Mailvox: confidence and courage

The Dread Ilk are not intimidated by the challenges to come in 2020. A reader writes about the implications of Christian nationalists becoming the strong horse again.
American Thinker had a piece a couple days ago that it is Donald J. Trump's election to lose in November at this point.

The hysteria of the past three years is almost indescribable. The meltdown by liberals, leftists, progressives, and cultural Marxists has been been both irritating and entertaining. Their inability to deal with reality has been sobering to watch. I have had a few friendships that ended since 2016 due to my inability to think progressive in our now bifurcated society.

A thought did come to me. In the likely event that DJT is reelected, will this shock some left of center to reality? People by nature back the strong horse. This is how Islam and later socialism and communism have spread. As you have pointed out, Conservatism Inc. has failed to conserve anything. People decide see weakness and therefore lack of faith in the beliefs of the so-called conservatives. An average person wants to be on the winning team.

You have the end of eight years of the Obama centrally-directed economy with growth close to zero. At some point, jobs and hopefully general prosperity will sink into most except the most muddle headed millennial skull. As the dissonance between indoctrination vs. reality becomes more apparent, will we see a cultural shift?

Holding steadfast to beliefs, acting on them, punctuated with intermittent acts of boldness rolling back Obama's legacy and cultural Marxism in general over eight years should cause a fair portion to jump ship and move back into the ranks of Western Civilization. All it takes is courage.
Courage, confidence, and a crusading faith in Jesus Christ is how we will move forward into 2020 and beyond. Deus vult!

While I am convinced many of them take batteries, Millennials -- like all people -- should snap to once denied their decadence.

I'm dubious about any polling regarding millennials.
There's two distinct groups of millennials, and they don't think alike.
Who even answered these polls? Response rate numbers would be interesting.

@10 I haven't yet looked into the polling itself, but the results reported at the link comport with my daily experiences with Millennials.

Much like Xers, there certainly are two distinct sets of Millennials; unlike Xers, however, the Socialism is Just Alright With Me set is by far the larger of the two. Which, of course, makes sense.

Blogger MagnusStout January 01, 2020 4:55 PM

TGE is almost 73. He is almost certain to be reelected and it feels good to win. I hope Q is right and change comes. But, this is also a spiritual battle: https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/age-distribution/18-29/generational-cohort/younger-millennial/

By that barometer, a steep challenge remains. Worse, the rate of family formation is abysmal. The lesson is not to get too caught up in a Q or Trump Millennialism. Each of us needs to do our part to strengthen and rebuild our communities.

Possibly could be a difference of circles and perception. I don't know as many of my generation that are socialists, but I wouldn't really associate with them either.
I'd also like to see a breakdown of Millennial voters by race and gender, I think that might be the data would be interesting.

Not so OT

This past Sunday my friend Jim filled in at a local church in the pastor's absence. He said, "I don't want you to endure this service. I want you to get something good out of it, and take it home in a doggie bag."

Jim's a straight-forward guy. He told them, "Say this ten times, "Jesus!" In the congregation was a 50 year old woman who had been severely beaten in December. Jim reported at the fourth iteration of calling the name of Jesus, this woman broke, wept, cried, and then laughed. Her father, a 70 year old firearms instructor who was also present, went to work this week, then uncharacteristically to him, told another instructor working beneath him said, "I want you to do something, don't ask why, just say the name Jesus ten times." After a few iterations of this, the other instructor lunged over giving him a bear hug, "You don't know how much I needed that!" Simple, no deep theology - just an earnest cry out answered by Jesus. His name is ours to call.

Blogger Clint January 01, 2020 5:53 PM

I don't know as many of my generation that are socialists, but I wouldn't really associate with them either.

Well, there you have it. Furthermore, 'card carrying' socialists are different from Millennial socialist sympathizers that are so because they've been taught that socialism is the only viable alternative to predatory capitalism and globalist, free marketeers.

Blogger map January 01, 2020 5:57 PM

This is sometimes hard to wrap one's mind around but it is nonetheless true: when the time comes, people will choose good socialism over bad capitalism because good socialism often beats bad capitalism.

Remember, a system must allow enough wealth accumulation by households to compensate for the point when, eventually, the household will not be able to work. This is an imperative. A system that fails this basic prerogative will be replaced by one that makes it a priority.

What's an example of bad capitalism? Germany's Wiemar Republic. What's an example of good socialism? Hitler's Germany from 1933-1939. The average working man did much better in the latter than he did in the former.

People make these choices all of the time. In Venezuela, the people replaced bad capitalism with, unfortunately, bad socialism, but the conditions there were bad enough that the promise of good socialism sounded good.

Met a young man last spring intensely involved with generation identity Austria during a pilgrimage in France. A true nationalist. We both agreed Ethnos and Logos is really the only pressing issue.

Now my communists might be your socialists in which case we would be in agreement.

@bernard, don't be silly, freemasons want nothing to do with Jesuits. In fact, freemasonry requires a belief in God as a prerequisite to joining. The Jesuits do not (see e.g. Hugh Drynan). You're going to give freemasonry a bad name by associating it with jesuits!

> The meltdown by liberals, leftists, progressives, and cultural Marxists has been been both irritating and entertaining.

I just had an idea: Their meltdown is somewhat similar to the meltdown of the muslim population in palestine after they lost their turf to the Jews in 1948. To lose ground to their enemies after long periods of dominance is very painful because it invalidates their end-time scenarios and therefore their identity. And that gets them spiraling.

The majority of people capable of being convinced have been convinced by the past three years. The Democratic party and their MSM operatives will never come around. It's not a matter of convincing them, it's a matter of defeating them.

> when the time comes, people will choose good socialism o

There is no such thing as good socialism. Once the principle that the state runs things has been adopted, it's only a matter of time till things go to hell in a handbasket, because the state is never competent enough to run things.

As just one example, one of the arguments for the postal service made generations ago was that a postal service was so simple to run that even the state could do it competently. How has that worked out?

Don't count on it. Especially if Durham hands down indictments of key actors in all the hoaxes.

The depth of revulsion that lefties have to the GE will not be purged by his re-election.

Their world view does not permit it. There is a slight, very slight, possibility that they will go through the final stages of grief.

But it's low probability.

Well, the state loses the rational calculating engine that exists under capitalism, if they go to far in undermining a wealth-engine (which they usually do.) Also, the state is in a position to pursue projects without any consideration of cost which can be wasteful.

In fact, all of Hayek's arguments apply in this case. The current capitalist system, with its predatory destructiveness, its free trade nonsense, and its labor and capital mobility cannot continue. Better to change this system into the more effective "good capitalism" before the siren song of socialism becomes bad socialism.

Us Europeans really dont have that same sensitivity when it comes to the socialist issue.

Europe is being invaded and the nations systematically dismantled under the auspices that the invasion is necessary to support the welfare state. In this, The Elusive They, the "Prometheans," as Vox calls them, are not entirely incorrect.

There is an expansionism inherent and organic to socialist systems. The New Thing, here, is that Europe is importing those she would otherwise have to conquer and exploit.

Re-think all the things.

Beau - while not exactly OT - I urge caution when appealing to 'spiritual exercises'.
Paul wrote about this in 1 Cor 14 and I researched this - https://www.gotquestions.org/gift-of-tongues.html - the point is that everything is done decently and in order!

"How is Christianity not in a similar situation now? What am I missing?"

The old gods are Princes of Principalities. Christianity worships the King of Kings. The situation of Jesus is not the situation of lesser beings.

Blogger Beau January 02, 2020 11:30 AM

- the point is that everything is done decently and in order!

I'll provide an illustration of not done decently and in order versus the power of the name of Jesus. We were working on the roof of a derelict home, during that time we'd periodically stop and shout "Jesus!" We did this many times over the course of days. I'll stipulate such behavior is far and away from both societal norms and church going behavior. Done in decent good order, I think not, embarrassing, what a disgrace. However, as I've mentioned here before, the result was glorious. A neighbor, a high volume large network drug distributor heard us, was curious, came over and not only got saved, but invited his associates over to hear. They got saved too. Then we held an outdoor evangelistic meeting for hours in the court we were working in, and ministered the gospel to many others, exhorting them to get right with Jesus and walk the straight and narrow. What can I say but "Jesus!"

Blogger Crush Limbraw January 02, 2020 11:53 AM

Beau - I was simply quoting verse 40 of 1 Cor 14 - "But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way." - and in all matters of Biblical understanding, I defer to Paul and the rest of the Apostles.

To put it another way, angels, being corruptible, forgot they were not the origin. They began to see the tasks they were given as a divine right of their own making. Thusly, they abandoned their estates of heaven they were charged with for the earthly estates they were to oversee.

A number of them began to consider themselves gods of portions of mankind not created for their purposes. Such became the rebellion, which goes on until the last vestiges of it are put down. The current state of Christianity is simply the continuance under those circumstances until what has been revealed comes to pass.

Some people fall away, some stay loyal, some are redeemed, until the ending of the rebellion and the restoration of the estates in their more complete form. The angels shall be judged by those they attempted dominion over, by those loyal to God and what He has put forth since before the beginning. “Kosmos,” and also “Aggelos.” [From text focusing on the question of the inanity of Christians going before unbelievers for settling disputes of earthly matters, when the least among actual Christians are better suited than even the best of any of the unbelievers, for such things.]

We are on the side of the winner, and it is just a matter of when, despite transitory conditions. Jesus Christ, the unbeatable.

As I told Beau, all I did was quote Paul in his summary of dealing with tongues and spiritual gifts.
In my almost 50 years of religious experience - and seeing a thing or two - caution has become part of my overall approach and understanding of Christianity - and I thus defer to the Apostles for my explanation of it.
If your admonishment is meant for me to not express a 'discouraging word' when I see a red flag - I get it - your house, your rules!

The white young men have been taught well by Milo and Vox, and everyone who has a youtube channel or ifunny, or who knows what else tech. They warrant their logic steps, they tell the young men about serious books, they bring information, statistics, ways of seeing that information, and then they help them build arguments. The sleek, serious Christianity is all a part of it.

The young men are horrified by the weenie, caviling boomers in the pulpits. They are initially shocked by serious Christians- FCA, for instance- but then they listen and become converted. They are more comfortable identifying with Deus Vult Christianity than anyone was ever comfortable in conservative, no principles Christianity.

They are surrounded by immigrants. Those immigrants cite melting pot, and you owe us, we are real americans because we believe legal paper. The young men are brainstorming how to counter that. They need all the help they can get- they are the future.

And, they are serious. They ask for Aquinas, Bibles, books by founding fathers. Not just Ivy young men, teens. Teen boys in unprepossessing schools.

Arm them. Be the men that form them. I beg you.
