She certainly got something

From a book I recently scanned:

Amelia Earheart was an inspiration to women everywhere. She wanted something more than hearth and home, and she got it.

She died childless and alone, presumably of starvation, on an uninhabited island. So inspirational!

Why do the people who write these bookssbooks to assume that people in the past were seeking their names in history books as a reward for their deeds?

Blogger Oswald July 23, 2020 8:14 AM

There is a lot of spin about that era. A friend recently pointed out to me the break down of American soldier deaths in World War II by race. Most interesting, was the number of American airmen that died in the War by race. It was very enlightening. Current trends in the media would have led me to believe the numbers were very different. (Pardon me, if my friend's insight originated from here, as I know he follows this blog.)

If someone told me that Big Pharma funded the current wave or two of feminism I'd agree. They would literally have free labor as the chick herd tries to conform to the crazy herd mindset, each individual chick trying to passively-aggressively outdo the other chicks in the herd so said chick did not get sent to the dangerous edge of the herd. Think of the sales, they would practically make themselves.

I had to infogalactic that. Btw I have to thank the IG team for that IG extension that gets me directly on the corresponding IG page from a simple google search and wiki link click.

The idea that one would want to be the second first just for the acclaim is ridiculous. Lindbergh had already done what she was initially too afraid to try and she wasn't even the one piloting the plane. She said it herself: "Stultz did all the flying—had to. I was just baggage, like a sack of potatoes." She added, "... maybe someday I'll try it alone."

"She died childless and alone, presumably of starvation, on an uninhabited island. So inspirational!"

Solid humour. Had me laughing.

Women's natural strengths, so needed in the home, are a whirlwind of disaster out in society. Nurturing turns into the welfare state and huge tax increases. Caring turns into diversity quotas and equality of outcome. The State moves from manageable to MASSIVE. Abortions by the millions. They never should have been given the vote. One man's opinion.

I know the Hultgren-Curie Syndrome has been so named, but adding Earheart to the moniker would really fill it out.

Especially considering the fanfare given for her ride-along across the Atlantic, being the first woman to essentially be Ubered across by an actual pilot.

Blogger Newscaper312 July 23, 2020 8:40 AM

Reading between the lines of even the Wikipedia entry on Earharts publisher and promoter husband, it is painfully clear how she was a completely stage managed, manufactured celebrity. Not completely phony, as she actually was a pilot, but a female Lindbergh? Not even close. On the voyage she died on, the male "copilot" was clearly the senior in experience including that icky navigation stuff.

Like many women, she probably liked the sound of being the 'first female [insert male achievement here]' more than the reality of actually having to accomplish the deed.

Too bad then that she was cherry-picked by a ringmaster who wanted to get in her knickers by pushing her to do it, as much for his reputation as her benefit. She was most likely a dyke anyway.

I have to admit the promethian alpha's have one hell of a deal going. Basically try to kill off good alpha and bravos leaving a malleable group of slaves gammas and women. The women can be used to manipulate the gamma and the few remaining alpha's get all the women.

It would be brilliant if it weren't so evil and destructive.

Earheart was also a terrible pilot. Flying an aircraft, physically, is a talent and you either have it or not. Managing the machine and the environment can be learned but you need to be intelligent and humble in the face of nature.

The interesting part of piloting is looking after the engine, managing the fuel, planning around the weather, dealing with air traffic control, and improvising during the flight to deal with changing circumstances such as weather, other traffic, and equipment malfunctions.

Earheart had neither the talent nor the intelligence nor the humility.

In order to get killed in an airplane there are three common factors: compromised pilot, equipment malfunction, and bad weather. You will survive any two of those at the same time. Earheart was a bad pilot so that is strike one. She (and her mechanic) probably had an equipment malfunction with their primitive radio direction finder so that is strike two. The weather at the time was an impenetrable haze that made visual navigation impossible. That is strike three.

Earheart ran out of ideas, ran out of gas, and ran out of time.

She had Fred with her. A navigator who who worked on air clippers. He was also a licensed any ocean ships master. Plus the coast guard ship transmitting the beacon.

They were really unlucky. For a publicity stunt she was as protected as she could be.

But, yes, I agree with your main point.

Japanese deny recovering wreckage shown on a Japanese ship in photographs taken near the port of Truk. There's also a caucasian couple in another photograph taken at the same place which look suspiciously like Fred Noonan and Amelia Earhart, but a bit too small for positive identification of the faces.

Blogger Eincrou July 23, 2020 10:11 AM

Dalrock comprehensively annihilated the tale of Amelia Earheart on his blog's pages many years ago.

That's why a few months ago when a prog metal band I enjoy posted the first single, The Canary from their then upcoming album, I was grimacing at the lyrics. I still do when I listen to the track today.

"Women must pay for everything / They do get more glory than men for comparable tasks / But they also get more notoriety when they crash"

It's true, I suppose. But do you have to be so "on-the-nose" with these verses?

The lyrics across the album have no subtlety and pull no punches. All the tracks are a modern, left-leaning person's perspective on various historical events. Though the lyrics to Little Snakes match some things I've read on this blog.

"Oh what a typical story / Contested site, the Americas / With treaties broken, the same sad token / Torn and repaired it with paraffin"

When we used to have in person hearings I drove a fair amount--pre covid. So I listened to a lot of podcasts because US corporate radio is pretty bad and I am not a sports fan.

My favorites were disappeared people and real life mysteries. Astonishing Legends on Earheart was really well done (as was their Flannan Isles Lighthouse and Mothman).

I sort of miss driving and listening, but not as much as I am happy to not have to drive

When the White nations abolished slavery, your African brethren begged them to keep it going. There is still slavery among your African brethren. More black people are killed by other blacks in a year than have ever been killed by the Ku Klux Klan and lynch mobs. You people are treated worse by your own than by Whites. The movie you are uploading is your (Hammites-Congoid's) version. You belong to a cult of a false prophet of a false god. YOUR lies do not stand or come out in the wash. Atlas Airlines 3591. Black copilot kept getting fired for incompetence but getting hired at new places that needed the diversity points.

Accidentally hit the go around switch, didn't realize that was what he did, pitched the nose hard down, wouldn't release the controls, and crashed into the ground calling out to god the whole way and ignoring the other two crew tying to fix it.

It was a cruel twist of fate that Amelia Earheart never got to see the stunning and brave women of "Sex and the City" that she inspired.

The greater tragedy here, however, is that the .89 or so seconds it took the SDL to read those two comical sentences is time he'll never get back.

Blogger RedJack July 23, 2020 1:11 PM

My oldest loved her as an example. At a local air show Sweetie Bear met a female stunt pilot and mentioned her love of Amelia. Lady pilot mocked here and said "Honey I had a family, learned to fly my self, and didn't do it for the fame. Amelia was a whore."

Blogger American Nationalist July 23, 2020 1:14 PM

She was also a terrible pilot. Numerous times she crashed before taking off, and once her male co-pilot had to land the plane for her, enraging her husband who was also her manager. And I didn't read this from an alternative historical source, I read this in a book written for middle schoolers.

It's actually pretty unlikely she ended up on an island at all. She had literally no idea where the fuck she was going.

Blogger tuberman July 23, 2020 1:16 PM

Yep, true, as it's all about getting off, and often, promiscuously. Gay males are slightly worse, but lesbos are into this too. It also goes over into other perversions (doing pedo sex, pets, etc). Getting further up the ladder of success is a bonus.

Blogger Daniel July 23, 2020 1:32 PM

It's actually pretty unlikely she ended up on an island at all. She had literally no idea where the fuck she was going.

She wasn't flying the plane. At all. She couldn't fly it. That flight required instrument flying, which she openly acknowledged she could not and would not do. Her co-pilot crash landed the out-of-fuel plane, ended up badly injured, and Earhardt made at least 50 distress calls when the tide was low enough for the plane's engine to start.

There is almost no doubt based on the verified calls and triangulation and women's clothes (and male skeleton) fold in the 1940s that she died on that tiny island, a mere 200 meters from mainland civilization, and the plane washed out to see.

She was the first femaLe passenger of a transhemisemihemiequatorial water landing. So there's that.

Blogger Linda Fox July 23, 2020 1:54 PM

I know so few women who are content to live at the end of their lives surrounded by cats. Mostly, they are bitter, lonely old women.
The one exception to that is women who have consciously built a family structure around them - nieces/nephews, sisters (in the religious life), those living in small towns where they are valued.
But, in cities? Picture the Sex & the City gang around 70 - sour, droopy, alcoholic.

I'm not a fan of bubble-butts either, but Amelia Earhart was a "painted trollop" of her day. The 20's had a strange fascination with androgynous body types, and that's what Earhart was - tall, minimal curves, boyish looking face, masculine hobbies... same as the Kardashians, she was giving society a distorted image of a woman.

I have a lot of respect for the guy who flew that airplane back in the 40s. It was still a very mechanical way of like back then. Barely electronic at all by today’s standards. It was probably closer to the technology of the steam locomotive than to the ordinary passenger airliner of today.

The media loves tragedy though, and they can ascribe lots of different things to the deceased that are very hard, if not impossible to refute. A legend with little basis in reality.

The conspiracy theory theory that the US DoD had convinced her to take a reconnoitering detour over a Japanese-held island (and she was forced to land) is all over the mainstream. Somebody's uncle on Saipan, a picture on someone on a dock, a jar of face cream: scant evidence but not out of the question. There is also some anomaly when they lost radio contact, allegedly.

As far as her fame goes, I suppose one could go further and imagine maybe the DoD planned it, and making the pilot a woman and publicizing it was an attempt at a hide-in-plain-sight trick.
