The Monster Hunter abandons Facebook
It's probably just as well people are exiting mainstream social media before they are hounded from it:
I scrolled through my feed. There was lots and lots of links to Proper Media and gloating and virtue signaling about the end of our “national nightmare” by total strangers which I’m being shown for some baffling reason. Then there were posts by my actual friends, only anything they said which deviated from leftist orthodoxy usually had comments from angry self-righteous types trying to shame/browbeat/gaslight them into compliance.
And then the last post I read? Some local dude I friended years ago for reasons I can’t even remember posted a giant screed about how he was butt hurt and outraged because he walked into a blue collar automotive business, and some of the employees weren’t wearing masks. (GASP!) So he did his business in abject terror of looming death (he’s around my age) and immediately afterwards reported the business to their corporate headquarters and the state health department so those evil murderous (probably scraping by on just over minimum wage) employees could get fired and their (probably struggling) franchise owner could get fined into bankruptcy. Then all the comments were people telling this hero how stunning and brave he was.
At that point I closed the page, assured I was making the right call. Any loss of sales I get from no longer participating in that cesspool will more than be made up for by improvements to my mood. If leaving Facebook means that I’m going to be in a “right wing echo chamber” (as I’m continually warned by my co-dependent friends who have become accustomed to the endless abuse masquerading as “dialog”) so be it. That sounds splendid.
The "echo chamber" argument is put forth by losers and gammas on both sides who are just terrified, not unjustifiably, that they'll be left out of the party once all the popular people leave their fever swamps. Don't take it seriously.

This is what is going to happen with the GOPe as well. Withdrawl of consent.
Never had anything to do with FB or twitter.
Tell me what I have missed bar the kind of crap Box mentioned above?
From now on, if I hear someone say “echo chamber,” I’m going to assume they mean a gothic stone cathedral.
And that tosser trying to get people fired really boils my piss!
I enjoy reading and contributing midwit takes with people who share my values.
Engaging with people that think infanticide is womens healthcare is not on my agenda.
I'll leave the conversations about conversations to the liars like Harris, Peterson, Shapiru et al.
Excellent. I'm doing the same.
As more people move away the reason for others being their diminishes.
An "echo chamber" only could be a problem if you enter it and never leave. I bloody WISH that were even an option.
the echo chamber argument is also always part of the sjw projection
Echo chamber is one of the oldest ways to get out of dealing with the facts and arguments put forward. I have deleted everyone who is anti Trump or pro Biden from my friends list on FB. Much nicer browsing!
Bravo!
"fever swamps"
That will become my personal safe word/get thee behind me phrase now. When some former friend insists I must dialogue lest my thoughts be corrupted by the "echo chamber," I'll simply say "fever swamps" as I walk in the opposite direction.
Let them figure out what that means. Or not. To hell with them.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
i would rather be in an echo chamber anyway.
I have been looking for ways to leave for a long time now, especially Twitter and even tried to close my account once President Trump's account was permanently blocked, but couldn't figure out how. I also realized that it might not be a bad idea to make a digital and paper backup of my Tweets and FB timeline posts, depending on how bad things get.
In this small Georgia town there are no mandates except what the individual businesses require. You never see a mask in the three gun stores and in the tire/mechanic place I use, only the occasional customer is in a mask. Usually women. There's a corporate fastener store which has a "Masks required" sign on the door but neither staff nor customers wear them.
Spirituality is more about subtraction than addition - Paraphrase of Meister Eckhardt
The nice thing about "the right" is that because we don't have an official narrative, there's lots of room for differences of opinion. Sure most of us are retards, but we won't ruin your life if your opinion is wrong.
Spirituality is more about subtraction and addition. - paraphrase from Meister Eckardt
Deleted it two weeks ago after 11 years. Sick and tired of the constant moral preening from high school nothings I haven't seen since the early 90s. Final nail was the near unanimous trauma and epic denunciation of the Capitol 'riot'. F those fools and especially F Zuckerberg.
An adherence to the good, the true, and the beautiful is what they consider an "echo chamber". How ever can they infiltrate such a place to spread their evil, lies, and vileness? Of course they screech.
I closed my FB acct about 16 days ago. There is the 30 days one must wait before it is officially closed, knowing the addict (me) will likely want to take just one more peek. Not this time. (I've started this process about 3 different times).
Godspeed, appreciate you Vox.
Echo chambers are racist.
Cathedrals.
Natural Canyons which require getting out of the inner city cesspools.
And which is better to listen to in an echo chamber, high class classical music or (c)rap music?
See? Racist.
Quiet deep thinking is raciss.
And of course, SJWs project, knowing they live 24/7 in an echo chamber.
Reality is an echo chamber to twisted freaks who live in darkness and delusions.
I have a minimal social media presence in order to placate HR.
In many companies HR has someone who social media stalks every one.
So I amuse myself by trying to f with the algorithms . But to be honest I'm not even doing that anymore. Facebook made even casual trolling no fun
Facebook killed itself.
What they call echo chambers are the modern equivalents of discussion groups famous historical physicists and astronomers had with their peers so they could talk shop, sharpen their arguments, hone their logic and broaden their horizons.
It took me a very long time, but in the last decade or so, I finally realized that you can only share your life with people who want the same things and share the same values. With those people you can have differing ideas about he means (this is politics large and small), but contrary to the BS people spread about us all wanting the same things, many do not. They are not on your side. They do not have your best interest at heart. They see you as tools to leverage.
Ghost them.
And none of this is to say uniformity is what anyone needs, but I am not your friend if i cannot hope for, help with and enjoy your success.
Ah, Fecesbook. What we do without it?
All social media taught me is that most people are communist retards and like being a bitch to someone. Even LinkedIn has shown itself to be leftist trash. I've always had not problem saying that few of my fellow Americans have a life or property I would give a damn about defending these days.
I'd love to be a concentration camp director for a future Adolf Pinochet regime.
Facebook is an echo chamber. All noise, no content.
Closed mine after the *Installation* yesterday.
+1
Left the BorgBook more than a decade ago. Never missed it.
Deleted it long enough ago that I'm officially a "non"...sisters actually worried over me. Told them I posted that I was going to do this for weeks.
"But how will we keep in touch?"
Ummmm...phone? ...email? ...smoke signals? ...Rune script?
I really need to incorporate "tosser" and "boils my piss" to my vernacular. American swearing is boring and lacks imagination.
Well done, Monster Hunter. Your real fans will have no trouble finding you. I think you will be surprised how few trolls bother.
@VD speaking of which, I subscribed to UATV under my other (personal) email address but have not got an SG subscription yet. It has been a bit over a week. I can haz pls?
What part of ditch FB/Twatter etc did you not understand.
They want your family suffering, and you're helping them achieve that!
I have to confess a lack of sympathy to this sort of thing. The comparison of conservative users and big tech social media to abused trailer spouses and abusive partners completely falls apart when you realize, it didn't matter. They have a shackle on their left leg, such that no matter what realization of the horrors and abuse they receive, they'll grandstand about for a bit, they won't get slapped, and they'll go back to their holding pattern. Then some other event will happen,, someone will feel like they were slapped, and there will be a rash of waking up and breaking out for a while.
An Omega knows this very well.
I understand Correia's use of the tool for business purposes. I guess I'm just annoyed at his use of rhetoric.
For the rest of them, more than using a tool that hates you and will turn on you, the underlying addiction needs to be treated. That is when you are free. You can hate something as much as you like, but until you really, really extricate yourself from it, you deserve to suffer it.
I love Larry's writing. In his books there is this twist. He constantly makes counter suggestions about "Conspiracy Theories," where his protagonist characters are laughing at Conspiracy Theories, and later on stumble into proof some are completely true. He's had an amusing way to deal with this material, and still work with a mainstream publishing house.
I gave up on arguing with shitlibs online a long time ago.
They are not there to debate. They are there to browbeat, gaslight, insult, and rage.
That is why they will still be around after their "win". They live a lifestyle, and are of a mental state - and probably mentally I'll too - if which they are incapable of being happy. Sure they might gave carresed a nipple during the Biden play inauguration, but that satisfaction is ultimately hollow.
Even the good guys would suffer if some distant political event was all they had. There are good people who have reduced themselves to such and suffer.
Social media with these people is like mud wrestling with a hog. You'll both be covered in filth, but the hog will be happy.
I agree with you on this echo chamber BS. It's almost as much fallacy as "muh free speech". When left facebook in 2019 some boomer friends said to me "how will you make any difference?". These are the same people making group emails caterwauling every time they end up in Facebook Jail and going on about it like their tongue got forcibly removed.
Ultimately, arguing with internet losers goes nowhere and it's a waste of time.
I just hope Larry C. actually MAINTAINS the email list he asked us to sign up on. I'll sign up for his blog updates, too. His writing is good fun. I just wish it came out faster!
Vox, your point regarding all the popular people is on target. If Trump's supporters all leave Fagbook, they'll eat one another alive trying to out- virtue one another.
Deleting your Facebook is what all the cool kids do
Same here in our town in FL. Everything seems “normal”. Praise God.
Welcome to the Dark Side; we have cookies. We also have some semblance of peace and tranquility.
After I got the Brave browser, I was able to get back on the Facebook page I'd been blocked from for years. I had already closed out my nain page and intended to close this one as well, after I touch base with a number of people I currently have no other way of getting in touch or maintaining contact with.
Newt Gingrich is there, urging conservatives to join hands with Democrats, I guess for the good of the country. All politiciabs are fucking disgusting. Which brings me to my next point.
Tbese people urging the fornation of a new "Patriot Party" have not and will never learn their lesson.
Political parties, like Facebook, are fucking evil by definition.
"Echo chamber" is just a pejorative term for "place where there are people I like who share my values." Who doesn't want to spend most of their time in places like that?
Isn't that why the left wants to unperson people who express unapproved opinions in the places they control? It's upsetting to them. They want to live in an "echo chamber."
Very well. Let us separate. Of course, they are driven mad by the thought that somewhere, just out of sight, out of earshot, people are expressing opinions and ideas they loath -- misinformation! Hate speech! We must be stopped, even if they can't hear or see us! They will never let us go peacefully.
Off the main topic, but I listened to Simon Parkes today on his explanation of why the Storm failed. I have to say - it's plausible if and only if you think the storm and Q was plausible.
I'm going to reserve a % of my allocation of reality probablity to Parkes' explanation, but I also have to say - it's a bit convenient to have a just-so explanation for the failure of the double-envelopment at the last minute.
Regardless, it's all fascinating.
Same here in my two stoplight town in KY. One local grocery store is really nutty with it, but all others don’t care. Heck, the restaurants are supposed to be 50% and they’re 100%. It’s nice.
"The "echo chamber" argument ..."
Argument?
I say advocacy...
I know personally some of the people who have DIY and alternative medical groups on Facebook that I am talking them into leaving facebook. They were slowly moving away from it over the past couple of years. This tech giant purge of conservative groups has definitely lit the fire under their asses to get off of Facebook.
Heaven is an echo chamber.
Facebook was nothing but advertisements and dumb videos. So glad I deleted it.
Larry Correia thinks he'll take a sales hit when he leaves Facebook.
I doubt that will be the case in the slightest.
I just closed my account.
Ha, indeed.
Nothing more sad and pathetic than a low status white leftist, if not for the conservatives they would probably off themselves. Conservatives will always stooge for the "liberals" see the above by Larry who finally wised up.
Hell conservatives don't even have enough sense to tone police the "liberals."
There.really.isnt.going.to.be.any.other.way. is there?
Quiet Poetic wrote:i would rather be in an echo chamber anyway.
I would too; it's the only way I could hear myself think.
Lots of pics of kittens and lasagna.
Well said. The "echo chamber" rhetoric is just another piece of the "diversity" narrative and is evil for much the same reason. Diversity denies an ethnic homeland to the natives; the "echo chamber" threat denies a place for unpopular ideologies to build a concensus and bolster morale.
Mmmmm... Beautiful thought, Snidely. And what a glorious sound will be echoing therein! I can hardly wait!!
If my "echo chamber" is free from deranged, reality denying, Marxists, who are actually creating the macro social echo chamber, I won't bat an eyelash.

Never dealt with abused women much, have you. This is the classic pattern, only even when they are themselves abused, they will cry, and then go back. Every damned time.
Here's the secret about both abused wives and Conservatives though, they go back because they want the abuse to continue. For whatever reason, whether feelings of unworthiness, or catharsis, or penance for their guilt, or just straight masochism, they want it to go on.
Conservatives stay on Facebook and twitter because they get a little thrill when some new Commie calls them a racist. Everything else is just an excuse.
The people who complain that you want an echo chamber are the same ones who point, shriek, and report you for badthink when you correct their lies.
But how will I play Farmville?
It's not complicated, and you can download your own archives in a zip file before deleting your profile.
Stop saying it's to hard and actually do it. No one can respect a half effort feels.
I've found Facefreak to be an excellent tool for culling associates and friends, especially through the era of Trump and covid. I've just silently slipped out of numerous associations or friendships based on people's Facefreak screeds. Likewise, it's given me good ideas about with whom I wish to associate in my professional life, and gives me further insight into which types of conversations or topics to avoid when interacting with my colleauges. A truly devious sociopath could easily use it to manipulate his associates, colleagues and friends. My family is still mostly there, and some friends from the past. I'll post the occasional picture of myself on the golf course or at a restaurant with friends. Otherwise, it's just another stupid social media tool that I can't believe anyone uses to voice their political opinions or spit venom at people they don't like.
I still post on Facebook. My latest post in response to the local library being opened or closed. I posted a "They Live" meme with Zuckerberg. Revealing the Zukerfuker as the ((aliens)). Lets see if ((they)) delete this and who will unfriend me.
facebook is where the Jaguar XJS and Triumph Spitfire groups went after Yahoo groups died.
Its where parts can be found since Ebay has gotten scammy
Left Facebook in 2004. Never frequented Twitter. I have a zero social media emissions footprint. Family’s the same. How they conned so many into getting hooked on their pernicious product amazes me. Think about how utterly vacuous and superfluous they are and yet there are literally millions who are convinced that FB is the only thing that stands between them and the Stone Age. What a joke.
Test
BB had a good point regarding this. I don't want to hear about what AOC said or that Rob Denero has wet dreams about punching Trump in the face. I don't care that Shapiru wins debates against tweens, and I have no interest in round table Judeo-athiest conversations about their chosen people status.
Encouraging dialog with satanists will get you nowhere good.
UATV, SG and Beartaria have really been amazing for my family and I. You don't realize the overwhelming amount of subversion you wade through on other social media sites until you step away and join more wholesome platforms.
I've always wondered what it would be like to go back to the "old way" of doing things when it came to networking (for business...yeah, that's it). It actually sounds way less stressful than having to deal with morons in your timeline crowing how awesome Biden will be. (lol)
All Big Tech did was turn everything into a foxtrotting digital high school where the kids say crap about you and try to apply peer pressure. (Remember that?) Only difference is you don't get to kick the shit out of the people who were talebearing. In fact, *you* end up being the one who gets punished.
Yes maybe the echo chamber argument is put on both sides. But only one side doesn't accept viewpoint diversity, the side that murdered close to a hundred million people in the 20th century. The same side that usually has Communist or Socialist in their name: CCP, USSR, NAZI (National SocialiZmus), and hopefully not Democratic Socialism.

I had a "friend" who was a Never Trumper "Christian" who wouldn't stop sending me malarkey about how unchristian mainstream evangelicals (which includes me) were for supporting Trump after I asked him to stop texting me his screeds about it. Then I read 2 Tim 3:5 and the last three words of the verse hit me like a ton of bricks, in reference to abuse from people who're abusive and ignore the truth, "Avoid such people." I blocked his phone number and, Voila! No more stress from this "friend," bless his heart.
They are envious, jealous and never creating a thing in miserable lives. This is why they want you disappeared. They are empty soulless beings who know nothing but hate. Most will never know the joy of children or wallow in the beauty of a Renaissance painting or the exaltation of listening to a Bach or a Beethoven.
Love is not a word in their vocabulary. Their souls have been darkened by evil and for many there is no cure.
I've been off FB for about two years. The amount of pointless hours I had spent on there was absurd. Cost<benefit.
Gee I might not be up to speed on that decades old non relationship I have with somebody I knew in high school...

A mass exodus of such that the shitlibs and wokespittles are left behind to deal with each other would be the best revenge at this point.
And the "Cult of free" must end. The best part of paid for service is that a troll is already lost from the start because they paid to troll. This is why I was never against the darkstream being members only.
Thinking of it, paying in one way or another can be money or blood. That which is free has zero value. So out in meatspace saying some things can get you punched in the face. Civilization was better before internet. Losing money is another punch in the face. But " cult of free" can in a roundabout be shamed for operating under no consequence.
Back in the day, before ammo got really expensive, I would hear complaints about the cost of ammo by people who could hurf and blurf about shooting while online, but never show up at the range. So I tell them I have extra ammo.
Finally they show up. Oh look a late model car with 1000 dollar sound system or 2000 dollar aftermarket wheels. Oh look they smoke two packs a day. Oh look they have stories about all those times they got drunk at bars.
So anybody who can't come up with 5 bucks for some online service is worse than a loser. Everybody using free social services while pouring out money for crap they can survive without is worse than a loser.
RESONANCE CHAMBER
I’m working on a plug-in that gives you a monthly roundup of which advertisers exposed their photons/phonons to your brain from each main site. That way of you can’t peel yourself off of sites you know are cancerous at least you can personally boycott the revenue sources you contributed to their bank accounts.
(By “working on” I mean doing the initial research about how ads and ad tracking works, and trying to figure out the appropriate implementation paradigm—browser add-on, freestanding app, etc. if anyone who already knows more about how this stuff works wants to appropriate the idea and get it done faster please go for it!)
I for one welcome those leaving that garbage dump of a website. We all sin.

I´ll be very honest and say that I get some enjoyment that the good Mr. Correia obviously didn´t like the "losing it with style" fallacy when it were his head on the proverbial block. I´m aware that it may be my petty side that chuckle just a bit or perhaps just that I remember his actions and words when he thought himself safe from the Pedocrats and their minions.

No doubt. I realized in my early 30's if most of them were dumped in a trench, set on fire, and buried, the world would be a better place for everyone.
The educated ones are the worst of all of them.
It's easier for some of us to "divest" (to use a term more often heard on the "other side") more quickly than others due to knowledge, physical issues (bilateral carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome for example), emotional problems like depression, or certain family or friends who need their help and can only be accessed by Facebook. There have been technical issues with Social Galactic that I personally just started to make progress with in the last 48 hours. I would also like to point out that some folks seem to want to " virtue signal " (gee, golly gosh, another term from the enemy) about how fast they closed their Twitter and Facebook accounts. What about their Netflix account? Amazon? What kind of a phone do they own and how old is it? As Owen Benjamin asks frequently: what does your browser history look like? Do you want to stop pedophilia? Stop supporting the industry that supports pedophilia! Stop watching porn!
Facebook is for dopamine junkies and those who hover below the average IQ.
I left nearly 6 years ago, complete waste of time.
When I first got on FB I was shocked at how much more mean and abusive people were, but cowered when you got face to face with them. Nowadays people have adapted their abhorrent behavior learned interacting on the internet to their face to face daily routine.
It has destroyed human interaction.

That is a bad youtube url there. The "t" parameter is used to indicate the time when the video is to begin playback. The t=4593 says to start playback at the 4593-second mark or the 76-minute 33-second mark. This URL has no "v" parameter which would be the ID of the video.

I actually found some of the faces the sign language interpreter was making to be quite amusing. I wish I knew sign language to see if she was actually signing what he said or something like "this guy's an idiot. Don't listen to him. And that's because we have a society in which people don't get punched in the face for such behavior. One in which you can't do so, without fear of being ruined financially and/or by being made a criminal.
Others have commented here in the past (which opened my eyes to this) on the damage that causes, contrary to the modern notion that it makes us more civilized. Which is empirically false, when you look at things honestly and objectively.
Exhibit A is my brother-in-law, my wife's older brother. I bit my tongue and held my fists for decades when faced with his petty bullying and snarky, condescending comments; aimed at my wife, other family, and me at times. All for family peace, ostensibly. Foolish, I understand now. Only recently I had finally had enough and barely restrained myself from putting him on the ground. With a resultant kerfuffle in the family of course.
If I had done so 30+ yrs ago he would have maybe changed for the better, and at minimum his crap would have not been aimed at me and mine all this time. Doing so now might have brought criminal and/or civil actions that might have ruined me. Doing so in the late 80s would have just been a "fight" between a couple of young guys. Different worlds (not that things were perfect then, of course; far from it).
@110 "has your bacon never been fried...?"
Not infrequently, and in a cast iron pan... NOTHING bad about it.
Except he isn't exactly leaving, is he? First sentence was "I’m paring down my FB presence." Commendable, but far from giving FB the middle finger and closing your account. Much as I like LC and read his blog he's oddly naive about more that a few things. Seems to me he's more frustrated about being personally banned or restricted than anything else, like theoretical concerns about what a pig sty FB is.
FWIW, The Saga of the Forgotten Warrior is the best High Fantasy I have read this century, and is probably the best written series of this century. Hands down. Frustrating that it doesn't seem to get much attention, though I guess Baen is unlikely to drop the series for poor sales. But I plug it every chance I get.
@86 @102 @123 "that really microwaves my one rasher of bacon at high temp for randomly selected amount of time." Unattended ambrosia turns to ashes. Sad.
Good news: it's two weeks since I put in my FaceBook delete request. Life continues to be SO MUCH BETTER than before. So many people on FB were nuking my bacon, and I've been giving the 2 Tim 3:5 treatment (avoiding) folks who act the same way to my non FaceBook face in real life. " I feel good. So good...so good!"

"Fries my bacon" means something akin to "adding salt to the wound."
So the scenario is someone stole your bacon, and is now frying it to eat it in front of you. You can smell the delicious aroma of your own bacon frying, but you can't have any.
Usage:
"He's frying my bacon." << "This fries my bacon."
"I'm frying your bacon."
It's shorthand, you're supposed to fill in the context for it to make sense; not look for ways for it to not make sense.
Why, thankyou, Sir Hamster, for explaining this expression to us.
I looked up "fries my bacon" on UrbanDictionary, and it really fries my bacon that a Biden reference appeared, unbidden, as the Urban Dictionary Word of the Day" (for January 22): 'We did it, Joe." Grrrrrrr.
With all due respect, Dark One, you misspelled International Lord of Hate. You would think you guys were never in the Evil League of Evil together or something. ;)
