Color me dubious

UNCW professor Mike Adams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a news release from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives began their investigation in partnership with the medical examiner and it was ascertained that Mr. Adams committed suicide with a single gunshot wound to the head,” the news release stated.

No one else was in the home at the time of the incident and no foul play is suspected, the sheriff’s office says.

Because he was so depressed about being paid more than $500k to go and do whatever he wanted? I am... skeptical.

Suicide is too convenient an explanation. I would be very interested to hear what his friends and family have to say on the subject.

How very convenient . . . for whomever at UNCW. I had an inkling of this when the first report of his death said cops found his body during a 'welfare check,' implying he was not of sound mind. A supposed 'friend' called the cops and asked they check him - first time in his life at age 55 and about to have some financial freedom? No way.

You don't have to have a good hitman, you need to control the medical examiner.

Friend of mine was the lawyer for a station in a smaller but still ghetto city. The city decided to keep down their crime rate by jukeing the stats. Losing robbery and larceny reports when there is no insurer is easy.

Murders are little harder. So they made a deal with the gangs, shot people with their bodies found in the river committed suicide on the banks and fell in. Like 10-20 a year worth.

Everyone in the know was joking about it. It finally got so bad the state made them stop doing it and the rate skyrocketed, but it worked for almost a decade.

Blogger tublecane July 27, 2020 6:28 PM

I didn't realize I knew who this was, but I saw articles about his death modifying his name with the word "controversial." Which of course means wrongthinking in some way. Didn't know which way, but I'm going to assume it's Christianity.

Forcing a settlement for discrimination on a university for shafting a non-left professor is reason enough to want him dead. That's vengeance.

Letters to a Young Progressive is a title I recognize, though I don't think I've read it.

Blogger Daniel July 27, 2020 6:29 PM

Less than UNC-Wilmington would be willing to pay to silence and discredit as insane someone who was only recently freed to say what he really knew.

From an earlier June article linked in the above:

"Adams, who also works as columnist for The Daily Wire and Town Hall, offended thousands with a May 29 Twitter post that read, “This evening, I ate pizza and drank beer with six guys at a six seat table top. I almost felt like a free man who was not living in the slave state of North Carolina. Massa Cooper, let my people go!"

Wow, he's "offending thousands." What a monster!

Blogger Daniel July 27, 2020 6:37 PM

A Mike Adams murder would point to Chancellor Sartarelli's deflection strategy for saying: “If you are asking me tomorrow to start painting and decorating the university with Black Lives Matter, that’s going to be very difficult because I believe All Lives Matter.”

Adams would have been able to spill all the beans on Sartarelli's racism...and that would have been the end of Sartarelli.

So whether the esteemed Chancellor pulled the trigger or not, it was an "either me or him" situation.

@15 He was a normiecon on racial issues, defining racism as "Racism is a specific belief that races can be ranked according to genetically inherited characteristics. For example . . . This genetic inferiority allegedly manifests itself in lower intelligence, which, in turn, translates into other undesirable characteristics such as sloth and a propensity toward crime." A more accurate definition would be "a term used to abuse white people into acting against their own interests."

But, unlike most normiecons, he actually fought the left, and fought them in a way that caused them pain. The world is poorer without him.

I was looking through some of his old Townhall articles and he made brief reference to his wife in 2006 (My Apology to UNC-Wilmington).

I saw him speak at UNC-Greensboro while I was a student there. He was smart and funny and good at dismantling liberal ideology, which angered all the typical SJWs.

Color me dubious also, but there is one mitigating element that a lot of people do not understand until it happens to them. A professor teaching at a university interacts regularly with 100's of people a day and has substantive interaction with at least 10-20 people, maybe more a day.

There is a syndrome, noted in many retired people where they enter a state of clinical depression during the first year of retirement (or forced separation from their previous life). Suddenly at home, their daily interactions drop to 10 or less unless they force themselves to get out. But the big drop is in substantive interactions and these can go to 2 or 3 or even zero if they do not have a husband or wife or roommate. This is a significant psychological shock for many people. This is especially true for males who both got their interactions and their sense of worth from their work activities. With both of those elements suddenly removed (especially in the case of someone abruptly discharged from their position with strong negative connotations) they are left adrift and unless they have a strong support network to help them weather the transition, it can be seriously disruptive and cause clinical depression. One of the factors that prevents help is the person often denies there is a problem and the more alpha they are the more they try to power through the sudden isolation on their own, hiding their growing isolation from everyone who could help.

I am not saying this happened, but from the outside he fits the profile. Without knowing more about his immediate support network this is all guesswork but it does fit a pattern. Most people are not under the pressure and socially destructive attacks he had to endure.

I hope he did not really commit suicide, but if he didn't it had to be a professional job to stage the event so effectively. Was he that important? I don't know enough about the internals, but per our past discussion on assassination and someone's point about cost/benefit analysis, was this worth the expense or was he driven to the point of getting him to do it to himself? These decisions sometimes happen suddenly...on the spur of the moment. Sadly, we may never know.

Blogger Todd Bruno July 28, 2020 8:08 AM

This doesn't surprise me. I liked Adams, but every time I saw him speak, and it even comes through in his writing, I picked up that same a manic-depressive vibe you get from a lot of comedians, many of who take their own lives.

The take on this as given is about as wrong at it could be. The reason some people fall apart with retirement is because they have nothing but the job. They may not like the job, but when the job goes away and their life is empty. That is not going to be even close to true with this professor.

As an example, just look at ex US presidents. If anything they last longer than the rest of us because they are active, engaged people with lots of side things they can do. It is the mono interest, non learning type that fall apart.

Its because he didn't play ball like the the controlled opposition normiecons that he got whacked.

If that were true, we'd all be dropping like flies already in a gloves-off tyranny. So, if a murder, it's quite unlikely to be over anything so prosaic.

When academics, mid-level bureaucrats, and talking-heads are assassinated, it's invariably over something specific. If not money-relative, then typically it's because they "know too much" about something, and must be cleaned up as a loose-end.

No suicide note.

They didn't manage to stage it effectively, the managed to control the investigating officers.

Blogger Sheila4g July 28, 2020 11:54 AM

They've officially ruled it suicide by a gunshot wound to the head. No note, not even due to officially leave his job until 01 Aug, and he had apparently been trying to patch things up with his ex-wife. Still give no real reasons and stinks to high heaven.

Not leaving a note is definitely not like him at all. He was a fantastic writer, unafraid to call out anyone. His prose was clear and concise. For this reason alone, I am very suspicious.

He was also a serious Christian, and he frequently spent summers lecturing and teaching at a church-related ministry. I'm sure he had plenty to do and much interaction at his church/ministry. That's something to live for. He probably had all kinds of opportunities for public speaking, too.

Suicide just doesn't fit.

What's s incredible about the Epstein case is how, despite nobody believing that it was suicide, it was swept under the rug. (Where are the trials for the guards? the warden? Where's the massive report/evaluation on security?)
