Vitae declaring that it is always immoral. The Orthodox still seem aligned with the traditional and Catholic position.

2010 - Gay marriage, completely emasculated men, porn has progressed to previously unimagined disturbing levels, trans stuff begins to become mainstream, birth rates have collapsed nearly everywhere. Catholics are starting to use NFP as a natural form of birth control instead of as a means to avoid pregnancy in grave situations. The orthodox world seems to now leave the use of contraception up to the couple - almost a complete break down in teaching on the subject. Catholic annulments are being handed out like candy at Halloween, and divorce in Orthodoxy is high. So Catholicism has held the theological line and settled it dogmatically, but the practice among the faithful is not much above the general public.

@45 VD

Adding to Vox's point, on the "run your mouth; porch tour" podcast, a professor of history (I forget her name, but she was a fan of BB) mentioned that the homosexuality/pedophilia in ancient Greco-Roman world was largely confined to the ruling aristocracies. It reminded me of the whole Pedophile Island situation we have today.

So on the one hand, since the masses of people in ancient times didn't practice this degeneracy, the civilization was able to keep surviving. But on the other hand, this degeneracy among the elites can perhaps be blamed for the constant political chaos that fills nearly every page of ancient history. And we are seeing the same sort of political chaos in Washington today.

Romans 1:18 says "For the wrath of God IS revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men," Which means that we don't have to wait for the return of Jesus Christ to see God's judgment on the world. Sin is destroying the sinner here and now. It might not be immediate in our short sighted human point of view, but the destructive process of sin is unavoidable. And only those who live by faith have the clarity of sight to see what is really going on.

Thanks for this blog post Vox, it's really fascinating stuff.

Blogger KPKinSunnyPhiladelphia December 09, 2019 12:17 PM

There are many terrific insights in Charles Murray's book "Coming Apart," but this is by far the most salient.

That in America today, the high income cognitive elite (whether left or right) generally follow bourgeois values -- marriage, children, dedication to work -- while the lower classes, encouraged by the elite's promulgating the licentious values Urwin describes, descends into a cultural abyss.

America is "coming apart."

I think, though, that this a phase. Right now the cognitive elite are becoming more converged and will eventually descend more completely down the path of cultural degradation, driven by both cultural relativism and third wave feminist imperatives.

I can rattle off a bunch of couples I know who married in graduate school and who have not had, and will not have, children. And of course have no problem with easy divorce.

Stigmas are for squares.

It's all about career, money, and having a "nice time."

Thus civilization collapses.

Blogger Stilicho December 09, 2019 12:25 PM

Boomers generally fail to understand that what they experienced was the first post-constraint milieu: all of the advantages of the civilization and culture built upon that constraint and the sexual license to indulge themselves. They cannot understand why everyone else can't have what they had.

Gen X had a small taste of the civilization and culture--enough to know what they are missing. They wonder how to get back there and tend to focus on how to at least achieve something like that for their families.

Millenials generally don't understand what they missed out on and are searching for something that they can't often identify. Diversity, globalism, multiculturalism, sexual license, etc. have not provided a satisfying substitute, they want to save the world, but don't know from what.

Gen Zyklon never experienced it either, but they know full well that the current year version is completely screwed up and they are unhappy about it. They laugh at millenials and have a sneaking suspicion that they hate the Boomers. Eventually, I expect they will widely oppose the entire globohomo narrative. Sexual constraint may come as part of a return to traditional Christian morality or combined with the rejection of the narrative.

Blogger dc.sunsets December 09, 2019 12:32 PM

Whether you call it "original sin" or ancient cognitive pathways (impulsive cognition), humans are clearly designed to walk a path of temptation where most will stumble.

Humans in society can either assist each other in taming their passions, or they can "profit-maximize" by enabling their fellowmen's self-destructive impulses. Impulsive desires for sex, food, novelty, belonging, all are positives under one context, self-destructive under all others. What is sexual hedonism but gluttony at the buffet? What is the Cargo Cult of Equalism but a frenzy to belong? We live in the Age of Drive-Through access to vice.

Everything we experience becomes a part of us. Time is the one asset we can neither add nor multiply, but we must divide. Every moment spend in Entropy World is lost forever.

We live in a time when we are offered continuous invitation to add broken furniture to our attic. Time to go do something civilized.

I think there's a breaking point / last straw moment where Christ removed Himself, and His restraint from us, but since we're looking at this from other angles, this one is relevant:
Technology and it's gatekeepers. There was printed material, then radio, then TV, now the internet. All kinds of people making all kinds of content. It's exponential, like compound interest.

There have been some significant changes in recent history like the availability of birth control pills, health care and the level of wealth now attained by so many. Wealth provides greater opportunity for idleness, the health care system cures many of the STDs and birth control lessens the consequences of licentious behavior. Overall it seems these are more than likely to accelerate the decline.

Blogger dc.sunsets December 09, 2019 3:13 PM

@60 Possibly you misinterpret the timing aspect of this. If the full consequences of this arrive in "the last third of this century," then you'll have to append a lot of "greats" to your grandchildren who will have (presumably) benefited from re-establishment of traditional restraints.

For what little it's worth, it's not that rewarding to worry about the world you cannot control. For me, it's enough to put effort into civilizing my own family as well as walking my own talk. I think Nock is right (in Isaiah's Job), that none of us can alter the Path ahead, all we can do is walk it as best we can.

I can't persuade others to observe traditional mores. I can control myself, and with hope, communicate to my kids/grandkids "The Whys," not just "The Whats." There's a perfectly reasonable rationale for rejecting the hedonistic approach now fashionable. Sadly, not everyone can chart their own course, even if they're shown how to do so.

I think these times are analogous to 100 AD, about a fifth of the way into the decline of the Western Roman Empire. You're looking at a very long time indeed before the society to which your descendants belong will be in the "renewal" phase. But all of us have ancestors who survived that time (somewhere on Earth.) Our "children" will have to try to do so, or our lineage will be removed from the Tree of Humanity.

Blogger Azure Amaranthine December 09, 2019 3:27 PM

"How can we prevent a sexual revolution from happening again with our grand grandchildren, assuming the next generations will succed in returning to these traditional restraints?"

Where there is abundance, only discipline will suffice to avoid decadence. The attractive motivations of doing the right thing are readily ignored when you can have most of the same rewards without much effort.

If the carrot doesn't work the stick must be applied. Predictions and threats won't do, man has very little awareness while already satiated and will disbelieve what he would have to expend effort to perceive.

Ultimately though, faithfulness is toward eternity and eternity toward God. Until we are completely rectified, it's practically a matter of time until we fail.

"Now we know why they can't land men on the moon anymore."

If the reception I'm getting from people who should have some energy expertise is a clue, problems with keeping the lights on will spread to Western Australia pretty soon (they've already hit South Australia).  It remains to be seen if things will get to African levels or the public will demand that the adults be put back in charge.  When wishful thinking is held equal to running the numbers, things collapse.  Pedestrian foot bridges to whole electric grids, things will not stay up.

"Polygamous marriage, bacha bazi and goat-bothering might be other factors."

Those look like consequences to me.  They're the outlets for men who can't afford even one wife, because the richest have monopolized them.  And of course they destroy societal investment because a man with no prospect for children has no reason to look to the future.

Blogger Nathan Hornok December 09, 2019 4:11 PM

@ furor kek tonicus agreed. I read the 26 pages of quotes from Unwin's book that was link to in the article Vox referenced. Unwin is heavily influenced by Freudian nonsense and other egalitarian BS. It is funny that after 25 pages of showing how sexual repression is beneficial, he then basically says the women need to be free and we should just hope they don't act like licentious men. While his survey of societal success and the link to sexual behavior is very valuable, I think his analysis is good is some ways but really flawed in other ways.

One of his key ideas that he says over and over again, is that the sexual restraint present in higher societies results in a sort of pent up energy that gets diverted toward other activities that builds the society to high levels of achievement. He's looking at it through a kind of Freudian lens that I reject. While this mechanistic/materialist view of human behavior might play some causal role, I don't think it captures the real view of human morality.

Just as hive insects (like bees or termites) can build amazingly complex and what appears to be rational civilizations by each individual insect acting according to it's correct behavioral rules, so to, humans are meant to have flourishing civilizations if they act according to higher moral rules. The central principles of these higher moral rules are stated in the 10 commandments. Just as the insects are not rational creatures, but they can benefit from carrying out rational (rule based) behavior, humans (who do have some rational capabilities) can benefit from carrying out a higher level (divine moral law) of behavior that the humans themselves may not be able to fully understand. None of this has to do with finding outlets for pent up energies. It is simply a matter of engaging in beneficial (moral) behavior instead of degenerate behavior.

The final take away is that Unwin's work shows the benefits of obeying "thou shalt not commit adultery" whether the society obeyed this rule because of direct divine revelation or not. And the extent to which any civilization is able to benefit, is to the same degree they comply with this law. Absolute monogamy being the greatest level of compliance with this moral law shows the greatest benefit. With lesser levels of compliance (like modified monogamy, or absolute polygamy) showing lesser levels of benefit.

This topic is fascinating to me, so I could go on with more critiques of Unwin's quotes, but I fear I've already created a gamma wall of text, so I'll stop here.

Although it's not directly responsible, one of the safeguards of marriage was removed by the protestant reformation, particularly in England where marriage was the focus of breaking communion with the Catholic church. The English people were done a great disservice by having a well established church replaced by one with no legitimate reason for existing. I don't know the history of religion in America well but if they followed the Anglican path then the Americans were done a great disservice as well. On the bright side, it took 400 years for the effects to start being seen thanks to the strength of the English culture, so the loss of a church that makes sense wasn't a very significant factor. The rules were changed but everyone ignored them because it didn't fit their cultural values.

It began with Darwin's theory and its acceptance by the intelligentsia.

The Scopes Monkey Trial (first ever nationally broadcast trial - by radio), with nationally known lawyers Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryant, brought the issue of evolution squarely before the American People and resulted in a significant acceptance of evolutionary theory.

Colluding conditions:
* Prohibition and the widespread disregard for Law and Order at all levels of society
* The great depression placed stress on familial relationships everywhere
* WWII mobilized millions of men into the armed forces and millions of women into the workforce

Romans 1:22-25 applies here, because following WWII there was a widespread acceptance of evolution. Due to the GI Bill, the number of seats in universities and colleges increased 8-fold between 1947 and 1961. Evolution was generally accepted and taught as fact at that level.

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity that their bodies might be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever, Amen.

I think the hallmark of the Generation of Impurity came in 1960, when the FDA approved the pill for birth control. Women's hypergamy was free to run wild. This curse of impurity continued but God progressed to the next step in the next generation.

Romans 1:26-27:

For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another men with men committing indecent acts and receiving the penalty of their error.

My research iindicates the degrading passion Paul speaks of is feminism, not lesbianism, because woman was created to be a man's helper as his wife and mother to his children to allow him to fulfill his mission of being fruitful.

The first commandment God gave to man (woman not created yet) was to be fruitful and multiply. That still applies to all men today. According to Jesus, in Matthew 19, unless a man does not marry in order to further the Kingdom of God, he is required to marry and have a family.

I put this generation from 1972 to 2001, because AIDS has a mean incubation period in adults of 8 years and AIDS was first identified in 1982. Additional points:

*Stonewall riots, 1969
*California got the first no-fault divorce law in 1970 and by 1975 over half of all states had passed no-fault divorce laws.
*End of gold standard in 1971
*Equal Rights Amendment passed Congress in 1972
*Roe v Wade inflicted on America in 1973
*Paris Peace Accords (Vietnam) 1973
*OPEC oil embargo gasoline shortage 1973
*Watergate scandal 1973, Nixon resigns 1974

I see 9/11 as the end of the second generation of the prophesy and the beginning of the third.

Romans 1:28
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper

Read the description in verses 29-31

and, although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

*Lawrence v Texas struck down all laws regarding sodomy and homosexual activity in 2003.
*Obergefell v. Hodges legalized so-called "gay marriage" in 2015

That pretty much describes this generation.

I would throw in contraceptives and abortion as part of the sexual revolution/freedom. This author would not have included these because they would not have been readily available to most earlier cultures. In our time, they have definitely contributed to the decrease in populations in western countries. While at the same time, third world countries have continued to produce growing populations. I read in a book written in the 40s, India had less than 400 million people back then, and Iran was less than 20 million, and Mexico was less than 30 million. These countries populations have tripled or even quadrupled from that time. While many western countries populations have stayed the same or even became smaller.

"I mean such a thing as the following. In our time all Greece was visited by a dearth of children and generally a decay of population, owing to which the cities were denuded of inhabitants, and a failure of productiveness resulted, though there were no long-continued wars or serious pestilences among us. If, then, any one had advised our sending to ask the gods in regard to this, what we were to do or say in order to become more numerous and better fill our cities,—would he not have seemed a futile person, when the cause was manifest and the cure in our own hands? For this evil grew upon us rapidly, and without attracting attention, by our men becoming perverted to a passion for show and money and the pleasures of an idle life, and accordingly either not marrying at all, or, if they did marry, refusing to rear the children that were born, or at most one or two out of a great number, for the sake of leaving them well off or bringing them up in extravagant luxury. For when there are only one or two sons, it is evident that, if war or pestilence carries off one, the houses must be left heirless: and, like swarms of bees, little by little the cities become sparsely inhabited and weak."

Could it be that high culture can support maladaptive human organisms leading towards society wide dysgenesis? Mentally handicapped people often lack the ability to refrain from base behaviour. yahoo just bathes in the salacious drama never suspecting they are revealing the fatal flaw with abort! Abort! ABORT!

The mother and father are changed forever by the experience... in a very negative way. They'll never be the same. Even though they're morally corrupt, cold-hearted baby slayers, they cannot detach and slay without conscience. Of course, PP is in the mix too. No surprise, they made it even worse.

I don't think this is a Boomer or Millennial or Gen-Zyklon problem... it's a human nature problem. It's fundamentally evil and without repentance... no one's going to do better.

[Nathan Hamill] took me to an abortion clinic at 21 weeks where I learned it would be a major procedure. I told the nurse at Planned Parenthood what was happening, and I showed her the emails and messages. She told me it was coercion, and I shouldn’t have the abortion if I didn’t want to do. She offered to give me paperwork stating I’d gotten it done.

Under stress, I lied, which I know wasn’t right to do. I let Nathan think I went through with it. I told him it was done. I wanted to see if what he told me was true — that he’d be there for me after. But he immediately told me he didn’t want anything to do with me. He had just been telling me what I wanted to hear to get what he wanted. He wanted it taken care of with no thought of my feelings. I’m sure he’s used to getting his way.

I don't know the history of religion in America well but if they followed the Anglican path

America was founded by Protestant dissidents to the Anglican 'church', most of whom the Anglicans were persecuting. amongst these denominations were Puritans, Quakers, Methodists, Baptists and Brethrens.

Under the Act of Uniformity 1559, it was illegal not to attend official Church of England services, with a fine of one shilling (£0.05; about £19 today[4]) for each missed Sunday and holy day. The penalties included imprisonment and larger fines for conducting unofficial services. The Seditious Sectaries Act of 1593 was specifically aimed at outlawing the Brownists. Under this policy, the London Underground Church from 1566, and then Robert Browne and his followers in Norfolk during the 1580s, were repeatedly imprisoned. Henry Barrow, John Greenwood, and John Penry were executed for sedition in 1593.

the majority of the large quantity of German immigrants was Lutheran or Menno / Baptist and tended to also be fleeing persecution, whether by the Lutherans or the Catholics.

I've always found the excessive prurience that has taken hold in western societies to be quite discomfiting. In my youth i felt that this perception must stem from a prudishness on my part, and lack of experience with sexual matters, but even now after many years i feel the same way, a note of disgust at the salacious drives of my peers and their inability to make more of human relationships than using each other as mutual masturbation aids for a time before moving apart like slow motion ships in the night. It's this dissolute, self-indulgent attitude that is the motive force behind nearly every ill of our time; the harnessing of sexual interest's powerful nature, and misdirection of it to no good end. As many greater men than i have aptly pointed out before, that's what war is at its basest level. That, and it's all a nice money spinner for some people. They attacked the foundation stones on which solid culture is built: women and the church. Now look how we stand, hardly a sturdy purchase to be found. I'll read Unwin's work some time hopefully as it seems to hit the nail squarely on the head in relation to the state of our world. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It's not hard. Enforced Monogamy (complete with discrimination against untrustworthy males) is the only option that ensures that the bulk of males who belong to the society will contribute reliably. All other options lead right into baby daddies and open pimping as seen in pre-state societies (as Jew Stevie Pinker calls them). As for faggotry in Greece, it was far more regulated than today's faggotry. It was never acceptable for a citizen of the polis to penetrate another citizen (who would always be males) for one. The older males were required to ask permission from the younger male's father. It was considered embarrassing for two proper citizens to court each-other. Citizens were forbidden to prostitute themselves or otherwise behave like women.

I remember long ago speaking with my Catholic priest about birth control. His passionate soliloquy on the topic stunned me. "The Protestants have made a tremendous mistake!" he said. He made an argument along the slippery-slope line that you might imagine. Sex as recreation, divorce and abortion necessarily followed he claimed, and much worse. And it would wreck family structures, he claimed, noting that sexual and familial matters are inextricably linked to one another. How could they not be? One begets the other.

The Catholic position is so far outside of modernity it's troubling. Troubling that modernity has gotten so far out of whack, that is. Pedophile priests and idiot popes are I suspect tools of our Enemy to misdirect an to obscure the fact that the truth is still there being proclaimed by our Holy Church.

"He's looking at it through a kind of Freudian lens that I reject."

He's absolutely right. Everything in such close proximity has effect on everything else to an extent. Even such different religions as Daoism have the same concept. Most cultures on Earth consider a man to be "potent" in a very important sense entirely due to his ability to impregnate a woman. If that potence is wasted into contraception, pornography, or prostitutes, a man is expending his very real life force and drive for naught.

Here's a repackaging to fit your sanitary needs: Any time a desire or motivation is satisfied in one way, its motive force is expended for a while. We see the same interaction with faux-right gatekeepers looking to short-circuit righteous anger so that it doesn't go and accomplish what it ought to.

It's a part of spiritual warfare. Like a pneumatic system, if air is leaking before it gets to the load it's intended to lift, the load isn't going to be lifted. You have to fix the leaks before the system can perform as it ought.

As you are saying, and as we already knew, it was sanctioned pedophilia, and so much so that non-pedophilic versions of it were not allowed. They would say that it was a terrible thing to be done to an adult, but let's do it to children. Children are flexible, they spring back, and by the time they're big enough to kill you for it, they probably don't care so much anymore. No muss, no fuss. Let the old consume the young for the lulz.

Saying that it was less of a problem than what we have today would be the same as saying that the rowboat being three-quarters full of water is excellent, because it keeps it from rocking. That terrible, perturbing rocking when the fight was still being fought, that was the worst. Surrender is quiet and sweet... sit back and enjoy the decline.

Sure it was regulated. It was required to be worse. No. Hell no. Save a child, sleep with your wife.

Talking in terms of morality is the bluepilled tradcuck position, we need to talk in terms of reinstuting patriarchy and abolishing female choice. A woman's father should decide who her suitors are and which of them she marries (at least up until a certain age at which point the 1st honest single man can claim any single woman) and the marriage should be a coverture marriage.

What an excellent post, link and book. Fr. Peck's 26-page collection of quotes (see article) summarizes Unwin for those who cannot read the book.

Consider also the spiritual warfare: striking at the heart of the family fatally weakens society. Satan wants nothing less than to bring mankind down. Being a husband and father is critical (unlike how media mocks family men); we teach our daughters to value modesty, service and quality men and our sons to value competence, bravery and hard work.

I struggle to think of any work more important that building and supporting a family. Good men and women are answering the call, but it seems we are bound to be the minority as sheeple flock to cities and their totems of Wokeness. Well, just think: hard times are always an opportunity to build resilience and character.

Finally, no matter how hard the future may be, Christians have perfect peace. Most of us cannot control the trajectory we're on, but we can work in our little spheres to be the Salt and Light.

"Feminism is the theory. Lesbianism is the practice."

I have no idea who you are quoting, but that is a lie.

Feminism, at its root, is the rejection of male authority over women and the belief that women and men are equal. This is a complete rejection of God's order of creation and His roles for men and women.

Read Nummbers 30, then read it again.

Men who support the idea that men and women are equal are actually rejecting the responsibility that God gave them. This too is a rejection of God's order of Creation and His roles for men and women.

Lesbianism is not only a rejection of men and marriage, but the extreme form of such with women partnering with women. Why would any reasonable man give credence to the pontifications of bat-shit crazy women?

Incels, though, are depressed and despairing. I think there's a tiny segment who think they can affect change around them, but right now they are a counter-cultural blip in the overall culture. It will take some time for them to gain purchase and if Unwin is correct, that counter culture segment will be the ones leading/inspiring the generation that begins rebuilding or preservers of knowledge for the rebuilding generation (like the post-Rome monks).
