SocialGalactic 2.0 update

The second iteration of SocialGalactic is in active Beta. All Annual, Premium, and Basic UATV subscribers have been invited. If you are a current subscriber and have not received an invite, please email me with SG2 INVITE in the subject from the email you used to subscribe to Unauthorized and the level of your current subscription.

Burn Unit members will be invited soon, after which we will invite the creator-specific subscribers. Following that, we will invite Castalia Deluxe subscribers. Those involved in other projects that do not involve those subscriptions, such as Rebel's Run investors, Replatforming patrons, and the AHQ Rubble Bouncers, will receive special badges they can use if they wish.

Only after all of the various contributors have been invited will we prepare to offer actual SG2 subscriptions and open up the site to free users.

And if you're already on SocialGalactic, feel free to comment upon how it's working for you and what improvements you would like to see.

Social Galactic is excellent. It's basic but gets the job done for now. The liberty created by ground up construction is worth the lack of crown moldings.

I am a feed the bear subscriber, looking forward to the invite

Social Galactic is working well, learning from the ground up. Writing down what works and what problems I have. I'm happy to abide by the rules in the Pelennor Fields, knowing that the walls and users are protected. Big thanks to Vox and the teams.

Last thing I was looking for was how to show the users currently online. Will keep working this, or will ask a moderator. Never bothered with other social media, so learning in a hurry.

Vox, this is off topic, but just over two weeks ago my bank blocked a Catalia Deluxe payment and I haven't been able to pay it since because Castalia's system won't allow it. I've tried emailing you and Castalia's help address, but I haven't received a reply. Can you tell me what to do, please? I could resubscribe, but then I'd have to pay the joining fee that was added for new subscribers and while I'd love to bless you with the additional financial support, it would be a bit too painful for us right now!

Liking it more than v 1.0. On mobile. What sticks out as good is how easy it is to do a photo post.

The margins and text are large on my android phone. Not sure if this is a setting that can be changed.

SG is working well! Thank you for providing it.

I've tried emailing you and Castalia's help address, but I haven't received a reply.

Been a little busy on the LL front. We'll get to it soon.

If I can use it, anybody can.

A lot less glitchy than SG1. Looking good!

Hmmmm.... my invites are going to be late, or later.

I guess patience is a virtue, it just doesn't seem like it is.

Thank-you Vox, for making me more virtuous!

Beauty. Godspeed on that front, man. I'll wait quietly now I know that I've reached you.

Got onto Social Galactic tonight.(Bronze status) Feeling privileged to get in. Trying to learn by watching and exploring. Not sure how to post yet, but even if I never do, it's tremendous to follow some of the links to great additional material online. Was expecting to be faced with a joining fee, but pleasantly surprised not to find this. What a sane and wholesome environment compared to my time at GAB. Thanks so much Vox.

This is another situation to make good use of the 48 hour rule. I am looking forward to this. SG 1.0 was pretty damn awesome.

Blogger Lightning in My Hands January 07, 2020 6:07 PM

It is working well.

Release notes for fixes and additions would be welcome.

Thanks for the update. I'd noted the comments, and was hoping for more information.

Ah. On the outside looking in for now then. Maybe later this year, though even that seems unlikely. Money is a bit tighter than I expected right now.

Last time I happened to notice an oddity to a post on the blog and managed to be among the first 10 or 20 signed up. I'm not a donor, so I'll be waiting for the public availability this time. Still excited, though.

I'd like to see an option to get the posts in a strict time list from newest to oldest (no algorithm sorting).

Agreed. I already put in a request for that very feature.

I somehow missed the "creator specific subscribers later" bit, and thought that a creator specific subscription was a "basic" subscription. So I sent you an email unnecessarily. I'll report to Malwyn for correction.

It would be useful to have a link to share or open in new tab a post. Like that the default theme is dark.

I'm enjoying the 'reputation' score that you get, as well as the crowd - drama free and links to sites I enjoy.

Blogger Raker_T January 08, 2020 7:52 PM

For some reason, my work has receded; people contacted me with some really neat jobs, but didn't follow through. Bills were piling up. A guy I know got me some work doing construction. The last time I had to do that was in the crash of 2008. It's good to have the bilge pumps working again on my financial boat; but man the toll of getting back into it. I'm keeping abreast of, and even besting guys in their 20's and 30's, but ouch. We're working with steel and concrete, which we have to carry around and install.
There are some really big ticket negative things going on which are not at arms length anymore. Most of the internet looks contrived, social media looks far more manipulated than I realized before. So I drove home after a hard day, and even though some things are bad, some are good, and my morale was about neutral. Then I looked in my inbox, and saw the invite. I went there and registered.
IT WAS SO NEAT!! It functions well, I suppose, but the people and topics! Here's real social media, not a bunch of ra-ra jingoism accounts, or their counterparts. No account manipulation to limit who you see, or who sees you. And the topics. There was a lovely lady giving pointers on homeschooling, and another guy talked about all the beauty we see as the face of God. I'm putting together evidences to prove the objectivity of beauty in creation, so that guy's post was a joy to see. All in all, I was heap-um happy camper, and the timing was great. Thank you.

Social media has been an ugly irritation since my workplace required creating a MySpace page. Facebook and Twitter added evil to the mix.

One supports Gab on general principle (Build up, build over, build around!) and there are good eggs on it: Viva Bolsonaro! Dangerous Ladies FTW. But... Ugh.

Social Galactic is actually appealing.

Good show, all. You rock.

Blogger AngryBear65 January 09, 2020 9:29 PM

I really appreciate this site. It is a welcome reprieve from the chaos of all the others.

Input would be, on a mobile device, when looking at a post picture/meme etc, the download logo is in the bottom right corner of the picture, blocking parts of the pic. No a big deal. If I turn my phone to landscape, i can usually see more of the pic.

Thanks again.
