Mailvox: leaving a converged company

A reader writes about leaving his job. He's doing the right thing, because he has correctly assessed the situation and that place is going to go out of business with or without the assistance of Corona-chan.

Today I handed in my resignation at my current work, after the situation the last few months has turned from bad to intolerable.

I am currently reading Corporate Cancer, and it has become quite obvious that I myself am working in a converged company. In this case it is the HR department that is leading the convergence. Interestingly, they are not going against the wish of the customers, but rather their own employees, more specifically the most valuable ones. I guess they are too difficult to work with because they have an opinion of their own?

This is a very new company without any revenue yet, but here are some examples of the HR-led convergence craziness:

  • They are now doing all the hiring, even though none in HR knows anything about the industry
  • One colleague went from pre-HR employee of the year to "Drama King" within a few months, and was subsequently forced to quit. All because a young women at work that was in love with him repeatedly made complaints about him to HR because he did not reciprocate her feelings.
  • The same young woman, with no prior work experience - except for one year where she did less than what was required, spending most of her time complaining that her job was boring - was promoted to [a junior executive position].
  • They required that we should have transgender bathrooms, which resulted in unisex bathrooms instead, to the dismay of all the women.

In the last four months four key employees have resigned, but they do not seem to understand the problem, or even be willing to see that there is one.

In general, however, I recommend always finding a new job before leaving the old one. But regardless of the ideal sequence, the point is to understand that a company's convergence is a flashing red sign to start looking for work elsewhere.

Barely started and they're having bathroom drama? Yeah, the company is doomed.

Sorry about your job brother, but I hope you find a better one soon with telework.

If they don't have revenue yet, the prognosis is "Wuhan."

Would asking about the SMV hierarchy be out of place? My guess is that an alpha would clean up at that clown show. About 15 years ago my place of employment brought in an Alpha cult leader and it was a sight to see him in action. He had all the attractive women goose stepping about the halls of power, waiting their turn on the table of joy and he had all the fatties, oldies and other assorted <5s knodding their heads and holding up their index fingers in approval of his spiel during the org's mass meetings.

The poor Deltas and Betas, in my case what Sigma I have in me I would now recognize was enjoying the spectacle. He lasted till the money ran out, moved up and out to a new racket and left his cult to wither on the vine, all gone in 6 months.

An unfortunate example of a woman joining the workforce to meet men.

"This is a very new company without any revenue yet"

Didn't have to write a single thing after that. A start up that already has an HR department and office political drama with zero income coming in? Holy fuck, shit show is right. Corona Chan my dark mistress, your feast awaits.

Vox talks alot about building your own (platform). This is why its not such a crazy idea. Sure they have tsunamis of cash backing them, but its used unwisely. And not relying on customer revenues, they have no sanity check. The trillions looted by those Silicon Valley oligarchs through their "dot com" stock kiting scheme is woefully insufficient to overpower reality.

Stories like this make me happy I ended up in construction. I can curse, spit, defecate in a bucket, use racial slurs depending on who's not around, and though there is a slight increase in female workers, we're still free to do and say what we like, 99% of the time.

On a related note, it looks like my online reading group will next be tackling Vox Day's Corporate Cancer. I haven't gotten a look at the book yet myself, but previously we've covered between 1 or 2 chapters of a week of a book depending on length. We're currently working on The Man Who Was Thursday by G.K. Chesterton. If you're interested, check out Dissident Reads.

HR is where I've seen the convergence spread from, more often than not. It's pretty much useless, a perfect job for SJW's to 'thrive'.

Been there with young women getting you in trouble with HR for not reciprocating. Worst is when one of them gets promoted to be your boss. Left without a job lined up immediately and started a company that is essentially flatlined now. 1099 self-employment is the current goal.

Was he really an Alpha, or just a charismatic huckster who sensed easy prey? Either way, bailing when the money ran out for a "new racket" is hardly "cleaning up the clown show".

HR stands for Hiring Rachets.

The "hell hath no fury" problem... yet another reason women shouldn't be in the workplace.

And as quite a few MGTOWs have found out, flat-out ignoring them doesn't work either.

The European attitude is to flirt with them to massage their egos but not to make moves on them.

Of course, the most effective deterrent is to have a wife or girlfriend who's much more attractive than the woman causing the problem to "just drop in to tell him something important".

If neither is done, women tend to figure the man is a sexless gamma/omega virgin and therefore fair game for having his life destroyed.

Current company does not have an HR person at the moment, the man in charge does not think highly of the position. The impression is anyone filling this job gets pushed out once management is dissatisfied.

Blogger Oswald March 22, 2020 12:30 PM

This is a real gut check my friends, but let us think about this rationally.

First, we simply must substitute x for the c-19 virus. We must remember that we have been anticipating an x to come along, maybe we didn't see this particular x, but many of us have been expecting some type of x to allow the President to do what we think must be done and that is the arresting of the traitors and the destruction of the deep state.

The President seems to be reacting and not acting, but all his moves seem perfectly in line for the above stated goal. He does things because the people and even his enemies demand it, not because he wants too. How sweet is that. The traitors are practically hanging themselves.

Other countries must be planning the same kind of house cleaning. I don't doubt that people are dying, and that this virus is very serious, but I also think Trump is planning to take full advantage of this.

He said, "clean up at that clown show" i.e. make out like a bandit, which is exactly the guy in his anecdote did.

As for the story, I have personal experience regarding women pulling this exact kind of bullshit, even with remote contract work. Trying to ignore it and simply do your job doesn't work, even in that situation.

He said "clean up AT the clown show." In other words, get laid a lot. It's true, if you're the top cock in a hen house, you can turn it into a harem. Whether you'd want to is another question.

This guy made the right move.

Just left a job of 12 years myself. Yesterday was actually my last day. The CFO at the last job was a clueless boomer who hired a woman from outside to lead our department of literally all men, passing up a 15 year veteran employee for the position who was a perfect fit. All because the woman had some piece of inconsequential experience that he thought was important and she interviewed well... And because I'm told they're equal to us and can do just as good of a job Summer of '69 blah blah blah

Needless to say, it destroyed the morale of the entire department. If that guy wasn't going to get promoted, nobody was. So now nobody even wants to listen to this woman talk. Four people including myself have already left with about five more on their way out the door, and this is in a department of maybe only 15 people, AND at a time when this Corona stuff is shutting down most of our customers... All the top talent was the first to go. The guy that got passed up for the promotion was first and took me with him. We got offered positions in an industry that is going to be doing just fine at the moment... Industrial food processing! Making probably 1.5x what we were making at the other place.

Even with all the Corona crap happening and a good chunk of my investments taking a dive, it's funny... I feel better than I have in a long time. Sleeping better, mind is clear, stress related health issues from the job are improving, and I'm actually not feeling bitter or vengeful at all. As I look back, it's actually kind of funny how incompetent yet utterly confident these people were every step of the way. They have C-level titles and I literally couldn't have made worse decisions than them if I had tried...

Moral of the story: There's just no replacement for prayer and MAKING THE RUBBLE BOUNCE

That's the way it always works: the best people have options, and will exercise them when they want. The dead weight that you would really like to leave will be there until the place folds, and they will do their little bit to make it fold, quite unknowingly.

If top talent is leaving, GET OUT! That's never a good sign.

I've seen that so many times. When I was younger it crank my tail but now I realize it's just people. It has always been like that and it won't change. Reading my history shows that. The Stoics teach it.

Main thing is experience lets me pick out the real thing much faster and I can just pass the shit heads by much easier.

I once had to deal with a (gay) HR guy interviewing me for a job he clearly knew nothing about. He was genuinely puzzled about the gaps in my CV, asked me about it more than once. I had been contracting for a few years, no other explanation was really required. The gaps were fairly minor anyway. But nope, he couldn't fathom. I didn't get the job.

I have a kind of proud record. Whenever an HR person is present, I think I have a 100% record of failing the interview. I struggle with HR questions which, dare I say it, are somewhat feminized. Asked me about what I do, and what my experience is, dead easy. Ask me to talk nonsense in order to sell myself, much harder. I don't work in sales ...

This all leads me to the conclusion that HR shouldn't even be in the interview. There are exceptions, such as graduate interviews, where the graduate probably doesn't have much work experience, but generally, ban HR from meddling.

How long will it be before there are no non-converged companies left to work for? Not long, I'm afraid.

@11 Azimus:

Grasping for its quarterly bonus, to the exclusion of all else. Today's corporate executive "leadership" class is a sick joke. As Scott Adams has repeatedly pointed out via his Dilbert strips over the last 25 years, American businesses stay alive IN SPITE OF these clueless, incompetent, selfish dickheads rather than because of them. If I live to be a million years old I'll never understand how it happens.
