The next battle

As you may have heard by now, the Big Bear was just deplatformed by YouTube. This should be interesting, as it will be the first time the Dread Ilk and the Bears have had the opportunity to team up and go into battle together.

It's going to be a blast!

Also, be sure to sign up for the book club so we can email you to get in touch with you if Google goes after the Darkstream or this blog. And if you still haven't signed up for Unauthorized yet, this is a great time to do so.

I think Semper Fish may be a little TOO fired up, based on his reaction to the news:

As the smoke cleared from the direct assault upon the House of Bear, a hush whisper of malcontent began to rise from the smoldering havoc of the wicked onslaught. The dim twilight began to fade and cause flickers of light to abandon the savagery, but for a moment, a sense of anguish clung heavy in the mist. For the enemy had engaged in open war and they scoffed with pride at the opening salvo of ruin they wrought.

Then suddenly and without hesitation, there arose a trembling roar that gained with intensity. As if a long dead yet undisturbed tree was caressed by thousands of souls on fire which detonated into a racous pyre... AAAHHH! The unison voices bellowed in rage! These were the legions approaching to the aid of House of Bear. At the front of this company stood a mighty Dark Lord adorned with the skulls of previous campaigns and he showed no sign of gloom, but even a smile of satisfaction for the total war he is now sanctioned to unleash.

Around this devastation grew an incandescence and an appearance of vague figures on the boundary of the stalwart Dark Lord. These minions seemed to move hovering over the ground as if the very air was under their spell, and all were faceless with a vile intent to grind down the enemy until only skulls remain.

Now once the shouting assembly of distant voices began to gather their numbers, their bodies moving gave way to clanging of metal ladles and various kettles filled with hot gravy. Their stomping paws shook the ground almost to the point of not distinguishing the vast array of snarling creatures whose ilk was already in formation and dreadful indeed.

This army is being readied for the battle to come, and may Almighty God bless them and have mercy on the souls of their enemies!

Just announcing the intention to fight back can bring a skull or three. Who will be the first?

Blogger anorganicbear December 03, 2019 11:44 PM

Gary was just a typical conscript for the Silicon Army. He didn't know his masters, and he didn't want to. All he knew was the Silicon Army was renowned throughout the world as having never suffered a defeat. Their secret? They found, bought, and enslaved as many wizards as they could find to bolster their troops with enchantments and support spells.

Gary trotted along in file with the other men in his squad. He didn't consider them brothers. He didn't even know their names. Everyone was nameless and faceless in the Silicon Army, and saying the wrong thing to the wrong person was an easy way to end up in the gallows, or worse, as part of some wizard's experiment.

Still, it was an easy job. The spells that ensorcelled the soldiers kept them from getting tired or hungry, they never became ill, injuries were magicked away, they had super speed and strength, and victories were always accompanied with a bonus and free reign on the conquered people. It was an easy life and it paid well.

This latest uprising by The Bear Army, some adjunct to the Dark Lord who had been a thorn in the side of the Grabbler Empire for decades, would be the first offensive in their attempts to take down this nuisance once and for all.

It didn't take long for the scouts to locate the enemy army. The fools had come willingly to do battle. No one willingly clashed with the Silicon Army anymore. Not unless they had a death wish. Apparently these bears should've named themselves lemmings.

As the forces arrayed to fight each other, A large man stepped forward from the enemy army. He raised his arms as if addressing a large crowd, and in a booming voice said merely two words: "Hoodily Daddle".

Pandemonium broke out. Every wizard in the Silicon Army simultaneously met a horrible end in one way or another. Some of them vomited up their vital organs, while others melted into puddles of liquid flesh. Some burst into flame, and some simply fell to the ground as if their hearts had stopped beating.

As the enchantments left him, Gary realized how exhausted he was from not sleeping for a fortnight, and how weak from running the hundred miles to reach this battlefield. Some of the soldiers standing beside him collapsed. Some didn't move after they went down. It was all Gary could do just to remain standing.

"Now git!" the booming voice said again. Looking around, even in his brain fogged state, Gary knew the few remaining soldiers on his side still on their feet would easily succumb to the enemy forces. He turned around and trudged slowly off the battlefield, listening to the cheers of the enemy army, victorious without even fighting.

Coincidentally, I'm reading Favour the Bold by Chris Nuttal. There are zero lessons to be learned from his fictional Space Marines, and I'm not sure what real principles of war could be applied here.

The entire dissident right is firmly engaged in chopping at the roots pf Google, which are essentially the supply lines to YouTube. That's going nowhere as long as most advertisers willingly feed their monopoly. I suppose Brave or blockchain based competitors could eventually replace adsense.

There is the Theory of Constraints... What is the limiting factor that controls the quantity of evil output? It may not be the supply line. It may be organization of the moderators. Can we cause their organization to adopt more stupid corporate policies?

There's the psychological: do to them what they hate. Censorship? Social opprobrium from elite corporate culture? Drag them into a mud fight.

OODA has no applicability without some sort of target or strategy.

No. Not in the slightest. This has been repeatedly addressed and you are a moron who is now banned for being excessively obtuse.

Why should anyone subscribe when Livestreaming is not a option?

You'll have to ask the nearly 7,000 subscribers that. Perhaps Livestreaming is less important to them than it is to you.

@VD I love you and Owen but @56 does have a point as you are asking for more subscribers to come to unauthorized because of what's just happened to Owen, who can no longer livestream which I'm really unhappy about what has happened to him, and you asking for them to come over even though he can't live stream at UA.

I would definitely subscribe to unauthorized for livestreams as that's what I love watching and being engaged with, but I don't see the point if livestreaming is not available. And you did say that was the reason why Unauthorized was built in the last livestream did you not?

I hope you don't think I'm being obtuse too as I love you guys for all you do, I can't afford much, so have to choose wisely what I support, and if you have live streaming, I would support, and to be fair this was the original intention as you have addressed this over the year with claims it would be up and running by august including power chats in preparation for events like this. While simultaneously fighting Patreon and YouTube, just to make it interesting.

What part of "we broke the model" did you not understand? We have the power chats running. We have the alternative payment processes running. But the bandwidth issue changed everything and forced us back to the drawing board. Seriously, do you not understand how absurdly ignorant your perspective is? Do you simply not grasp that we were promised things - actually, guaranteed things - that appeared to be true at the time that subsequently turned out to not be possible?

I was thinking about this tonight, and it's pretty clear Youtubes goose is cooked. They're just gonna pander to the MSM content, so I think it's better everyone just cuts the cord.

As for the live-streaming, DLive is just as good and they don't have some shadowy cucks throwing around their political opinions while hiding in the shadows like JewTube.

Vox, is there any chance you can get a MP3 Audio download button for UA? That's the main reason I like getting your guys' streams on YT

Blogger rekrapt December 04, 2019 9:58 AM

It is absolutely blowing my mind how clueless some people are about the costs involved to live-stream video. UATV doesn't have the bottomless pit of money the unprofitable YouTube has to prop up their ridiculous business model. You won't subscribe until there is livestreaming? But, you LOVE and SUPPORT VD and Owen? Seriously? You want live-streaming? Put your money where your mouth is or shut the fuck up about it. I'm not wealthy... I sometimes struggle from month-to-month to pay my bills. But, I was able to cut a few corners to subscribe to UATV. It is CRITICALLY important to support these ventures. I have all confidence that UATV will eventually deliver on live-streaming. And I will do whatever I can to support them until they do. Whiney ass bitches.

Blogger VD December 04, 2019 10:13 AM

It is absolutely blowing my mind how clueless some people are about the costs involved to live-stream video. UATV doesn't have the bottomless pit of money the unprofitable YouTube has to prop up their ridiculous business model.

YouTube spends $3.8 billion on infrastructure every year. They were estimated be losing about $750 million per year and that was before the bottom dropped out of the online advertising market. That's why they are thrashing around now. Google has obviously informed them that they have to start making money and they have no idea how to do it.

I should probably mention that we actually can livestream on Unauthorized RIGHT NOW. The livestreaming works. It has for months. The problem is that if we were to utilize it, we would break the existing infrastructure within the first week.

So, who sincerely thinks we should do that just because we said we would? There is a word for generals and coaches who refuse to alter their plans in the face of changing circumstances. And that word is "loser".

This sort of behavior is why I no longer provide dates or even estimates for anything. It will be ready when it is ready.

I am all of the above, what I meant is:
1. Can I as a European citizen with a European residence join the court case in California?
2. Or would (in case of an arbitration) the opponent even have to pay my flight to the place of arbitration according to Californian consumer law?
3. Or should I start a separate court case against Google here in Europe, hopefully together with some others - which I would possibly be prepared to do ...
btw: I joined a very small Patreon account of Owen's (with only about 12 members - strangely enough that was still there after he had been deplatformed from the big account) when I joined the Castalia Corporate Cancer Patreon project just to improve my position as a holder of a contractual agreement with Owen. The narrative against UATV is so goofy and bizarre.

Are these people pushing the narrative new to Youtube or just shameless liars?

Youtubers having their own website is not a new thing. These websites only having the same content as the Youtube channel is not a new thing. The donate/support/subscribe button is not a new thing. Youtubers directing their viewers to watch videos on the website instead of the Youtube channel is not a new thing. Planned projects being canceled because of some unforeseen complications is not a new thing. All it usually takes is a video explaining the cancellation and the complication that lead to it, and viewers understand.

All of this has been part of Youtube culture for at least a decade.

What's left is the assumption that people only go to UATV for livestreaming. That's just provably false. People have known for months that livestreaming won't happen. The subscription count didn't go down. Instead it went up. Livestreaming is not a priority for the subscribers. The end.

Blogger maniacprovost December 04, 2019 4:53 PM

the bandwidth issue changed everything

This sounds interesting. I don't watch darkstreams so I don't know what's going on, but I would have ignorantly thought that local netflix-style repeater servers were available on the cloud or something.

Virtually no one is doing that [attacking Google's roots] in any way, shape, or form. All they are doing is running from Google or submitting to them. Your observations, and therefore your attempt at analysis, is fundamentally flawed.

You're right. It was a terrible metaphor that sounds like the dissident right is attempting anything that would be effective directly or in the short term, which they are not doing. What I had in mind was the running away, which reduces Google's revenue on an imperceptible scale.

Logistics is tactics. But seriously... I have only 1% of the information I would need to guess at his goal. It's probably not attacking YouTube for the lulz. Without a goal, there is only jawboning about whatever catches our interest. Everyone hates YouTube and therefore attacking them is interesting, even if it's rather beside the point.

It'll be great to get YouTube legally sorted out with regards to their agreements made with the US government. This isn't a one-way street, they need to abide by their legal agreements as intended by Congress.

YouTube is losing money but this may be a decent business strategy (tactic?) if it orientates entire marketing departments into the Google Adsense camp.

In my mind it's a question of monopoly. Though 5G may end this anyway.

Alternatively, Chinese Apps are already better than most Western Apps (WeChat as an example). And they know it. I was in China last week for work and a few Chinese mentioned their students are more intelligent, better educated and many of their software etc... giants have now surpassed the West in quality. The writing is on the Wall. Westerners just refuse to read it.

Any thoughts on Google agreeing to pay $170 mil to the Federal Trade Commission? I felt this was a total shakedown of Google by the FTC. The FTC barely understands how the internet works. They didn't even stop to think how this will affect actual educational channels. Math, grammar, history, how-to videos, coding, etc.... It seems like they see a cash cow named Google. Typical of government regulators.

If the FTC were actually serious about protecting children then they'd censor Disney and close most studios in unHolyWierd.

Of course they said that. Have you met their students? Have you used their software?
Their students are useless regurgitators and their software is a barely usable mess.

@90 Snidely, yeah, I had a laugh at that too. Chinese think Chinese are the best? Shocking! If the Chinese have produced any quality software that's not for spying, they've been surprisingly unwilling to sell it like they do everything else.

Yeah, it sounds like Google trying to buy them off for pennies on the dollar before they start talking about real penalties.

That's not necessarily true. WeChat is onpar, and in some ways superior, with Line and WhatsApp (as an example of an smartphone App). This year 5G was being sold everywhere in China and quite a number of Western websites have ranked the Huawei P30 Pro as the best phone currently available.

That said, I do agree Chinese are patriotic and that for the most part quite a lot of Chinese do almost everything half-arsed. I'm not sure why that's the case. But it seems to have been for thousands of years. Maybe that's why Japan develped a culture of value-adding (to crack into the price conscious Chinese market) over the centuries.

I'd also note that many IT departments (not to mention other STEM subjects) in the West are composed of a lot of Chinese and E. Asians on average have a greater g as measued by their higher IQ (plus there's mostlikely b/w 1.4 to 1.7B of them). I wonder, how much of the real work at Google or Apple is being done by hard working Chinese expats living in the West? I recently read that Chinese math students are 4 grades more advanced than the average American. I would think that this would probably mean 1 or 2 grades above that average White American.

Anyway, those are my observations. Someone once said: The Chinese are a ruthless meritocracy. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then wouldn't it suggest that overtime, they's (not ours) will be the superior products? Just based on creative destruction? I don't know if that's the case, but it seems like it would be the case. At least in the long run.

Oh, I'm not a Sinophile. Their culture is fine for them. I prefer midWestern culture circa 1890 to 1980. Or so I think.

I'm not sure I agree about the FTC ruling. It seems that the videos are perfectly fine, but not the ads? THAT is what's protecting children? From the ADS? Walk down any city street - you'll see ads for everything and anything selling to anyone, including kids. But, anyway.

I've worked with Chinese engineers. Not useless, but useless on any project bigger than a webapp. They have a principled objection to teamwork.

Blogger Ominous Cowherd December 05, 2019 8:41 AM

@94, low trust and intensely competitive don't add up to teamwork.

I think a Chinese is more likely to trust and cooperate with a White than a fellow Chinese, because he may conciously think we won't stab him in the back. Unconconciously, he's still going to expect betrayal. Cooperation won't even start unless the chink sees your interests perfectly aligned with his own. Chinese Christians can move beyond this, a little.
