Three days left

There are only three days left to help Zammy, the giant sheepadoodle, to cross the finish line. He's at 80 percent right now.

UPDATE: Zammy is go! Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Despite not having children I'll be supporting this one for the same reason I am supporting the junior classics: this is the kind of culture our up and coming generations need, not drag queen story time and other flavors of globalhomo.

Not my sort of thing but I did put some money towards it a few weeks ago. I saw the Zammy clips Vox played in the stream and dont know where in the world Zammy lives. He is doing good work, and I hope the children he visits forget their predicament for a while.
Spread the joy and love.

Back the good guys.

Put in $50 for hardcover. $35 to go as of 1645 PT. In good shape to get over the hump.

Blogger Rowan December 16, 2019 8:06 PM

$35 put Zammy at 100%. Glad to help!

You all are CRUSHING and we are so grateful. Indeed, we are over the hump from 85% of goal when Vox posted this final push.

Ours is an attempt to claim back some territory riddled with nonsense content for children. We will deliver wholesome books for young readers that drive home key values to be right-side up in an upside-down world.

So thank you all who have supported.

Seriously...thank you.

"territory riddled with nonsense content for children."
You're not wrong about that. Nearly every children's book I've seen lately has been about farting or poop. It's pathetic.

Zammy cuts through the bullshit like no other.

Blogger wreckage December 17, 2019 12:02 AM

Woohoo! Zammy is over the line!

Blogger Doug Cranmer December 17, 2019 1:06 AM

So you've got a White, a black and an Asian on the dog. You couldn't be more calculatingly diverse. I'll pass.

Needs more disabled transwomen of colour.

Representation matters to children.
You can read that sentence three ways; they're all correct.

Blogger Bibliotheca Servare December 17, 2019 11:08 PM

@Doug Cranmer

Yeah, and the white kid has some sort of cast on her leg, the black kid is clearly missing part of his leg, and the crutches are either his, the white girl's, or the Asian girl's.

They aren't there for "diversity points" they're there because this book is for/partly about the kids Zammy helps, in his wonderful way. They aren't representatives of their respective races, they're members of the class known as "sick kids". They don't want to be sick, whether it's due to illness, injury, or something else, but they're hurting just the same. And Zammy doesn't give a damn what color their skin is, or what shape their eyes are. They're in pain, and that's all that matters here.

I hope you can see that. Thank you for giving me the kick in the pants I needed to decide that this book, much like the Junior Classics, is worth finding room in my budget for.

My kids will read the Junior Classics someday, but I'm pretty sure I'll be reading this one to them.
