He is not here

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.  Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
- Matthew 28: 1-10

Towards the wicked, make us ruthless.

Make us relentless, in your Holy Name.

Make us more terrifying in our goodness, than they are in their evil.

Wise as serpents, form and keep us.

Your Will be done, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Messiah was crucified on Passover, and He rose again on the Feast of Firstfruits. John 4:24 states that only TRUTH is acceptable as worship of the Father. Your easter is a lie. You do not know the Father, but a counterfeit of Him, Vox, and you are too cowardly for the truth to expose your false beliefs and the false religion of christianity.

If Easter says anything to us today, it says this: You can put truth in a grave, but it won't stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise!

One of my favorite old hymns - seemed somewhat appropriate for today, for these "conditions" that we find ourselves in- begging the SDL's permission:

1 When this passing world is done,
when has sunk yon glaring sun,
when we stand with Christ on high
looking o'er life's history,
then, Lord, shall I fully know,
not till then, how much I owe.
2 When I hear the wicked call
on the rocks and hills to fall,
when I see them start and shrink
on the fiery deluge brink,
then, Lord, shall I fully know,
not till then, how much I owe.
3 When I stand before the throne,
dressed in beauty not my own,
when I see thee as thou art,
love thee with unsinning heart,
then, Lord, shall I fully know,
not till then, how much I owe.
4 When the praise of heav'n I hear,
loud as thunders to the ear,
loud as many waters' noise,
sweet as harp's melodious voice,
then, Lord, shall I fully know,
not till then, how much I owe.
5 Chosen not for good in me,
wakened up from wrath to flee,
hidden in the Savior's side,
by the Spirit sanctified,
teach me, Lord, on earth to show,
by my love, how much I owe.

The Scots knew how to write a hymn.

And a shout out to the (((tribe)))...

He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”

They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked Him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

“What things?” he asked.

“About Y'shua of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified Him; but we had hoped that He was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find His body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said He was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Y'shua.”

He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself.

Fun fact: Yesheyahu (Isaiah) 53 used to be the traditional haftarah reading for Pesach in the synagogues. *sigh* Alas, our people protest too much.

rikjames, that's an interesting take. I can see the alternative reading of Pilate saying to the priests, "you have a guard of soldiers" that he's telling them to use their own people.

On the other hand, the guards were concerned about getting in trouble with the governor. The Jewish leaders gave them money to lie that the disciples stole the body, and then promised to use their political influence to protect them if the governor heard about it.

That wouldn't have been a concern if the governor was not a part of their chain of command. Temple guards wouldn't have gotten into trouble with the governor for falling asleep while guarding some dead guy's tomb.

He is risen indeed, despite #21 Dean Haskins' scurrilous slurs to the contrary.

Jesus of Nazareth is the living King of the Jews, Light of the Gentiles, the Messiah, the Christ, and Savior of all who believe on his name. To those who deny and reject him, Jesus said in Luke 19:27,

"But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."
