The next book

So, here's a question. It's not a poll, because who knows what I'll actually do, but I am interested in knowing what book the readers here would prefer to see published next by me in 2020:
  1. A Sea of Skulls extended edition
  2. The first SSH book, Alpha.
  3. Insert your pet project, which will almost certainly be ignored, here.
  4. Surprise me.
I take no offense at anyone who doubts that (1) will ever happen, because RR etc. I'm just curious to know what people actually think they want. And please keep in mind that what you think is more or less popular is not necessarily so. For example, SJWAL outsold ATOB 3:2 in 2019, while both outsold the much more recently published Jordanetics.

None of this has anything to do with Castalia Deluxe or any of our other projects. It's just about how I spend my limited writing time. And sometimes Calliope simply doesn't permit one to proceed in the direction one intends.

If this counts as a 3, I'd rather see sexual hierarchies demonstrated in narrative form, either in novels or shorts stories. Or drama, if that's something you do. Comics, even.

3. Dalrock territory, but I'm weary of all the SSH relationship material being focused on single men and fornication. Something that covers SSH after marriage and avoidance of the beta orbit or Delta cuckery rut.

Blogger RC December 26, 2019 9:39 AM

To me this question boils down to fun versus fight. I'd certainly enjoy SoSE but I believe the SSH will equip men sharpening their saws in the battle being joined.

The ratio of gammas versus healthy members of society is skyrocketing and it's important to have a societal barometer to measure and guide a recovery to norm. SSH should be timeless; your SSH taxonomy may end up being your most impactful work thus far.

Blogger MagnusStout December 26, 2019 9:41 AM

For posterity’s sake, #2 followed by #4 - “Unauthorized Economics.”

Reasons: Our civilization is collapsing as predicted by J.D. Unwin. God has given you an incredible intellect and I can’t think of anyone else on your level discussing the SSH. Please, consider writing a volume on that topic (even if parts of it are recycled from your website). It might be difficult to find your “wrongthink” in the future if not printed.

Second, I enjoyed your post on economics. I suggest writing a single volume on that topic for a general audience. You can always add a “reading list” at the end for more information.

Option 3.
I'll buy anything you write, Vox, but I wonder if Alpha is the book the world needs? - With the rise of Gammas everywhere, could you make a more valuable contribution to society by writing about who/what they are, and how they can overcome it?
I have been able to use what I've learnt from your 'SJW's Always...' books and your expositions on Gamma behaviour to accurately predict how certain people will behave, and I'm sure a book on Gamma would become an invaluable reference tool to many employers.

Vox,if you make a book explaining the SSH, you and your children will experience less gammas, and the total meltdown of the gammas in response will be the best form of marketing. It would be a profound gift to humanity in extending the common person's understanding of the world, and a book closer to SJWAL, from you, will preform better at market. I've read the current edition of ASOS a couple of times so what I REALLY want is the 3rd book.

At the end of ASOS the poop is about to hit the fan in Selenoth. Will the dwarves just hunker down in their underground cities and let the elves and men face the orcish hoards alone?

Is Marcus and his legion being set up by the King of Savondir? Is D'Anglise an Old One?

Does Bereth actually get another warhawk after hers was shot out from under her? Or does she decide that marrying the elven noble is a better deal than possibly getting fried by some orc or goblin shaman.

Does Lodi get the girl, er, dwarfess?

Not to mention what happens with Severa, Magnus and Amorr et al.

So Vox, do you still plan to write 5 books in the series?

What is most important? Probably the SSH book. You've already written an awful lot here and on the old AlphaGame blog about the topic. For a long-time blog reader, how much would a SSH book offer that hasn't already been said and illustrated repeatedly? With SJWAL, there were a lot of important things that were new and needed to be said. Still, a book on SSH might reach some audiences that the blog doesn't, which makes it important.

A decade later the company was badly under-performing so I returned as CEO. Holy apples, Batman! It had turned into Gamma central. While atob isn't the most creative thing ever, it is a solid, fairly creative piece that stands leagues out from it's competition. AODAL is always going to be incomplete until the final book in the series is finished...meanwhile there are multitudes of young men and parents who need guidance about the way the world works, which they aren’t going to get anywhere else. The Voxiversity videos are great but it takes a book (or years of reading here and at AG) for the concepts to really soak in.

I'm a little surprised at how much demand there is (at least in this sampling) for a book on nationalist (read: kingdom of God) economics, but at the same time, the need for proper treatments of economic theory has never been higher by my evaluation.

I'm a student of Dominionist policy, ie. Rushdoony and his lineage such as Gary North, which roots it all in Austrian thought. I'd imagine that in today's zeitgeist, Integralist policy would also be worthwhile, but I am less familiar with that branch of thought.

Does anyone have recommendations on the Integralism side of things? Synthesizing these two Christian traditions into something both sides find amenable with a healthy blend of nationalism at its core sounds like a worthwhile effort.

This is a little difficult given some of, for example, EMJ's weird economic stances, but perhaps there's enough commonality to start a conversation.

Back on-topic, I want ASOS.

Blogger Hammerli 280 December 26, 2019 1:40 PM

Want, or most likely? I'd like to see the Arts of Dark and Light series continued - Selenoth is an unfinished fantasy masterpiece.

But I think a book on the Socio-Sexual Hierarchy is most likely, because you can dash it off in a matter of days. I'd bet that if you started now, it would be up for sale Valentine's Day.

FWIW, three points I'd be inclined to make on SSH:

1. The ratio of Alpha to Beta to Delta is relatively fixed. The proportion of Gammas is NOT fixed. And can be zero or close to it.

2. The introvert side of the spectrum is still being fleshed out. The Sigma is an Alpha analog. The Omega is a Gamma analog. There should be Beta and Delta analogs.

3. One of the best examples of the difference between Alpha and Sigma is in Gone With The Wind. Ashley Wilkes is Alpha. Rhett Butler is Sigma. And Scarlett O'Hara is Evil.

3. SSH Sigma
2. SSH Alpha
1. SOS... although, I am enjoying ATOB right now.

Blogger Gabriel V December 26, 2019 1:47 PM

Sea Of Skulls would be nice

Blogger Ultrahardcore December 26, 2019 1:49 PM

I would be more interested in SSH Alpha than SOS but I also haven't read ATOB yet so I'm not craving a sequel like some people.

Blogger Rick W December 26, 2019 1:54 PM

ASOS extended but other items are more important. I keep remembering the orc captain getting dumped on by his superiors and subordinates like any first-line supervisor anywhere.

Blogger Bernard Brandt December 26, 2019 1:54 PM

While the votes would appear to be 'A Sea of Skulls', I note that the smart votes tend to be for a book on Social-Sexual Hierarchy.

As I fancy myself to be among the latter, being a prototypic Smart Boy myself, I vote SSH.

But, being the sort of cook that tends to make water in the soup, to add his personal flavor to things, I would suggest the sort of Pet Project that Vox is, of course, free to ignore.

A SSH/Alpha book would probably focus on the Alpha personality, as the first volume of a multi-volume set. It nonetheless should contain a summary of VD's development of SSH, taking it from the early days of the PUAs such as Heartiste, and giving a brief description of all of the players in that hierarchy (i.e., Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Sigma, and Omega).

I'd also like to see in such a book the distinction between Alpha and Sigma, and a corrective to that lot out on YouTube who are cashing in on the Sigma narrative to describe how you, too, can become a Sigma in your spare time.

Leading me to the following conjecture: most people who describe themselves as Sigma probably aren't.

Blogger English Tom December 26, 2019 2:05 PM

Sea of Skulls extended edition or The History of Christianity in Japan.

Blogger VD Bear December 26, 2019 2:08 PM

A sea of skulls by a mile. I am dubious of the people wanting SSH Alpha and Sigma Book. Understanding Alpha comes naturally (if you are not a secret king) and sigmas are few and far between. the most useful SSH book would be understanding/dealing with/overcoming gamma.

Blogger Eli December 26, 2019 2:09 PM

1. A finished Rebel's Run script.
2. A Sea of Skulls: Definitive Edition.
3. SSH: Alpha

That's the order I think your writing should prioritize. Also, Alt-Hero comic writing sprinkled in between these big three things. I figured comic writing doesn't take as long as the others so can be done when time allows.

Blogger Miles Plastic December 26, 2019 2:16 PM

Another book about convergence.

Blogger Silent Draco December 26, 2019 2:30 PM

1, but I expect 4. Something odd will emerge in late January, worthy of the SDL's writing attention.

Thinking out loud, a graphic novel of how a bi-metal Treasury and economy work, geared for HS-age readers, would be useful. Too many people of all ages think the plastic cards are money themselves.

Blogger Eruditionastic December 26, 2019 2:31 PM

Sea of Skulls extended is my personal choice.

SSH is second.

And lastly, (pet project or surprise I'm not sure) A book in the vein of Gorilla Mindset. One that puts ssh, philosophy, christianity, self-preservation, personal improvement, etc into one big ball of wax.

Blogger SirHamster December 26, 2019 2:33 PM

VD Bear wrote:the most useful SSH book would be understanding/dealing with/overcoming gamma.
On the subject of a useful SSH book, how to become Delta would go with overcoming Gamma. "Avoid that, be like this."

References to alpha would be about how to fit inside his frame and be a good delta follower.

How much of a role do deltas have in policing gammas?

Maybe include a bit about bravos as a stretch goal for deltas to aspire to.

Blogger TheSavro December 26, 2019 2:35 PM

A Sea of Skulls please

Blogger Weouro December 26, 2019 2:36 PM

How about an allegory like Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan, but instead of Christian the main character is Gamma working his way toward Deltatude? On his way he encounters Alpha and Bravo, wallows in the slough of despond, notices Omega for the first time, etc.

Blogger Doktor Jeep December 26, 2019 2:37 PM

The gamma book would be the longest if the subject matter included how to save civilization from them.

The omega book would be the shortest: "Take a shower and go outside you nerds".

Yes, but better still, a book that combines the issue of corporate convergence and SSH in the workplace hierarchy. I don't know whether Vox should be the author, or perhaps a more "mainstream" writer, but I bet such a book would do quite well, as it is a timely subject indeed. If Vox did do it, I expect it would sell as well as the SJW series.

@146: Ah, but you SHOULD give a damn. Scarlett O'Hara is a study in feminine evil. Pretty and charming on the outside...when she wants something from you. Peel back the onion, and she's petty, manipulative in the extreme, and utterly uncaring about others. And foolish. The people who know and care for her (Heaven knows why) are all telling her that Wilkes is NOT a good match.

And this sociopath is being held up as a heroine? No wonder we have a generation of young women who are screwed up!

To be ignored: a book on literature. You have both breadth and depth of knowledge and have excellent insight into why certain books do or do not work. It would be especially good if you weaved in SSH analysis of the characters and writers.

Of the options you are actually likely to choose: A Sea of Skulls extended edition

I think the observation above is right. Put out a "Gamma" book before an "Alpha" book. First, because the term "Beta-boy" in popular usage (based on an oversimplification of canine hierarchy as presented to the public by the misreporting-a-usual news media) needs to be corrected.

And second, everybody knows how to spot the Alphas, and the last thing we need is a book giving Gammas tips on how to (temporarily) pretend to be the Alphas they cannot and will not ever be.
The first introduction of the SSH to the general public should be on how to spot the Gamma.

Blogger artensoll December 26, 2019 5:05 PM

Ah, but you SHOULD give a damn. Scarlett O'Hara is a study in feminine evil.

Rhett Butler is no better, he and Scarlett deserve each other.

i have "scandalized" people by laughing at the scene where Bonnie bashes her brains out trying to jump her horse over the hedge.

because that scene involves three infantile personalities, all selfishly vying for attention from the other parties, and Rhett and Scarlett being too wrapped in their own little dynamic to actually do something constructive about the acting out which their daughter is threatening.

and you must remember, this happens AFTER Scarlett's father has already died from being thrown from a horse. they well know the possible lethality involved here.

thus, Bonnie dying is nearly an inevitable narrative requirement of the situation.

i laugh, because Margaret Mitchell somehow expects me to FEELZ concern or sorrow because idiots have seen the obvious consequence of their retardation. and that applies to all three characters within the scene.

One thing I would hope to see is an end to the misuse of the term "beta". I think Owen was onto something with the concept of "bravo".
I have seen, and on many occasions used the term "beta simp". But simpery seems more gamma - though likely in secret because they would probably not admit to being desperate - or omega which is desperation incarnate. Until the omega has experience and gives up then realizes having extra money is nice.
But to reiterate, it seems bravo or beta is not simp.
