Junior Classics 2020 on Amazon

The first three volumes of the 2020 edition of the Junior Classics are now available at Castalia Direct as well as on Amazon. The digital editions will be made available after they are sent to the backers. They are an ideal resource for homeschoolers.

On one hand I wanted to have something special; on the other I am glad these are being reprinted for the masses. Good work y’all.

Blogger Randomatos February 01, 2021 12:06 PM

These are beautiful books, very happy with my backer editions!

Blogger David McCarthy February 01, 2021 12:22 PM

Could someone please give an age range for these books? In terms of both reading difficulty and content maturity level. Thanks

Blogger Manster February 01, 2021 12:23 PM

I wasn't a Backer, but I bought the Backer Version when you opened it up to us later.

For Volumes IV+, if I just wait and buy these versions, will it be the same size? I know it won't have the Original Backer stamp on back, but I just mainly want to make sure they will be the same size. Will there be any other notable differences?

Blogger Ronius_Maximus February 01, 2021 12:27 PM

I'll have to recreate an Amazon account just to leave some reviews.

Blogger Dave in Ahia February 01, 2021 12:32 PM

I purchased the first three and am very pleased. Should I be buying the next available editions through Castalia or Amazon? Which makes you more money?

Blogger Jeff February 01, 2021 1:04 PM

Just odered on Amazon, simply for the free shipping. Thanks for your hard work on these! Sorry I didn't get in as a backer.

Look at the back and the title page.

Yes, they will match perfectly. The backers editions have distinct labels on the back cover and on the title page. Otherwise, they are precisely the same.

Should I be buying the next available editions through Castalia or Amazon? Which makes you more money?

Definitely Castalia.

I'm assuming backer shipments to the UK will be significantly delayed as a result of covid procedures.

Can any fellow UK backers advise if they have/haven't received theirs yet?

Blogger Curtis Spicoli February 01, 2021 1:27 PM

I ordered mine though I can’t wait to read these stories to my kids until they can read them themselves. Education for us both.

Blogger ThirdMonkey February 01, 2021 1:27 PM

Really enjoying my backer editions. We homeschool 4 kids, (6,9,12, & 15) and all four enjoy them as read-alouds for the younger two, and reading on their own for the older two. If there are any flaws, I have yet to find one. You'd be a fool to NOT get these for your library. I may even buy four more sets for each of the kids to give as gifts later one when they are parents themselves.

Does anyone have advice on which years' Childcraft "How and Why" (from World Book, probably still under copyright) I should look for? I had some orange-covered ones growing up and loved them.

Ordered! What a great legacy project you have put together. My children will be showing up to the future with a deep knowledge of Western civilization.

Blogger Keith February 01, 2021 2:11 PM

Bezos got his before I got mine :-(

These books are fantastic; my middle son is reading (out loud) Tales of Greece and Rome, and the youngest (who is autistic) is listening to the first volume as Daddy reads to him.

I'm waiting for the e-books, but I'm very glad I went for the hardcovers as well. As part of the paying-it-forward that I owe a certain person, I'm going to buy a second set and ship them to some friends of ours who homeschool their children.

If anyone is reading this post and is on the fence about a large purchase then please do not hesitate.

These are one of the best purchases I've ever made for my children.

Print and cover quality are exceptional without even mentioning the standard of the literature that was hand picked to fill these pages.

Do your descendants a favour that they'll cherish for a lifetime.

Blogger Timstick February 01, 2021 2:38 PM

I haven't received mine yet.

Blogger T.L. Ciottoli February 01, 2021 3:25 PM

Great article about a contemporary classicist...

Blogger Doktor Jeep February 01, 2021 3:38 PM

They tried to kill these books.
They failed.

Mine came over a week ago to U.K. , perfectly packed. Delighting my youngest boy greatly. He’s on volume 2 already.

Blogger Newscaper312 February 01, 2021 4:30 PM

Originally paid for two copies of the ebooks. Just went ahead ordered Vol 1 hardback.

He wouldn't appreciate them anyway.

I am in another part of Europe and still waiting.

Haven’t received mine yet. Left a message on indiegogo

Blogger MidnightSun February 01, 2021 7:35 PM

Received my backer's edition today. Well worth the wait. They are simply beautiful.

Blogger Billy February 01, 2021 8:29 PM

Didn’t get mine yet, but I just remembered they will be marked as Original Backer Edition or similar, thanks for that. So glad to have the opportunity to support something G,B&T. I love the first three Castalia books I received, gorgeous work. My wife likes Awake in the Night Land the most from a purely decorative perspective. I Hope the proliferation of these great stories thru Amazon enriches many young minds.

Just received the first shipment of three books. Excellent quality and well worth the wait!

Blogger phunktor February 01, 2021 10:04 PM

Just sent all 3 to my sweetie to read to her fresh ggdottir. In reality it's a flotation prayer for her. Maybe a couple of generations are rejecting Wesciv primarily because they've never seen it.
And maybe the tadpole will hop off into the wilds.

Blogger Unknown February 01, 2021 10:14 PM

I sponsored the publication last year as a backer. Will I get the books?

Blogger lynnjynh9315 February 01, 2021 10:48 PM

I own the hardcovers. How much to get the e-books too?

Blogger IncoherentM February 01, 2021 10:49 PM

Great to see.

Blogger Black Bird February 01, 2021 11:28 PM

Blogger wgmeisheid February 02, 2021 8:24 AM

It is obvious something is wrong. How do we find out what is going on?

I see what you did there.

Blogger VFM #0168 February 02, 2021 3:44 PM

What a great surprise to receive our first three volumes today. They are gorgeous and I can't wait for the full collection once they come available.

Blogger sammibandit February 02, 2021 8:47 PM

I just opened my backer box and the books look great. No damage. They are luxe!

I mailed them to my parent's because they're home all day. My dad perused the first volume and was thrilled to see so much Andersen (we're distant relatives of him). He's also thrilled about the Irish tales and the sagas. I'll probably have a hard time prying them away from him when it's time to read them to my kids!

Very happy with the "customer experience". My dad even said I'd want to hold onto the set for the future as an heirloom. Can't speak highly enough.

Blogger OldOutsider February 02, 2021 9:55 PM

Just received my copies and within the first 5 minutes my daughter asked me to read her a story. Excellent work here Vox and crew.
