So he wrote an explainer on QAnon’s ever-evolving machinations, cautioning readers that as Christians, they must “reject the movement’s fanatical and dangerous messages.”
Many QAnon posts and merchandise feature a Bible verse that is popular among white evangelicals, 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
In the evangelical world, this verse means that God will heal America of abortion and human trafficking, which is often described as “modern-day slavery.” In the QAnon world, it means God will free America of the satanic denizens of the “deep state” who are running a global child sex trafficking ring.
Nothing is more dangerous to the Satan-worshipping pedophist than the message that there are people who accepted the Devil's offer to rule the world if only they would bow down to him. Unless, of course, it is the message that the Bible is literally true and the Christian perspective on good and evil is correct.
It isn't so much fascinating as it is informative to observe how they don't preach against actual sin or observable evil, but they don't hesitate to preach against the truth.

I think the original rhetoric is fine and probably won't be improved upon here, although it does work better in writing than verbal. 100% true story, first-hand from my older sister. In college in the 70s as a Catholic, she gradually got involved with the Charismatics, and then crossed over to some of the Protestant Evangelicals. As a a degreed social worker a few years out of college, she got tired of working the hood for Catholic Social Devices, and in the 80s worked a few years for PTL Club and their adoption agency/unwed mother's residence on the grounds at the mother ship near Charlotte NC (maybe actually in SC.) Whole deal was to reduce abortions, the moms would get a place to stay for free while pregnant and their babies would be placed with "good Christian families".
Anyway, she got out a year or two before it all blew up. The Southern Baptist Church has had pedophists for many years. Search on First Baptist Church of Gainesville, GA and read how that church hid an active predator for years and even allowed him to continue his role with the Boy Scouts after he had been discovered.
My take on JD Greear is that he is working hard to make the SBC more "inclusive", "open" and "welcoming" while not emphasizing repentance as being necessary. As part of that, he has turned a deaf ear on those who have asked for his help in dealing with known predators who are still active members of the SBC.
