To guarantee deletion
Post your comment twice. Or three or four times, as some moronic would-be commenters do. In case you still haven't figured it out, the comments here are moderated. So, when - not if, when - your comment does not appear right away, that is not an indication that something went wrong somehow and therefore you should repeat your comment.
And frankly, if this concept was ever difficult for you to understand, you probably should not be commenting here anyhow.
Every comment that is posted more than once will be deleted. Repeat offenders will have their comments spammed, which will eventually lead to none of your comments appearing at all. And no, the moderators are not even a little bit interested in the usual excuse of how "the preview didn't work and my comment didn't appear, and so I thought that if there is even a slight possibility that readers here might be deprived of my Very Important Opinion, it was imperative that I submit it again."
Allow me to spell this out for the gammas: never, ever, enter a comment twice more than once. Yes, this means you. Even you. And especially you.
This rule is ontologically applicable. This rule applies regardless of whether you think your comment went through or not. This rule applies under every possible, imaginable, and hypothetical scenario. There is NEVER any excuse for submitting a comment twice. And if a comment is submitted twice, both iterations will be deleted by the moderators.
The amusing thing about this reiteration is the whining protests of the gammas. They know perfectly well that they'll be the most affected by this.
UPDATE: Apparently this is yet another problem we can blame on Boomers. Two double comments, both Boomers, including one on this very post.

Except when it's the useful stuff. As if it was never even read.
I like this part: "This applies under every possible, imaginable, and hypothetical scenario." This is completely definitive; it leaves no room for uncertainty; this is clarity in as pure a form as I've seen. Hamlet would appreciate this.
I don't see a purpose for having comments in the first place. Most people don't read them and it's mainly autistic screeching.
"By your command."

@Shane Bradman
Without comments, or some form of intelligent feedback with the readers, a blog itself eventually becomes autistic screeching. You see this everywhere in the mainstream where comments were removed. Removing them is like a king killing his fool for making fun of his paunch - now nobody will tell the king he is fat and diabetic.
So just to be clear, five times is still okay, right?
At least I don't have Alzheimer's.
At least I don't have Alzheimer's.
At least I don't have Alzheimer's.
Maybe this blog is really popular in a memory care unit somewhere out there and they just forgot they posted? Just kidding, gammas ruin everything.
Sir I don’t believe you have a clear understanding of the situation. These folks come from a higher public school education. This is a training behavior in education taught by unions to teachers with long term obedience training
Please consider the medical conditions and medications they are under. This all May be a to big of a shot to the system.
Nothing like a stream of consciousness posted multiple times. Thank you mods, I can only imagine what DOESN'T make it here.

But...but...but...what if my very important comment, which was totally going to change how people think about this topic, isn't able to be heard by the world?
Ninety-nine percent of comments are little more than people intellectually and emotionally processing what has already been stated. Our comments add nothing of material value to the discussion, but simply serve to cement in our own individual minds what someone else just said. There's importance in this on an individual level, but I could gain the same value by writing my thoughts in a private diary.
The existence of a comment section invites a wider audience to the blog because people need to feel that they are participating. But it's like having a two-year-old help bake a cake. Yes, the child is participating, and the child's feelings of inclusion and social connection are vital, but the adult could bake the cake faster without the child involved.
Are blog comments worth the trouble? If the child & cake analogy fits, then, yes, in some situations, the comments are necessary, even if they come with the occasional tantrums. The problem with the internet is that, instead of dealing with one two-year-old, a popular blog could easily attract a thousand of them at once, at which point it is better just to bake the cake yourself. Let readers create and moderate independent forums to discuss the blog and whatever else they want.
So, you're saying I should comment twice?
So, you're saying I should comment twice?
Well you see, there was a time before baboons and bears when this blog had the best comments section on the entire internet. Some of us have been here since the very beginning and long for those days to return.
It is a testament to this blog's growing popularity that stuff like that needs to be said out loud. Then again MPAI.
I am a little slow. Why would someone post the same comment more than once?
“ I don't see a purpose for having comments in the first place. Most people don't read them and it's mainly autistic screeching.”
And yet...here you are.
Shane Bradman,
I enjoy reading the comments as much as the posts. You don't speak for everyone.
So just to be clear, five times is still okay, right?
Updated for the gammas, spergs, and gamma spergs.
The comments can produce nuggets of information, good links to further information, book reckmmendations etc, and sadly, a lot of shite.
Such is life!
"I don't see a purpose for having comments in the first place. Most people don't read them and it's mainly autistic screeching."
That is strange, a comment stating that comments are worthless, especially coming from a man who has commented here a couple dozen times since 1/1.
The comments certainly aren't what they used to be, but I've learned a lot from the Ilk over these many years and even though VD is pressed and many gather elsewhere now, the comments are, net/net, still worth perusing.
Over the years some OPs blossomed into extended debates, at least one of which was edited into a book. And a few of the Ilk have had books published. That would not have happened without comments.
I learned this fairly quickly some months back. I posted a comment for the first time. I wrote it out, hit ”Publish” and then went back a page to get to the blog main page. I didn’t get to the main page but there was my comment again all typed out and sitting in the text box waiting to be published. I thought I had made a mistake and possibly did not submit it correctly so a hit publish a second time. When I saw a third time when I went back that the comment was in the text box again and realized I had done it right the first time and then commented twice.
In short, sometimes the comment box will have your comment show up again as if it was not submitted. It was submitted the first time, don’t let it fool you when you back page.
I learn a lot from the comments.
I think sometimes it confuses people who don't comment much that the comments don't show up right away. They might think there was some sort of error and it didn't go through.
Except these people would argue with Moses that the 10 commandments have cut out CV lauses for special people.
If only there was someway to have a lurking requirement before posting. I think I lurked for at least 3 years until I posted.
The biggest field produces the biggest crop. But also needs the most fertilizer.
I think sometimes it confuses people who don't comment much that the comments don't show up right away. They might think there was some sort of error and it didn't go through.
First, that is obvious. Second, if they are capable of being confused by that, they are probably not intelligent enough to be commenting here in the first place.
And wtf is it with these comments that are walls of text? It's supposed to be a comment, not an essay.
If you're doubting the integrity of your the comment you're about to publush, a reliable and viable option is to stfu
Shane Bradman wrote:I don't see a purpose for having comments in the first place. Most people don't read them and it's mainly autistic screeching.
This place used to have the best comments on the internet. It's still head and shoulders above most, but as some of the best have moved on and the noobs have migrated in, the quality of the commenters has decreased.
Vox's comment crackdowns always help though. Not once has one of comment rules changes resulted in a worse comment section. Now, if we could get our new crop of regulars to understand how to designate a target/comment toward who they are replying to, that would be a huge step. I've seen the mods adress this once or twice to no avail. It's not the blog and the mods' fault that people have to shoot off their very, very important insights first or else no one will know how very smart they are.
Communicating with gammas requires one to speak like a lawyer. It's maddening. Here's my contribution.
What if you are off your meds and comment thousands of times? Is there some threshold beyond which you will throw up your arms and give up?
What if each comment thus submitted differs by one character, and is technically not the same comment? How about a difference of two characters? Where is the line drawn?!
Vox must apprise prospective commenters of every single nuance or otherwise they should be exonerated!
The above is said heavily in jest. Still, the problem is real, so glad the moderation is being upped. It does set a new bar for those who are tall enough for the ride.
Gammas will always gamma, and will find some stupid exception they think applies to them.
Al From Bay Shore wrote:I like this part: "This applies under every possible, imaginable, and hypothetical scenario." This is completely definitive; it leaves no room for uncertainty; this is clarity in as pure a form as I've seen. Hamlet would appreciate this.
Gamma: Hold my beer.
Normal people believe this. I bet it still won't work.
Just curious: does anyone still give you recommendations on which videos to watch? Your responses to those are always entertaining.
"I think sometimes it confuses people who don't comment much that the comments don't show up right away. They might think there was some sort of error and it didn't go through."
It literally says "will show after approval" after you hit the publish button on both the PC and phone. Sadly, many these days don't even bother to look before they hit publish, let alone after.
Once I think something actually went wrong and I may have posted twice, and I was worried. Either I didn't post twice, or the mods didn't think I posted twice on purpose, or something.
Some kind of weird glitch. Maybe I just should've copied the post, refreshed, then pasted and posted.
Whatever the case, funny blogpost.
Just want to thank the mods for all the spam they must deal with. And thanks for moderating some of my comments away - no doubt you saved me some embarrassment.
I enter comments. The default for the login is now as David(Google). They never make it- I am assuming either I am blocked or have violated something. In any event- that's OK- if you are a mod reading this, thanks for your good work. This is the best comment section out there.
@26 Nostromo
And the most pesticide.
these comments that are walls of text? It's supposed to be a comment, not an essay.
Virtually never are long comments as concise as they should be. On some topics like free trade it hypothetically makes sense to trade essays though.
There are two main wall of text errors. First is the gamma self justification and obsession. Second is when someone is circling around, repeatedly trying and failing to make his point. Best to delete everything and go with the finalest iteration.
This is true.
@2 - Surely you have experienced that which unites across all social, economic, political and even ethnic divides in modren Murica: special pleading.
There's always a reason why this does not apply to them.
Big shoutout to the mods. I've noticed from my own blog that Blogger has the dumbest comments system conceivable. That, and VP is a gamma magnet because they get punished here. Gammas crave the forbidden fruit, like every other irrelevant imbecile.
five times must be the charm, eh?
I think people are more accustomed to their post appearing instantly, like on the mainstream sites. But it's more likely their own client end point is echoing back while the actual post call is still travelling.
For moderation, I never saw anybody have a genuine issue with moderation beyond the desire to complain about it as a form of "muh free speech" concern trolling. The best answer to that is probably "OK gamma".
Speaking of Gammas, if you want to see a perfect example of a gamma sperg, a free floating class 5 specimen, search yootoob for "jeremy dewitte orlando".
You will be intrigued and regretful.
The follow on comments are my main reason for following any of the blogs and forums for as long as I have.
This may be the only comment section worth participating in, and heavy moderation of idiots is one of the major reasons. Most the internet is unbearably retarded, mentally speaking.
shane bradman, i find the comments to be a tremendous resource. love them.
The preview button is your friend. I use it to review comments before I press publish. If you press preview it will even hold your text while you navigate in other tabs. People should use it as a failsafe to prevent double posts.
And don't forget to the new readers, the rules of the blog are linked at the bottom of every post.
One time I posted a comment twice; the "preview" and "publish" buttons appear to do the same thing and there was no indication for several hours that "preview" had actually published my comment. Perhaps duplicate comments such as VD is discussing are caused by such mistakes.
I find the life you lead incredibly bizarre. I am certain I did this once, and I am certain I almost did it again and said "Wait, these are moderated, chill out."
I just can't imagine the frustration of multiple people blowing up your email screeing.
Surprised that No one has called Vox a "rule nazi" or flounced away vowing "I'll never to post here again!". LOL
Is gamma sperg equal to mega sperg?
Asking for a friend. :)
Not a complaint, but I rarely comment here because of this setup. It eliminates any back and forth unless, you have unlimited time. The content is top shelf though.
But Vox, their comments are so super Earth shattering important, they have to make sure it gets posted.
Otherwise, how could our lives be so greatly enriched if we don’t have access to such wisdom?
I forgot to mention the humour. Some of the comments make me roar with laughter, which is a good thing.
I agree!
A few times, I posted and the screen didn’t refresh. I waited 24 hrs and still did not post. Is it then safe to repost a message or do it slightly different so it seems like a different message.
You will learn that if google says "Oops! Something happened!", mostly means nothing happened. Then there is the Vox rule.
You know the site is very clear about the comment being VISIBLE, AFTER APPROVAL.
So, I think hitting "publish" a zillion times is stupid.
But the flashing light on the screen took a hold of the word thingies on my computer box! It's not my fault!
Unknown wrote:I am a little slow. Why would someone post the same comment more than once?
The only benign reason I can think of is a spelling error, or something like that, because Blogspot's comment section doesn't have an edit function, like nearly everywhere else does.
So now, if spelling and grammar bother you that much, you have to proof read your post before publishing. Or train your brain so that you type it correct the first time.
Oh, how horrifying. /s
Yeah, everybody got that?!!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
I am using opera, and I get the yellow text box that my comment is awaiting moderation, as soon as I hit publish.
Are other browser versions different?
I’m a lurker, rarely post. Have never seen “rule nazi” but MANY times have seen a commenter flounce away vowing never to return - only to see them return soon. Sometimes in very same post.
But commenting twice doubles the information and who wouldn’t want to know twice as much? Science!
Timmy3: “Is it then safe to repost a message . . .”
I think it’s safe to say what posters have to write isn’t really all that important but if you think it is, we’re poorer for it and you just have to get it out, start a blog.
That’s the message.
Double posting is the new tag.
Triple posting is the new ((())).
Come on man!
Since there's literally nowhere else right now online devoted to analyzing Pizzagate etc. I figured you won't mind if I plug a new Gab group here, provided I only post this comment once.
https://gab.com/groups/34479
@63, Using Brave and get the same message. At this point you can probably use this behavior as a rudimentary (but more accurate than public school) IQ test
Well, how else will you get a chance to feel superior and exercise your knowledge to my occasional posts? But my response is mere acknowledgement of how much I enjoy reading Vox. It’s not to debate or add anything.
It shows you a message that that your comment will appear after review by moderators. If that's confusing, they have bigger problems than their comments being missed.
*am now waiting for Vox to double post a blog*
Unknown wrote:I am a little slow. Why would someone post the same comment more than once?
Blogspot backend lately doesn't work very well on anything not Chrome.
Even before I saw the 5x in @6, I got a good laugh at the "twice" strikethrough.
I have tripped over the back button issue before.
This is a blog not a forum. We come here to read VD’s take and the moderators are key to filter out the crap. If you aren’t adding content pertinent to the discussion, it’s the moderator’s job to delete it. If they think my post is crap I expect them to delete it so it saves your time of reading a crap post.

Surprised that No one has called Vox a "rule nazi" or flounced away vowing "I'll never to post here again!". LOL
all such posts deleted due to multiplicate posting.
Seriously- glitches happen. Like when my 15 month old slapped my phone screen. Now I'm probably banned for life. Thanks a lot, baby. So much for trying to read Vox during nap time.
Timmy3 wrote:A few times, I posted and the screen didn’t refresh. I waited 24 hrs and still did not post. Is it then safe to repost a message or do it slightly different so it seems like a different message.
If your comment doesn't appear, and you see other comments have made it through moderation since you posted, it's because it was deleted by a mod. If so, you can be absolutely certain it added nothing whatever to the discussion, and probably you should be embarrassed.
After I press send, my browser for some reason immediately jumps me to the top of the page, and when I scroll way back down to the comment box at the bottom, sometimes it tells me that my comment is awaiting approval, sometimes it says nothing, and sometimes there's a vague error message. It's confusing and inconsistent, so I surely have been guilty of re-posting, but only when my best guess is that the first attempt didn't take.
Years ago, Vox Day responded to one of my comments with the following (paraphrased): "Cut it out."
I did. I've long considered blogs to be the personal domain of the particular host who sponsored the blog. As such, just as if you were in their home, if they ask you to tone down your comments, you do so - out of simple courtesy to the host and the other guests.
This is in contrast to company sponsored forums, or to more public discussion forums where I would be less likely to defer.
It seems to me that Vox's request that people resist double posting is perfectly reasonable, as it leads to "pollution" of the comment section. Since this is a private blog - not a public forum, I'm not sure why anyone would refuse to comply with the request of the host.
But that's just my opinion.
@Shane Bradman, and yet you post, why? Because, I read them, even your posts, because the long timers here enhance the posts of the proprietor. Whether or not you consider yourself a long timer, I do. And your posts I read.
It's your blog, do as you like.
But in the long laundry-list of bad-acting, double-posting ranks pretty low.
If at first it seems like the site is broke, jackhammer that "Publish" button a millions time to make the mods happy.
The last time I had an issue it was with the Preview button repeatedly disappearing my comment as if was functioning like the Publish button. So I’m testing that now by only clicking Preview and seeing if this comment appears.
Could you repeat the part about not commenting twice ?
lynnjynh9315 wrote:But in the long laundry-list of bad-acting, double-posting ranks pretty low.
How much are you paying for the moderators' attention and time?
I think it was over a year ago, that someone here repeated a post....something like 17 or 18 times in a thread. I don't even remember what the guy said. You'd think he'd made his point after the fourth or fifth time.
Once is enough.
@3 "Most people don't read them"
By which you mean YOU don't read them so you don't notice or care that many many people not only read the comments but comment back, kid, and discuss other people's comments.
@77 "Like when my 15 month old slapped my phone screen. Now I'm probably banned for life. Thanks a lot, baby."
Hope you were reading it out loud TO your baby! Raise 'em up right!!
No, Avalanche. The vast majority of readers don't comment.
In the last year, there have been 407 pageviews for every comment. Commenters are a tiny percentage of the blog readers. Less than one percent.
Oh wow. Less than 1%. I hadn't thought about it from that angle: of course since you have nearly millions of page views, and there are many regular / repeat commenters... many more never comment.
Ironic much?
Commenting on a lack of need for comments. And yes, I made this mistake once or twice at first...
🔥🌲
@Buzzardist You’ve well articulated the purpose for commentary... which it took my reading your comment to be able to process, nice!
As a UX dude, I can attest that the problem is the lack of appropriate affordance and response upon posting. It’s the blog functionality that is causing it.
A proper alert upon posting would fix this usability problem.
"A few times, I posted and the screen didn’t refresh. I waited 24 hrs and still did not post. Is it then safe to repost a message or do it slightly different so it seems like a different message."
Lord, have mercy. Who has time to keep up with their comments life this? Get a life and you won't care if something you said on the internet yesterday got posted.
Most of Shane's comments are on point. But not this one, sorry brother. We all have bad days.
Just had a vision of Vox doing an impression of Dave Coulier's "Cut it out".
Okay, that's admittedly a silly vision.
The reason this place works is because VD Silences the Silencers. The only way to ensure a platform built on a philosophy is to maintain that philosophy within the community. Cloying types (gammas), spiraling, must be called out and shut down. If The Right behaved as VD does, we might actually have mainstream platforms.
@ Avalanche
" Less than 1%. I hadn't thought about it from that angle: of course since you have nearly millions of page views, and there are many regular / repeat commenters... many more never comment."
I'm sure there are people like me who have been reading Vox's blog since he started it. I have only commented 3 or 4 times, mostly because as a midwit I don't want make a fool out of myself.
@Parallax:
I think it’s safe to say what posters have to write isn’t really all that important but if you think it is, we’re poorer for it and you just have to get it out, start a blog.
Yes. If you have an idea that you cannot stand to be lost to the digital wastes between the electrons, then the way for you to make that happen is by starting your own blog.
And if that isn't good enough for you, then you're just trying to hijack the mic here because for some reason, no one would ever read your blog. But you see, it stands to reason that for the same reason, no one would like to read your vital essay as a comment here either.
Logic! Love it, learn it, live it.
@80. Harris: "Years ago, Vox Day responded to one of my comments with the following (paraphrased): "Cut it out."
Ha! For me, it took multiple pointed comments by Vox and 300+ other comments. I don't get verbal beatdowns like that IRL, let alone from the best. Cringe inducing and refreshing at the same time. Vox has helped me grow and I can't be the only one.
There was an instance where I simply entered a comment once-absolutely positively once. After it was approved I saw it was listed twice. Wasn’t sure how it occurred but I immediately deleted the extra. If I had to guess it’s gotta be something I did by accident or my phone. I value this blog & if I can’t comment then let it be so but there’s no ill will from my end.
Blame it on boomers AND Amazon Fire Silk browser... I swear I touched publish, but when I went back to my tablet later; the comment area was again filled with my comment. It was very tempting after not being certain sure that I had touched the publish button with the right amount of elan, to repeat.
If people block third party cookies to reduce tracking, it has to be disabled on a per site basis for services like google that use it to work. If not, posting looks like something went wrong, or doesn't work at all. This could be an issue for some people.

my dog did it! I swear.
