Marvel MIA

Bleeding Cool notes that there may be trouble in the house of the Devil Mouse:
Marvel Comics Missing In Action Until At Least Mid-July

Marvel Comics issued a revised shipping schedule last night covering the end of May through into July. But which books are being scheduled and which are not? Firstly, nothing that was solicited for May or June is getting a look in yet, Instead, we seem to be getting a selection of the first few weeks of planned titles for April, spread out across the new period, with monthly comcis every two weeks and collections in the weeks between. Which titles we get, which we don't, which are missing in action, and when if at all we will get them is something I am sure we will be looking at.
We'll see how it all shakes out. In the meantime, we'll continue breaking new ground.

Comic books seem not only misnomoronic but anachronistic.

Why'm I wrong?

Nuff said.

Will there be a day when comics on actual paper become extremely rare?

It would be hilarious if you took over the lion's share of the market while DC and Marvel sit out this whole economic shutdown. Let all the converged corporations go out of business for good.

The Devil Mouse only cares about Marvel in the sense of movies and television. Comics are such a pathetically small part of their income that DM doesn't care.

Yes, the SJW golems that infest DM keep hiring each other in order to get their resume padded with the line of - "Wrote for title XYZ at Marvel Comics" - but the Devil Mouse doesn't care, they'll cancel the comics when the time comes.

The SJW's will shriek and reeee, but their incestuous allies will keep them employed.

I keep hearing theories that DM will farm Marvel comics out to a third party, but I can't imagine how such a third party might make money, with what DM would charge for the 'privilege' of making SJW Marvel Comics.

I keep wondering when the shareholders will wake up and put their foot down - but if most of the shares are held by huge faceless Wall Street Firms as I've always heard - who knows.

And as so many others have said in other locations, the more I see of Current Year comics, the more I appreciate older story lines, older graphic novels & trade paperbacks.

So many good stories and characters and no wokeness in sight.

Just like a rabid dog needs to be put down because it will never, EVER be your pet Fido again, same goes for all of the woke-scold companies.

The only people that will miss woke Marvel, and woke DC, are the editors, writers, and cartoonist, on staff. No one else will give a flying eff about it.

The guys that own comic book shops... sorry guys. I feel your pain.

Marvel has been spiraling down the drain for most of the 21st Century....with them green-lighting poorly-written story lines that constantly ignored characterization for the sake of plot. Marvel Comics from 2001 to 2007 had terrible story lines, such as:

* New X-Men
* The Ultimates
* House of M
* Civil War
* One More Day

Part of the problem with these story lines, is that you can tell that the writers were trying to write for Hollywood, and not playing to the strengths of the comic book medium. Even worse, writers (such as Morrison, Millar, Straczynski, and Bendis) made superheroes much less:

* likeable
* relatable
* moral
* ethical
* heroic

And much more:

* irritating
* immature
* narcissistic
* arrogant

The moral compasses of Marvel superheroes were completely subverted in the 2001-2007 era, years before the modern SJW abomination. If you read these story lines, you'll definitely see it. Even with that virtually endless pile of Disney monopoly money backing it, Marvel Comics was destined to fall. Before the pandemic, nobody was buying Marvel Comics any more, and frankly....even Marvel Comics' practice of "overshipping" couldn't hide this. And yes, overshipping is really just a form of FRAUD (especially the way Marvel implements it).

Nobody that matters will miss "Woke Marvel".

I wonder if this is the death knell for local b&m comic book stores? With Diamond suspending distribution UFN and most comic book stores barely hanging on, this can't be good news.

Both Marvel and DC are owned by movie studios. Movie studios are in the IP business, not the comic book business. So both could shops could be closed without their owners batting an eye.
