It's not about the numbers

It's about the quality of the engagement and the strength of the commitment.

One blogger who is on SocialGalactic recently commented that his 85 followers on SocialGalactic have made a much bigger impact on his blog traffic than his 500 followers on Gab. We've seen similar results vis-a-vis social media platforms ranging from Instagram and Twitter to Facebook and Amazon.

But then, Man has known this since the days of Gideon and Leonidas. Better 200 who will stand and fight than 20,000 who will run.

Sounds good. As a Unauthorized supporter, I quite look forward to trying out SocialGalactic. Hope to see when it'll be made available to me so I can try it out. :)

I'd much rather have a small but well-organized group than the million-strong hive mind that is social media. (Maybe it's because it reminds me of Ye Olde Days of the Internet with its BBSs and other tight-knit communities that weren't policed like the Gestapo.) It's like a digital version of high school sometimes with the petty bullsh*t that's on platforms like Twitter.

Blogger Jon D. February 03, 2020 12:28 PM

Before Gab reset and deleted everything i had 5,000+ followers but almost zero engagement. I don't know what goes on over there with all their numbers but it's very rare to interact with actual people.

Social Galactic by contrast is not just interacting with people, with its limited environment it's been good people who are much more pleasant to engage with compared to any of the other platforms.

There is so much more meaningful discussion on SG

In sales, this is called "qualifying the prospect."

1. If the prospect has insufficient financial resources for what you're wanting to sell, it doesn't matter how much he may desire it.

2. Similarly, if he has absolutely no reason to ever have an interest in your offering, it doesn't matter how much financial resources he or his company has.

A good sales department judiciously assigns man-hours and on-site customer calls as guided by both rules 1 and 2.

Social Galactic probably does well at winnowing according to group 2 (as funds are not the issue). Just by being on Social Galactic as opposed to the "eternal September" that is Twitter, both sides of the intellectual exchange are more likely to spend time on communicating with each other about things that actually matter.

Gab allowed itself to be diluted by letting the alt-retards go all-retard, all the the time.

Blogger Talios Hammerfist February 03, 2020 2:17 PM

This has been my experience as well. The community adds value to me and others as opposed to inciting anger addiction.

@Warunicorn. Signal always beats noise. Gideon had 300. Christ had 12.

Never got into Twitter or Gab, pretty much left FB alone. Just getting used to the atmosphere over there. I have noticed a nice lack of trolls or ankle-biters so far.

Hardly a student in Roman history, not so long ago I watched a video that presented what happened after Caesar crossed the Rubicon. Something that became wildly obvious was that outside of Rome, there was no body of troops that wanted to defend the current government. The would run off in advance, or surrender, or sometimes change sides.

Reminiscent of what happened in South Vietnam after we pulled out. Once a few units went into retreat, it gave the rest of them permission to retreat and the whole thing fell apart.

When SocialGalactic opens to the public, I will talk it up to everyone I know.

Currently there are many people from Europe and Asia who are sick of Twitter's abuse of ToS policing.

Do you plan to include pictures to compete against Instagram as well?

Blogger Sterling Pilgrim February 03, 2020 3:46 PM

Churchians just love numbers. If the coffee shop outside the sanctuary is full, surely Christ is at the core of that church. /s

The idea of quality over quantity is a vital concept. It’s going to become crucial once the fracturing of America begins in earnest.

For paid subscribers, yes.

Blogger Lightning in My Hands February 03, 2020 3:59 PM

The meaningful content per post is vastly higher than the commercially inundated apps of the current year.

Keep up the quality, and thanks.

Hopefully other institutions learn this lesson, like Churches. I'd rather have fewer good people, than hordes of bad.

FYI - Rush Limbaugh announced he has advanced lung cancer today. You can criticize him for some civ-nattery,etc, but he was the gateway for a lot of people back to a less squishy Right and held the line under Clinton when there were few voices the normies had any access to.
I wonder sure who his proper successor will be? Hannity is an embarrassing lightweight. I suppose Don Jr is too busy.
Need someone who can move the Overton Window some more without being too much too soon.

Blogger bodenlose Schweinerei February 03, 2020 5:33 PM

OT, for this thread anyway: apparently winning a Super Bowl has rendered Mahomes "black enough". The Undefeated (hah!) are drooling all over him today.

Blogger Unknownsailor February 03, 2020 5:35 PM

"Hannity is an embarrassing lightweight."

I doubt he would notice as he monologues for half an our straight, mentioning that Hillary paid for the dossier for the ten thousandth time....

I can't stand to listen to him any more, he just drones on and on, covering old talking points over and over again, every freaking day. It mystifies me how he can keep an audience.

Rush will take many minutes to make a point, too, but at least he changes the routine depending on the topic at hand.

Blogger Mother Country February 03, 2020 6:11 PM

I thought Unauthorized supporters got an invite, so I sent you an email. If not, what do we need to do?

Blogger Rantor February 03, 2020 6:47 PM

I am enjoying social galactic. It is positive and interesting. Thanks

Unknown sailor, I must agree, I can't stand to watch Hannity, he talks to much when he has a good guest on.

@Vox we have Neon Revolt on Gab claiming credit for your reading CDAN. Unusual for NR; didn't do his research on this subject.

Neon Revolt @NeonRevolt

Guess I got @voxday to pay attention to #CDAN.

That's a good thing.

Blogger Uncle John's Band February 03, 2020 8:42 PM

"we have Neon Revolt on Gab claiming credit for your reading CDAN"

But what did Becky tell Suzie? That's the real question.

Blogger tublecane February 03, 2020 9:14 PM

To be fair, I'm not sure you could fit 20,000 in front of the Hot Gates. You could keep extras in reserve, but they wouldn't exactly be "standing" in that case.

Blogger Dave February 03, 2020 9:19 PM

Uncle John's Band wrote:"we have Neon Revolt on Gab claiming credit for your reading CDAN"

If you must know, Becky told Suzie she's been cheating with Suzie's boyfriend. VP search function would've taken Neon all of 10 seconds to see Vox has posted re CDAN for years.

Microsoft is playing some strange games with its email and other free email providers might be doing the same thing. My SocialGalactic invite and some Patreon emails finally showed up in my Junk folder, more than a week after they'd been sent, buried several among emails I'd already reviewed. I've seen lots of emails from particular senders keep going to Junk even after repeatedly marking the senders as legitimate but this behavior was something I'd never seen before.

Blogger Akulkis February 03, 2020 11:08 PM

The Usenet Oracle has pondered your question deeply.
Your question was:

> @Vox we have Neon Revolt on Gab claiming credit for
> your reading CDAN. Unusual for NR; didn't do his research on
> this subject.

And in response, thus spake the Usenet Oracle:

Before I get to your question, first I must address the fact that you failed to grovel and supplicate sufficiently.

In fact, you didn't even try. Do you even KNOW how to grovel?

Here are some good grovels and supplications for you to ponder before asking question in the future:

> Oh, all powerful Oracle, whose toe nail clippings I am
> not worthy enough to grind onto my chicken pot pie:

> Most financially astute Oracle, whose monopoly on great
> wisdom, after the recent out-of-court settlement that was
> in all the news, will certainly never be the target of an
> investigation by the Justice Department of the United States,
> nor of the Economic Ministry of the European Union, I ask of
> you the following:

> O great Oracle, the one who sees all and knows all, please
> accept this humble question from thy grovelling supplicant...

> Oh great Oracle, who is never fooled by mere
> mortals' trickery, how can I ask you the dreaded
> w**dch**k question without getting zotted?

On to your question:

Now, I'm not a moderator on this blog, nor do I pretend to be one on TV, but nevertheless, listen up.

It's best not to start playing, "Do you know what X said?" games like some rumor-mongering high school "mean girl" plotting to get her rivals in a social fight with each other, so she suck up all the alienated from both sides of the artificial conflict while playing Little Miss Pure and Innocent

First of all that sort of play relies on both sides not knowing what the first girl is doing. You're totally on the record here.

Second, it doesn't matter that NR is wrong about this. I'm not psychic, but I would bet my car that Vox could literally not care any less than he already does about any such comment, as it's an inconsequential mistake due to lack of complete, omniscient knowledge, not an attack.

On the other hand, Vox generally DOES care about people coming in here trying to stir up shit between him and his allies over things that, in the long view, don't matter one iota.

Really, who in the fuck cares if NR claims such credit. Who is it hurting if he makes a mistake of that sort?

You?
Vox?
Anyone reading this blog?
ANYBODY on the entire planet?

I would bet that more people are worried about a nondescript penny they dropped a week ago than they are about this.

You are playing with matches while sitting on a pile of guncotton and juggling mason jars full of nitroglycerine.

In light of all this, I dub thee Daveigh Davetta "Vaporo" Davina.

You owe the oracle two snickers bars, and your entire collection of Lindsay Lohan products (don't deny it, or there will be an auction on the skulls of your doll^H^H^H^H "action figure" collection).

Blogger Zaklog the Great February 03, 2020 11:19 PM

Completely off topic, but too funny not to share. I was playing with an AI-generated text adventure story. I decided to try time travel. It didn't go well, but you might say it was not a terrible surprise.

If this is unwanted, mods, I apologize.

Blogger Stilicho February 03, 2020 11:43 PM

@newscaper Tucker is the only big name who could replace Rush.

In Iowa tonight, the DNC is feeling the Bern and is delaying the results while they figure out a way to find boxes full of "votes" for Creepy Joe... in a caucus primary...

How do you "find" new caucus results after you have already entered the total into your tabulation app? Just asking for a friend.

Blogger Raker_T February 03, 2020 11:52 PM

Extra blog traffic would be a bonus, as just being able to talk to real people is great. Gab had strange things happening, account manipulation along the lines of who was allowed to see who. Hacked? I don't know, but I wasn't the only one to see it.
Maybe SG already has a visible 'joined' date, if not it would be nice so that after it's open to the public, one can consider it when weeding out the infiltrators. I thought of an analogy for other SM: It's not ping pong, where you're having a conversation with who knows; but it's volley ball where the conversation gets bounced form shill to infiltrator and around.
But enough negative, SG is neat.

You were already sent one invite. Soon you will be sent another. But the majority of people who were sent emails have not joined SG, so how are we supposed to distinguish who didn't receive one from who doesn't care about social media?

No problem getting subscription renewal emails.

The fact that you get email from one source says nothing about whether another source will get through to you. I suspect the problem is that it is an invitation, and some systems mark invitations as spam.

Also: check your Social folder. If you say "what is that" then you probably know what the problem is.

Blogger Section 8A February 04, 2020 6:04 AM

I can confirm this. The SG2 community politely checks things out, provides some insight, and is a nice place to be. My small blog has had an uptick in traffic, which makes me write more as well. These are all positive things, and the result of good decision making, effort, and planning on VD and his team's part. It's all been quite enjoyable.

Blogger VD February 04, 2020 6:09 AM

No, this has nothing to do with that.
