No NFL in 2020

Given how the NFL, including star quarterback Drew Brees, have cucked so comprehensively in the face of the Black Lives Matter Most riots, I think it is safe to assume that the NFL is going to resume the downward spiral upon which it embarked in 2017:
Cajoled and challenged by Trump into doing so, Brees has plainly and publicly abandoned his viewpoint that protests during the national anthem constitute disrespect of the flag.

It’s a significant, and powerful, concession from Brees. His prior public apologies didn’t say that it’s not about the flag, an omission that likely was not accidental as Brees searched for a potential middle ground that allowed him to show empathy to the struggles of the black community when dealing with law enforcement while also reserving the right, in the event that he eventually launches his own political career (some believe that’s inevitable) to re-embrace a position that will ingratiate him to a specific segment of the American population — or, perhaps more importantly, that will not alienate them.

If that’s what was going on (and Occam’s razor is an eternal beacon in these contexts), Brees ditched the effort to straddle the fence and came down clearly, unequivocally, and publicly on the side of an issue that will piss off plenty of people, starting with Donald Trump and the Fifth Avenue band.

Coupled with Commissioner Roger Goodell’s compelling video message from earlier in the evening, Brees’ message to the President amounts to the drawing of a line in the sand by the NFL for a political fight to come, especially as the President tries to pump up his base in order to maximize turnout for the November election. At a time when the NFL already is concerned about the impact of the pandemic on the bottom line, the league now has to worry about whether a reprise of the 2017-style son-of-bitches attack from the President will impact TV ratings, especially if players decide to take a knee in peaceful and silent protest during the anthem in 2020.
I stopped subscribing to NFL GamePass in 2017. I'm definitely not going to even consider resubscribing in 2020, even if there are games. And I suspect that I am far from the only former NFL fan to find my interest in the league being severely reduced. While I'm not saying I will never watch a Vikings game or a playoff game, I don't know if I'm even paying enough attention to play fantasy football anymore.

The NFL is going to discover that corporate cancer kills customer interest and customer loyalty.

THE main reason I used to watch the NFL was to escape the continual propaganda blitz we're all subject to 24/7. Now that they're part of the propaganda effort, I simply pressed the off button. And you want to know something, I don't miss the NFL at all.

There's a myriad of ways to escape propaganda.

Blogger wEz June 06, 2020 9:32 AM

I agree. I've been in a ff league for 23 years and I think I'm done.
It's hard to even think about watching another game knowing that the teams and players I'm watching would want me dead if they knew I have a contrary worldview on many issues.

Man Alive.

I only had the last Super Bowl on as background noise (and watched maybe 45 minutes of the three previous seasons combined), this year, I don't think I'll be doing even that.

What a waste.

NBAization of the NFL a black ghetto, they really are low hanging fruit for Trump to take swings at since the extremists always rule the roost. I will bet Trump plays divide and conquer this time around between the black extremists and those that see the folly of burning it all down, we'll see.

One thing I hate about my boycott and the growing boycott of the NFL is that the gamma goofs like Haxo will crow about "n*ggerball" going down like it is going his way.

With the flame out of XFL and possibly no games, at least we have UAtv getting more content and stability.

Even better would be to allocate time to diversifying your skill-set that can be employed even part time at higher rate than a no-skill gig job.

One of the few "big things" I care about is an old muscle car that has been in my life since I was 16. The safest time to drive it was during NFL games when the typical retards were home watching a game.
Hopefully those will be the only people left to keep watching it. They probably have no idea anyway.

Blogger Nihil Dicit June 06, 2020 10:02 AM

The NFL, like most pro leagues and a lot of other people, are acting as if things will be back to normal in a couple of months and soon the money will come rolling back in, probably in even higher waves.

If we had a real economy and a lot of pent-up demand just waiting for the pandemic controls to come off, they might be right. But we don't and there isn't, so the intransigence of both sides in the MLB disaster looks to be the future of American pro sports: overpaid and syet still overextended idiots fighting over the last rancid bits of a corpse that doesn't even realize it's dead.

At least all those "non-revenue" sports, always the most converged (hello US Lesbian Kickball Team! How's the lawsuit going?), will eat the big shit sandwich first.

Pro football used to be something I enjoyed for going on 40 years. It was a nice diversion from the world's troubles. Some years ago I stopped purchasing and wearing anything NFL related, but I still followed the game. This season, if there is a season, I'm just not sure if there is a point to it anymore. SJWs are a pestilence, worse than any locust swarm. Fry em!

Blogger Nihil Dicit June 06, 2020 10:11 AM

By the way somethin', if the national anthem is such an affront to The Only Color That Counts, why do they even play it? Maybe they should just bump this instead.

Blogger RC June 06, 2020 10:15 AM

I love the game of football. I loved playing it and greatly enjoy watching a competitive game. It's all there: physical strength, endurance, and speed in the players, playing out the coaches' chess game, with just enough luck sprinkled in to make it anyone's game.

But with the vast majority of the players either silenced or openly riding on an enemy's train, it's time to step off. This long-time season ticket holder will never attend another NFL game.

Blogger Parrothead Al June 06, 2020 10:24 AM

Been done with NBA, can add MLB and NFL to the I don't care list. I will watch golf and rugby on TV and go the the local high school games for basketball and baseball. Do I really want to spend $100 plus per person for an Astros game, go to downtown Houston, be screened like a terrorist to watch a game run by players and owners that can't work a reasonable return? Hell no.

Blogger Cash June 06, 2020 10:28 AM

Next they are coming for Brady and Rodgers.

I really loved watching football but I have found myself caring less and less and this ends it for me.

The worst part is basketball. I love the game. The current generation of NBA stars are the most well behaved black stars that this country has ever seen. Yet they have completely bought into this nonsense ever since Obama made an outreach effort to the players.

LeBron James and Steph Curry are good dads, good with their money, etc. And yet it is still all the white mans fault.

It's a shame.

There are a lot of really good white basketball players but I could see more and more of them opting to stay in Europe. The NBA may lose it's grip on the basketball world in the next 15 years because of this. Basketball will start to look like soccer with competing leagues and international super teams.

Blogger Lazarus June 06, 2020 10:51 AM

Roger Goodell should step aside so they can get a black man in there. Maybe if Kaepernick's not busy breaking stuff and burning things down, he could finally get back in the NFL.

All I've done the past few years is listen to Jason Whitlock's takes on the NFL and its shenanigans, and periodically checked Larry Johnson (KF Chiefs) twitter feed. I did watch 3/4 of the super bowl. Looks like I'll do even less. Someone like Whitlock is perfect for UATV - based sports reflections.

It is madness on their part. Cord-cutting has strongly accelerated during the lockdown, which makes no sense given everyone bored at home and hungry for any type of entertainment. Except for sports, which has been cancelled across the board. My theory is that it was the sports fans with no content that decided to finally cut the cord since they had nothing to lose.

If there was ever a golden goose that seemed like it couldn't be killed, it's the NFL. But they're sure going to try.

The media's claim that the kneeling isn't about disrespecting the flag or America was always ridiculous. Of course it is; that's the whole point of doing it. If you believe a country is so evil that its government and majority population will allow (or encourage) the killing of innocent minorities on a regular basis--which is what the kneelers claim to believe--why would you show respect to that country's symbols? They kneel during the anthem to make their disrespect clear, and then everyone agrees to ignore what they're saying.

Blogger jkmack June 06, 2020 11:33 AM

I stopped watching the nfl around the time NBC started darkening the studio for earth day and letting spanish language announcers call a play on english TV. I feel confirmed in my choice as pink proliferated their uniforms and the 'taking a knee' buffoonery. This past year has certainly made me feel a little like Big Bear and Vox Day must feel when they see the continuation of a pattern, recognized long ago.

Makes sense. ESPN is by far the most expensive channel, just as NFL broadcasts are by far the highest rated thing on TV. Take that away, and you're really paying for crap.

I continued listening to a couple sports radio shows for a while during the pandemic, because they still had the offseason/draft stuff to talk about, and it was better than all-pandemic-all-the-time. But it was only a matter of time before the lack of topics led to them drifting into politics, so I've dropped that too. I've always enjoyed football and really don't pay much attention to athlete's political positions anyway. I did enjoy college football but the increasing political garbage and crime surrounding those programs has me down to one or two games a year for reasons that are more divorcing from the programs rather than overt distaste.

That said, this political cleansing, added to all the criminal conduct and spitting on the flog, means I won't even watch a pro football broadcast

Sports was my guy thing. I am not a car guy, or a tool guy, or a gun guy, or a hunting and fishing guy. I was a sports guy. I was also a politics guy. After I became a Christian in the early 1990s my politics changed from libertarian to social conservative.

Social conservatives have not done very well for past 60 or so years and the reason is obvious. Our faith and our families are more important to us than our politics. We mostly just want to be left alone to live our lives as patriotic, God fearing Americans. The leftists are not so inclined. To the leftist every thing is political and they are much more motivated to win and they never give up.

As the SJWs invaded my guy place of sports it became harder and harder to justify spending time there. I would watch my sports guys on ESPN in the morning before work and in the evening after work. But their leftist views became more and more unbearable. Watching the sporting events was also becoming less enjoyable as the folks that I was watching were becoming less and less like me and more and more like people who hated me.

So three years I just quit watching. No sports at all now. And no cable TV. I have not been tempted to watch or to follow my favorite teams and I don't miss them.

"Challenged by Trump into doing so"

Oh, so his black fellow-athletes weren't enough. It took some Big White Man to compel a statement from Mr. Brees. Because how could black men alone challenge a white QB superstar, right Mike Florio?

"It's not about the flag"

Refusing to salute the flag is not about the flag. Mike Florio, are you a crazy person? No, you're just a liar.

Imagine being Colin Pumpernickel reading this. The entire point of his stunt was to disrespect the flag, and here comes this Florio chump robbing the kneeling gesture of meaning. White boy gots ta get got.

"His prior public apologies..."

Blogger The Pitchfork Rebel June 06, 2020 4:43 PM

The NFL will survive, albeit in a different, smaller form. White women show their equality by being over-the-top, officially licensed jersey wearing fans. They learn the name for a few positions, offensive and defensive alignments and think that means they understand football. Many of them originally thought being amiable to football would make them more attractive, and some now use it to fill their lonely husband and child free days.

My cousin's kid is actually a local sportscaster. One day she was rambling on about something and just for fun, I said "FIRST NAME, sweetie, you don't understand football because you've never been knocked on your ass and wondered if somebody got the license plate of the truck that just hit you while you lay there gasping".

Beyond the fact that football has a diversity problem, I don't want to hear see some idiot female asking some linebacker about how he snuffed the draw play and forced a fourth down.

I half expect Tampax to but time during the next Superbowl.

Blogger cecilhenry June 06, 2020 5:02 PM

You need to decide NFL, are you playing football for the fans and their love of the game, or for politics?

Choose wisely.

So many professional sports leagues, even the Whitest of White NHL, can't resist embracing the progessivist, condescending, anti-White agenda.

If they think people won't find other sports, other activities, and other pursuits due to disgust with this agenda, they are sorely mistaken.

It won't be hard to leave. Many have and many are only casual fans to mostly indifferent now.

They won't be coming back if you sell out.

They won't forget because the agenda you embraced is something fans are drowned in constantly, and they only come to sports to escape that evil.

My interest in the NFL has been declining for years. I've always been more of a fan of the NHL, but that league too seems determined to alienate its core fan base to pacify the impossible to satisfy SJWs.

What I don't think any of these leagues realize is that with the advent of streaming and high quality digital cameras, they have a lot of potential competition from a host of youth, amateur, and beer leagues that can stream cheap content that is just as entertaining, without the woke and bloviating commentary.

And as it so happens, corona-chan just got a whole host of people a lot of experience on how to stream content during this lockdown. It would be richly ironic if ordinary men took that experience and started streaming their own adult sports leagues to the masses as alternatives to pro sports.

The ones who don't (Angry Joe, Jim Sterling, etc.) quickly find the big "unsubscribe" button punched and the bell un-rung, at least by some sizable portion of their former audience.

Anyway, I could totally see getting into following the exploits of some sports team/league on YT if they kept the freakin' Narrative out of it.

Also, was a big Iggles fan from the '80s up into the '10s. Had been losing interest in the later years anyway, but the Kaepernick incident sealed it. Didn't watch a second of them winning the Superbowl for the first time in ever, nor have I seen anything they've done since.

Denver Broncos go full SJW!

Yep. It's been a long, long time since I've spent money on a pro sporting event or merchandise. But tossing a few bucks a month or a one-time donation to a streamer or podcaster who entertained me or taught me something? Absolutely.

ESPN is so SJW now that one gets angry watching it. Sports used to be a respite from politics, but I suppose Disney (ESPN's owners) have decided that not even one bit of televised entertainment can be narrative-free for inescapable indoctrination.
Perhaps Americans can rediscover older weekend hobbies and pastimes. I used to like badminton and wiffle ball when I was a kid. I know some people get really good at their hobbies like woodworking and furniture-making. Like many others, the NFL preaching at me just turns me off.

The God Emperor should concentrate efforts into making the USA World Cup champions (soccer).

A lot of NFL teams are doing the same thing the Broncos are, if not being quite as explicit. The Bills are in the process of shaming Fromm for tweets from last year someone leaked, and doubtless anyone in the league who publicly expresses sentiments not in line with the SJWs is going to get a public shaming if they don't just get cut or fired.

XFL, it'd be a nice time for you to find someone who isn't an SJW to buy you and return to operations to pick up all the good players who aren't woke enough for the NFL.

And the NFL may still have a slightly better public image than the squabbling idiots of Major League Baseball, who have already shot all their collective toes off and are now aiming for their heads.

Kneel before no man. Only kneel before God.

Haven't watched a game since the kneeling began. Don't miss it at all.

I cut the cord almost 20 years ago. I bought an indoor HD antenna for watching sportsball, but that's been gathering dust now, though I will occasionally surf the antenna to see what passes for network programming these days. Invariably it is leftist propaganda, utterly unwatchable. The comedies are unfunny, usually about fat minorities. The dramas are a joke.
