Surviving civil collapse

This harrowing account of living through the 1992 LA riots is more a treatise on what not to do than anything else, but it is extremely educational about what may be in the cards in various cities this summer:

I was supposed to meet my wife at Soup Plantation, a well known restaurant down the road. I couldn't get her on the mobile. When I got there and parked, there was a queasy air amidst all the shopping mall splendour and people had a frightened look in their eyes that I had never, ever seen before. The easy listening music in the restaurant was so mundane it was hard to reconcile with the outside windows, which had fire engines, police cars and people running on foot outside. I had planned to just eat quickly with my wife and go home, because I was having trouble absorbing the idea that this thing was possibly even worse than I might have imagined. I thought South Central was so far off, truth is it was about five minutes down the road.

People in the restaurant were watching the television reports, which were growing increasingly more feverish and seemed to just show one new burning building every thirty seconds. I was trying to keep a calm demeanour and went to explain to my wife what was happening.

All of a sudden, a woman in the restaurant screamed. A guy dropped his tray and soup went everywhere. A man was standing in the doorway of Soup Plantation and wobbling on his feet. Blood was gushing out of his forehead which had a nasty gash running right down to his ear. He yelled "They're coming! They are next door in the mall!! They're tearing everything to pieces!"

You could have heard a pin drop. Then the restaurant exploded with activity and EVERYBODY was crawling over the women and children trying to get to their cars in the parking lot outside. I'm talking blind panic here, people smacking into each other like they could not give a fugg less about any human in the world outside of themselves. A guy floored his Subaru and tore the toll gate right off the booth. Everybody else was following him out, the attendant was gone. There was cars hitting each other like bumper buggies at the carnival, nobody seemed to care, everybody wanted to get out to the street.

When we made it out onto the highway, I got my first look at the skyline since I left Rodeo Drive. It looked like the fires of hell were consuming half of the city. My wife was crying, she thought it was the end of the world.

I have to admit, I had absolutely no idea things were that bad. Definitely read the whole thing. And I couldn't help but laugh at how bitterly the guy regretted listening to his wife about leaving the house unarmed on a literal milk run. It's epic.

Interesting. I was living in Beverly Hills next to the border of Los Angeles in the Pico-Robertson area when the riots started.

I remember seeing reports of rioting spreading to the Fairfax-La Brea area, just a couple miles from where I lived, but the area I was in, including the LA area adjacent to Beverly Hills was eerily calm.

I doubt it will be as calm this time around.

While that's quite plausible, I don't think this year is typical in any sense of the word. All the anomalies going on (DC with 6 million soldiers on guard, etc) give me this feeling (pls no bully) that anything can happen.

I remember that Soup Plantation and was about eight years old at the time living in the beach cities at them time watching the chaos unfold on the TV. Everyone was dumb enough to pretend nothing was happening until they were literally in flames. Doesn't matter if the TV was showing the strip mall two blocks away, Boomers had an untouchable attitude until the bitter end.

Now consider how much more crowded and how many more foreigners and dependents are in LA now. Traffic is 20-30x worse than it was and people are in an even deeper state of denial. And the Dems want to disarm everyone.

Me and three others drove down Madison on Chicago's west side to survey the damage after the 1967 riots. We chose that day because it looked like the riot was finally over. Too bad I did not bring a camera. More than half of the building on that street were burned out. This was roughly 2 to 3 miles south of my neighborhood. Word of warning if you are visiting Chicago. Do not walk thru those areas during daytime and if you drive be wary especially after dark.

These continued stimulus checks and unemployment extensions amount to a nationwide resupply for any of the organized communist proles.

Firearms and Ammunition are plentiful today if somewhat marked up, body armor is cheap as can be with lead times under 1 month.

If the media bosses and all intend to whip up more crisis amidst the deteriorating global economic situation, the people tasked with creating chaos will be well equipped and coordinated this year.

"When I went out and sat in the living room and watched some more television, I got one consistent fact from the news ... apparently the police were nowhere to be found, 911 was not answering and the government had completely abdicated it's responsibility to keep order. The people on the news kept saying something about the police waiting for the national guard to arrive. It took a really long time to sink in before I understood what they were saying. The police had camped out in their stations and were not coming out. You were completely on your own."

"The rabid leftist across the street, a guy with a little goatee like Trotsky and an earring, came over and offered me a blank check if I would loan him my .22 pistol for the duration of the riots. He said his girlfriend was so scared she had been unable to sleep and he wanted it to give her a feeling of security. About two weeks beforehand, this guy had given me a long smug lecture about the evils of guns in private hands. I gave him the cold shoulder and told him to go up the street to the gunshop if he needed a gun. He said, "They've got a ninety day waiting period! I already tried!" I told him "You're s**t out of luck, then, I guess. Can you even appreciate the irony? That is called being hoisted by your own petard." It was true. The guy didn't appreciate the irony. He was a creature of emotion and now felt fear, maybe for the first time in his pathetic life. Ah, the utter blindness to self-knowledge of the liberal mind."

For things to really change, this scenario needs to repeat in America about 20 million times. Liberals need to become scared, try to get armed too late, and run into their own legislation. A .22 ! Haha good plan buddy. Shame what happens to this guy at the end of the story. I guess he needed that .22 after all.

Good friend of mine was in a black area during the riots, working on a safety line installation for a construction site and (of course) staying in the cheapest nearby motel he could find. The black motel owner warned him to not leave his room and even got him beers. I guess the liquor store in question didn't make it longer than one night. But my friend did survive due to the kindness of strangers - or the kindness of businessmen. The owner may have figured, that violence happening on his property would accelerate to fire.

Looking back it's real easy to see why O.J. Simpson was aquitted. I don't think much of a spark is required at any time. And as the author notes, this trigger point only gets closer with demographic change. I hope Australia's Somali teen problem is not near his home, or he basically went to a lot of trouble for nothing.

I was working in the Hollywood hills. Driving there from the east. The job site was overlooking the LA basin. Fires were everywhere out there. All of us working on that job were carrying guns. Despite the fact that is very illegal in California. But there were no police anywhere to be seen. The law was not a big concern, nor would it be of any help. Scary times I don't want to see it again. But that riot while it bigger, it was not worse than the Watts riots. Which would have killed my father (truck Driver) if he had not broken California's gun laws. He shot and killed the man trying to hijack his truck and kill him while doing it. The joy of a race riot is that you were probably born wearing the wrong uniform and they will kill you for it. I moved and raised my family surrounded by cows and not people who hate them.

I have serious doubts that this story is true. First, the streets he names in his account don't line up. Cell phones at that time were not widely available, "twisting the choke" on a Remington 870? I don't think so, not without a choke tube wrench. And what exactly is a .203? and there has never been a Walmart Super Store anywhere near Sunset Blvd in the area he describes. Still, an entertaining read and I'm sure there's more than a few grains of truth in the tale, plus some important lessons to be learned.

Blogger Zundfolge March 14, 2021 1:18 PM

The simple truth is that when the excrement hits the air mover, EVERYONE is a "racist" (which only makes sense from an evolutionary perspective ... protect your own blood line first).

What is dumb is that white people decided to make racism into a greater evil than it is. Sure in times or peace and plenty you shouldn't be rude to people because of their race, but you must realize that in hard times everyone is going to join up with people "that look like themselves". So in times of peace and plenty you're better off finding a place to live where "your kind" isn't outnumbered just in case the hard times come.

What is doubleplus worse now is that the current PC dogma is openly anti-white so when hard times come, non-whites are going to be more vicious than they would otherwise be against whites (and most white folk aren't prepared for it).

Blogger liberranter March 14, 2021 1:19 PM

Chauvin getting off is an opportunity for mayhem

I am almost certain that TPTB will exert irresistible pressure to ensure that Chauvin is convicted, whether or not the evidence against him presented at trial leads the jury to a "guilty" verdict. The mob is thirsting for his blood, and they will obliterate no only Minneapolis, but places far flung if they are denied their feed. An acquittal of Chauvin will lead to riots that will make the Rodney King riots of '92 look like toddler tantrums by comparison.

Blogger JayD March 14, 2021 1:21 PM

I think this account is either some truth woven in with lots of embellishment or it is complete fiction.

You are a big security guard who is looking to scare people off rather than shoot them. Why would you be insane enough to leave your alleged Desert Eagle at home? There are some absolute alpha chad crushers out there who can legitimately use that beast, but for most people the main reason to even OWN one is to terrify people. Not to mention for most of the 90s and the Zeros that gun was THE Larper gun on the internet. For every legit owner there had to be at least 1000 twig-wrists who had stories about how they used DEs to stop robberies and rapes or murder targets at gun ranges and in backyards. That’s a red flag.

Second red flag is he goes to a store where the clerk sounds more like a quest npc in a video game than an actual human. He’s inexplicably at work that day, and if he is at work, he’s not running off when 4 people barge in. He’s just hanging around in the hope someone walks in so he can call them over to give them a ‘clear the basement of rats in exchange for groceries’ side-mission. Even the fact that when he hears someone else come in he just greets them the way an NPC would because he is programmed to know who is the PC. He doesn’t assume the guy is another looter.

These events are possible. But we are talking about thin odds for just one let alone all of them.

Blogger Linda Fox March 14, 2021 1:25 PM

It may be telling that the latest cop trial is in the near vicinity of a major city, one that has a large contingent of Lefties. One thing that hampered some of the previous riots connected to "police/security abuses" was that they were located in cities that required importing protesters to the scene - Charlottesville, Sanford, Ferguson.

But, this was a trial that was aggressively sought - the city was filled with Leftists with cameras, flocking to the site of potential incidents. Chauvin did nothing particularly bad, but he was caught on video in a city that was perfect, from the Leftist standpoint.
1) A major city, with Leftist resources - people, universities, media.
2) Multiple videos shot - could pick and choose for the most damaging ones to be shown in court - and, since the prosecution always goes first, that means the the videos would be 'seared' into the jurors' brains, making it very difficult to dislodge the confirmed impressions.
3) Riots to follow - guarantee it - no matter what the outcome. Followed by sympathy riots in other cities.

Tex Arcane writes in a hyperbolic style, but he does not fabricate, and has been vindicated before on details his detractors confidently claimed were fiction, such as the homoeroticism of a video game company he once worked for.

I doubt his Gerber fastball is 100 mph, and I question the quantity he puked in front of the nigger arson trio, to give an idea of where his stylistic exaggerations occur. Surely some dialogue is cleaned up, and some metaphors are clearly over the top. None of that is dishonesty unless the reader is stupid; it's merely evocative.

Of course, stupid people tend to be cynical since otherwise they'd be constantly ripped off, so they are quick to take such exaggerations as proof of dishonesty. But who cares?

I live in Vancouver, just across the river from Portland. Yes, there are riots in Portland. But they are "gentile" affairs' compared to, say, St Louis. Of course, we're going to have riots this summer. But the ones' in Portland will not be that big of deal. The main problem with downtown Portland is not the riots and protest, but the huge encampments of homeless people. This has been ongoing since around 2015 or so. They basically took over the streets during the shutdown spring of last year.

I would not want to be anywhere near places like Chicago or St. Louis this summer. I think the riots this summer will make last summer look like a picnic.

I was landed in middle of our town's riots this last summer. Front desk clerk said to stay in room. Other clerks shared food. Front desk would call rooms, to tell people to stay in room when rioters running through halls. They moved people up to second and third story rooms when bricks started getting thrown in windows. The front desk clerk was used to working with a human zoo, in multiple languages, obvious criminals, just trying to run the place. This was more, and worse.

These were, in general, sketchy people, terrified by the rioters. These were, in general, blacks and Hispanics, not necessarily speaking English.

I don't know who the rioters were, but it isn't the usual lower, criminal class. The criminals were calling the police, testifying, describing the rioters.

As much as it resembles bad fiction of the type I could write I still find much of it believable. The gun stuff is just goober level knowledge, not everyone is as smart or as interested in firearms as us, most people just want guns to make noise with or look cool. The face offs with rioters I have heard others quote the same type of story, even looters don't want to die for a piece of consumer trash.

I lived in North Long Beach with a buddy for 4 months in the summer of 86, nice apartment building but since we were poor our entertainment consisted of sitting on the patio, eating watermelon and drinking cheap beer and listening to the gun shots all night long. I later saw a map which showed that hood having burnt down during what my black co-workers called "The Rebellion."

I know a casual aquaintence who lives near Minneapolis, not really a political but he says it has become a shithole. I really don't know about Minneapolis but I do know Chauvin is toast unless the D-party wants the hugest riots ever, which is a possibility.

I live about 1 hours drive north of Kenosha.

I have been prepping for years.

The events this past August haven’t dissuaded me from that plan. Or continuing to PT. And continuing to build relationships on the volunteer FD that I also joined.

Since the beginning of the year I’ve added formal training for gun fighting. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m getting better. It’s a last resort for my and my family. But there are people in the family that cannot protect themselves. And there are others on the block with gun fighting skills; I have no illusions about what it would be to have to go it alone, likely just to die quickly.

There are a pile of books and resources that can tell you how to prep. If you aren’t following them you should be. They will all tell you of the value of finding a group and as we continue to Balkanize there is no reason not to (unless you are the dude literally alone in the middle of Alaska).

Not so much as a how to guide but a thinking guide I recommend both books by Clay Martin: Concrete Jungle and Prairie Fire. It’s not over the top well written prose but I have been doing this for years and got a few solid ideas out of them to continue to harden my house and be more resilient. He probably did not 'grab it,' but he probably wanted to own it, so 18 years later he imagined he grabbed it, when actually he had a 22 lr pistol or a 38.

This was an 'embellished story' with more truth to it, then the people suggesting it's a complete LARP. His telling of the wife's reactions in the story strike me as totally honest. @32 "For things to really change, this scenario needs to repeat in America about 20 million times. Liberals need to become scared, try to get armed too late, and run into their own legislation."

I'm sorry, have you MISSED this past year?

Estimated range for 5-7 MILLION first-time gun buyers. We've been laughing about the gunstore owner who sold a handgun to a newbie, and then said "come back in ten days to pick it up" -- and to the customer whining and pleading and offering to pay MORE to get it now, the owner asked:
"Did you vote for gun control?"
"Well, yes."
"Ten days is the gun control YOU voted for!"

(And then more schadenfreude laughter when "the state" CLOSED the stores over the chinkypox before the ten days was up.)

This has been happening about daily for at least the last six months or more. New gun buyers are discovering that you cannot just run out and 'buy one and take it home' -- AND that the stores have no stock left pretty quick.

The arsonists had destroyed an entire city and brought it to it's knees with empty beer bottles and a few dollars worth of lamp oil available anywhere. Probably less than thirty human beings had ravaged the city of Los Angeles worse than a nuclear weapon might have for less money than what most people spend on lunch. They simply ran away in the time it took for police to respond."

This is the true face of colonization. Events like these are terror waves that force people into dissimilar communities where they repeat the process. It comes as no surprise that the author goes on to leave LA for an entirely new country where he reports, without self-awareness, that the same process is happening again. There is never any talk about the necessity and logistics of taking territory back, or even addressing the broader nature of how these terror waves function in historic contexts. I have no evidence, but I strongly believe that this is the true reason for Mexican cartel violence going back to the Aztec Empire, the reason why the English did so little to mitigate the Irish potato famine, and to a degree, the terror campaigns in Europe that spread the German diaspora around the world. Thank you for sharing this Vox. It was a good read.

Blogger Unknown March 14, 2021 3:16 PM

I was military police then, but not in Cali at the time. There were quite a number of reports published about the military response.

Part of the problem was outdated 'arming levels' from the 1970s, the guard MPs were only supposed to fully load their rifles if their bayonets were attached. So quickly the guard stopped obeying stupid orders, and when the actives showed up and the active general started acting like a big dog by ordering unloaded rifles, it got a little ugly internally.

I heard it got sporty on the streets but when the guard shot a few people, including a car that tried a drive by, the word got out quickly and people started backing down when they saw the hummers. Famously the Marines were sent out to provide muscle for police, and ended up dumping mags into a house. That helped, too.

For a number of years after that MP rifles had the metal blocker clips attached at the butt stocks, where the sling point is on the M4s. The idea was to prevent MPs in the riots, when they started again and spread, from flipping the selector lever to burst.

I purchased ARs for my wife and I years ago, as well as the civilian copy of the Beretta M9, because I suspect ammo quantity is important in the middle of the night encounters when the rule of law disappears.

That said, the show trial in Wisconsin has me wondering if a 22 shot discretely through a partly open widow or other loophole doesn't make more sense.

I agree that the Chauvin trial is fixed. I do not agree that it is to railroad Chauvin into prison. They're going to sandbag this trial and get him off.

Why?

Because the MN governor is embattled over attacks regarding his abuse of emergency powers and his incompetent response to the Wu Flu, so he needs political cover for the crushing of this resistance to his rule. Further, the MN AG is a known Antifa asset and would likewise need political cover for the professional rioters that already rolled back into town.

They need the BLM/Antifa rioting, and an acquittal guarantees it. It's happening.

Once the riots destroy their designated targets, the Governor will put it down and in the process destroy his opposition. The professionals will get tipped off and dip out of town before the hammer falls on the useful idiots, and those fools get railroaded into a state prison cell- again, because it's a better outcome for the anarcho-tyranny is they have assets in the prison system.

It's going to suck for those living in and near Minneapolis.

No such thing as a .203 rifle. And he isn't talking about an ak 203 rifle. The ak 203 was developed off the ak 47 around 2010. It was originally known as the ak 103m before being renamed the ak 203 in 2018.
And anybody who knows anything knows ".203" is a (mythical/non-existent) caliber. The m4 is a 5.56 caliber. (In millimeters.) Basically the same as .223 caliber. (Meaning it's .223 inches across.) Like the m14 was a .308 caliber (inches across) or 7.62 caliber (millimeters across.)
Fun story, about as real as the current apocalypse book I'm reading called "Ashes of the Unspeakable." Except that work of fiction gets the gun details right.

Take a look at what's happening on "Spring Break" in Florida right now.

There are HUGE frenzied mobs of maskless people running around, at this very moment. A big chunk of them are black and Latino, but some of them are white. A lot of them are ZOOMERS.

Watching videos of this stuff has confirmed to me what I've already suspected. The Prometheans will be unable to control what's coming. They just can't do it. Even if this is what these Luciferian faggots specifically planned for ("order through chaos"), they still won't be able to control this thing they've created.

They might be able to brainwash and terrorize the selfish idiot Boomers, and even pull similar stunts on some 35-year-old neo-Marxist SJW Twitterati Millennials.....but they can no longer frighten 21-year-old Zoomers, who are growing up with this fake COVID-cult crap. The Zoomers are too young to be afraid, or to care.

And if the Zoomers don't care about the fake pandemic, then no generation after them in America will care ever again either. There's already no real rule of law anyway, but soon everyone outside of a small upper-middle class white bubble is going to know it.

The longer the architects of the mask and vax cults ramp up their lies, and the longer the "social distancing" and lockdowns continue.....the more civil collapse is guaranteed.

The uptight SJWs haven't figured this out yet, but "Covid Fatigue" is going to become a very real thing at some point.

Meanwhile, the highest-ranking Prometheans who are pushing "Agenda 21" are mostly old and withered Boomers and Silents, and despite their decades of desperate social engineering and planning and study and effort that they use to obsessively control and understand the minds of the young, I see that they don't really understand the young as well as they'd like to think.

And they've made America so "diverse" and "multicultural" and so Internet-obsessed now, that even (((they))) don't fully understand this new thing that they've created. They really don't know. To put this another way, I actually think (((they))) made America too "multicultural" and Internet-savvy for them to control, or even understand. They've created an uncontrollable golem.

Another side-effect of all this is that I don't think whites are going to cuck much longer. After all, there were A LOT of new gun-buyers last year.

So, yeah. It's gonna be an interesting next 10 years.

All these factors and more will either increase the pressure or decrease it.

Acquit? The jury is going to be carefully pre-selected, and they will FOLLOW ORDERS to acquit. This will be a show trial only. We're watching a movie, remember?

Furthermore, what makes you think "Derek Chauvin" is even the man's real name? He's a crisis actor, just like "George Floyd".

After "Chauvin" is acquitted, the paid agitators of Antifa/BLM will go where their CIA handlers tell them to go, and do what they're told to do.

An interesting thought is that most SJWs are absolutely oblivious to how much BLM and blacks are HATED by Latinos. Trying to explain this to SJWs is a complete waste of time, because their brains malfunction if you try to articulate it...and turn right off.

Any "race war" is much more likely to happen between Latinos and blacks first, before anything else. Latinos (especially Mexicans) do NOT like the blackface wing of Antifa (BLM). Not one bit.

NedFlinders@138:

What's pathetic is that you're so eager to stroke your ego over knowing ammo calibers that you expose your incompetence at evaluating testimonial credibility, a skill so crucial for navigating life that its absence is a sign of general stupidity.

Human memory is lossy and reconstructive. Ammo caliber is exactly the sort of detail that gets reconstructed. For example, I hunted pigs with a .306 rifle 20 years ago. But when I read Tex's post, I misremembered the caliber as .302. And now that I look it up, I learn for the first time the rifle is written .30-06 and the ammo is 7.62. Since I emigrated to a country that bans guns, I never learned ammo calibers.

Someone who is lying looks up details in order to make his account credible. Someone who is remembering makes human mistakes such as fudging a decimal to produce a nonexistent caliber. Tex probably meant he had a .223 rifle, not a .203. Since that is a varmint hunting round, it underlines his cluelessness, a theme he emphasized.

There was nothing in that story that was credible. Not one thing.

Did you find the writer putting his wife to making caltrops out of 10d nails to be credible? Yes, it can be done. But not without using at least a vise and quite a bit of muscle. I suppose he could have had a supply of JB Weld. Maybe they pushed the nails through fruit or tennis balls. Still not a credible claim.

"Desert Eagle" This alone destroyed any credibility he had, unless he was in a 1990's action movie or bad apocalypse porn fiction.

Another side-effect of all this is that I don't think whites are going to cuck much longer. After all, there were A LOT of new gun-buyers last year.

Let me put it this way: I was at the point where I was thinking that Trump's talked-about-but-left-undone mass-deportations would be good, but now I think we should dissolve the border-patrol and use the Army with orders to kill any illegals who will not leave... > Did you find the writer putting his wife to making caltrops out of 10d nails to be credible?

They were buckets of nails, no mention of 10d. And the caltrops were made with wire. Depending on the size of the nails and the quality of the caltrops, the wife's assembly might not have even included the step of bending the nails. They didn't stop a vehicle, they pierced one nigger's shoe sole.

Hello MPAI. His credibility as a gun connoisseur? The whole point was that he was clueless about everything.

His credibility as a 1997 LA security guard who saw a 1990's action movie and bought a Desert Eagle? How is that difficult to believe AT ALL?

In which Leo Littlebrain demonstrates he is clueless!

And now that I look it up, I learn for the first time the rifle is written .30-06 and the ammo is 7.62.

30-06 and 7.62 are two different rounds (or three different rounds), with the same 30 caliber diameter for the bullets but with different bullets.

Look it up on Infogalactic. There is 7.62x51, the NATO round before the 5.56, and 7.62x39, the Russian round in the AK-47.

Ammo refers to the whole cartridge, not just the bullet!

308 is very close to 7.62x51, with only the chamber pressures being different (.308 higher) and slight details in the cartridges.

From elsewhere:

.308 and 7.62 are pretty much interchangeable in barrels with head space between 1.630” and 1.640”

There, the 7.62 is a reference to 7.62x51, not 7.62x39 or 30-06.

At first I thought he meant .223, and it was just a typo, but he continued with the .203 bit throughout. That and him facing down four Messicans in the store and throwing them all out single-handedly and unarmed. And then his little street-sweeper routine, scaring off 50 beaners with just his trusty shotgun (with polychoke outta the box!). And not one of them were armed. Also, where did all the mobile phones and laptops come from in '92? I appreciate the tone, and it is a good call to action wrt to prepping. But gimme a break

Blogger Texas Arcane March 15, 2021 9:05 PM

I know there is a whole generation of people now on the internet who do this almost like it a professional calling. Sneering at stuff and suggesting everybody is a liar. That's a whole world away from me, I don't share in any of that culture or character or behavior. In fact, the only thing that humans can really say to me that annoys me is to call me a liar. You're very lucky that I had the energy to write this account at the time.

I wrote this truthful account of the L.A. Riots. We lived on Martel, you can find it on a map.

The account was originally written for Australian Survivalist after a challenge by the forum to relate a story where you were in a real SHTF situation. I wrote it over three nights and because I was writing for people I knew well and liked I made every effort to make it as truthful as I could remember. Where I couldn't remember a detail, like the name of that gigantic store they pulled the front gates off, I just said "Walmarts" because I couldn't remember the name. My main goal was not to make friends and influence people but rather to record some of my recollections that might be useful to other people on the forum. I didn't charge for the story, didn't try to make money off it or even expect any praise for it. I wanted to record the things I remembered because I knew some of them directly contradicted the accounts on television that the mass public never heard about.

Otherwise I have been over the account several times checking it for veracity and it is amazingly truthful, poured out in a particularly naked and unpolished way that was not designed to be flattering to me or anybody else. It wasn't a mobile phone, it was a pager in those days. Yes, the superstore was looted for all kind of laptop computers and the looters were examining their scores on the hoods of cars.

Even after serving in the military for five years and one war I still am not much of an expert on guns. If that sounds like a sorry lineup I had purchased its because it was mostly asking for advice in gun shops months earlier and them selling me stock I think they wanted to get rid of. I only found out much later what crap the Desert Eagle was and how it was mainly foisted off onto rubes who didn't know any better. To this day I can disassemble, repair and maintain both an M-16 and an M203 grenade launcher but often have trouble remembering the caliber for the M-16 ... I told somebody 7.62 the other day before I remembered it was actually 5.56 mm and then all those labels on all those ammo cans over the years came back to me. Like my social security number, I have to pause nowadays sometimes to recall it.

I am glad I wrote it, poring over it again it was not pointless on my part. The observation that a couple guys on foot with bottles of accelerant can do as much damage in a few minutes as a tactical nuclear weapon is an important observation - possibly the most important thing of all to take away from it. It's true and it reveals the real nature of civilization which is very, very fragile at all times.

Yeah I tried to sneak that by you when I admitted I didn't know how to write .30-06, but you caught right on, you super sleuth.

> 30-06 and 7.62 are two different rounds (or three different rounds), with the same 30 caliber diameter for the bullets but with different bullets.

Akhshually

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.30-06_Springfield

> The .30-06 Springfield cartridge (pronounced "thirty-aught-six" IPA: [ˈθɝɾi ɔt sɪks]), 7.62×63mm in metric notation

The only reason I correctly described .30-06 ammo as "7.62" was to translate a weird non-decimal into something relatable, the standard AK-47 round, allowing me a reference point for GSW trauma on anatomically similar humans and pigs.

Maybe too much time at the gun range causes TBI like football concussions, reducing IQ over time.

Blogger Thraex March 16, 2021 12:50 AM

Well, I lived in LA at the time of the riots. And I was carrying a 9mm Sig-Sauer. And if I wasn't a gun guy and I was writing about it, I wouldn't make up a random nonexistent caliber. If this did happen, God knows what caliber you jammed into your rifle and pistol, "survivalist." Good thing you never pulled the trigger and blew your piece up by stuffing it with the wrong ammo. (Really, if you play with guns the right caliber is something you are supposed to know.) Not universal, of course, the internet is full of videos of guys blowing themselves away with basic firearm mistakes.

Blogger Angantyr March 16, 2021 12:53 AM

@Texas Arcane

Thanks for your input! So you had a Desert Eagle? A friend of mine back in the 90's got one as well, and I'm pretty sure it was in .50 AE. He let me shoot it. My recollection when I pulled the trigger was of a tremendous fireball and very loud *boom* and noting that after the shot was fired the recoil had pushed the weapon straight up and only a few inches from my face. I decided it was too macho an arm for me, and I politely handed it back to my friend... though honestly I might not wholly object to one in .357, given the capacity and the weight minimizing the recoil. I still think I'm better off with a 1911 or a Glock, though.

I was actually stationed out here just days before the riots started. Some buildings went up in flames next to Ft. Mac, but I heard afterwards that the owner lit the fires to collect on insurance using the riots as a cover. I remember talking to friends back home and joking about taking my Tercel and backing it up to one of these stores being looted and pick up a free TV, to which one of them replied "You're a tall white boy - you stand out." Wise man, that.

@159. Texas Arcane

God was kind to you and you learned the lesson. Thank you for sharing.

It's very different to my experience of civil disorder in London. I inadvertently blundered into the Peckham riots in London a few years back.
It was very surreal. I'd just driven down to Rye Lane on a whim to get some KFC. As I walked from the car, I could sense the excitement and there were crowds of people, particularly of teenage black girls giggling and semi fearful. I wandered past to the main street and, as I crossed it, I became aware of why they were staring and pointing towards me. On my right, at the end of the main street was a very large crowd of police in riot gear, complete with shields, in a line blocking the end of the street.
I continued over the street until it was clear that KFC was closed, then turned around and started walking back. No one got in my way or said anything, they just watched whilst the girls giggled. As I walked up the side road back to my car, I saw several young black guys running across the car park, then the police charged past the end of the road I was on up the main street, scattering the girls. Several of the crowd were watching/listening to the media coverage and I overheard them saying that the police had road blocks locking down the roads into and out of Peckham. I still reckoned I could get home as I know my way around the area.
The only hint of trouble for me that I experienced was one of the masked black rioters stopped and looked at me with anger in his eyes. I looked him straight in the eyes and smiled at him. That was enough for him to rethink his malice towards me and he continued on his way.
I at no point felt in any danger, possibly because I was a local and being very recognisable as a blue eyed white guy with long blond hair, but the whole atmosphere was fairly good natured.
I made it home without any trouble using the small back roads to avoid the numerous road blocks. I then turned on the TV news to see what was happening.
My assessment though is the same as yours, it could very easily and quickly have snowballed into an incredibly dangerous and destructive uprising. Thankfully the looting mob stopped about a quarter mile from my home.
The atmosphere in London has changed quite a bit and I think next time it's going to be catastrophic. Thankfully a large number of woketards with way more money than sense have moved into our area to experience the cultural enrichment. They paid me ten times what I paid for my house allowing me and my family to move to rural Scotland (98% white racist according to the Scottish government) so much safer for the wife and kids.
God is indeed kind to those who love Him.

Any specifics? The whole account was baloney? I didn't actually live in L.A. at the time? I'm not even from North America - I think one poster above said that.

I've got stories to tell you so incredible and so marvelous that your head would explode. They're all true, every single one of them. In each instance, the way I tell the story makes it sound magical and unbelievable.

I wasn't really in the military? I didn't really live underground beneath Union Station in New York for three years? I was Senior Editor at Ahoy Magazine, then Street News, I didn't work as a computer programmer in Harlem and Brooklyn? I didn't really part a sea of rats underground with nothing but leftover bagels? I didn't freehand climb Bertszgarten in Germany during a lightning storm and took a shortcut through Adolph Hitler's Eagle's Nest or what was left of it? I am not in the Congressional Record in a discussion between Professor Henry Taylor and Dianne Feinstein over child prodigies where Taylor declared me one of the brightest kids he had ever examined in the history of intelligence metrics at University of Virginia?

Make up your mind. I could go on all day and night and never run out of this stuff. If I made it all up I also made up all Library of Congress documentation, I made up ten thousand witnesses in New York including Lee Stringer and Kurt Vonnegut, I made up a dozen direct references to me by name in all kinds of literature printed in New York at the time including newspapers and even forged my military records. is all that made up too?

I challenge to be specific and I will find hard printed/photographic/evidence to that effect. Lately some guy was saying I never worked as an assistant at NBC television for a couple of months. Then I showed him a picture of me on set at SNL with Vanilla Ice taken in 1991. I have also appeared on the Donahue show, Good Morning America and got into a fistfight with Denholm Elliot on a bus to New Jersey.

I can keep this up all day. It's all true.

I am like Forest Gump's evil twin brother, Lumpy Gump. It's all history and I have told nothing but the truth about it.

Blogger flyingtiger March 16, 2021 11:36 AM

Am I the only person who wonders how Pia Zadora escaped from the mob? This is a nice story, even though I question a few details. I cannot remember everything I did in 1992. I was discussing how we will handle the floyd George riots. They will happen no matter what the verdict is. It will be bad. In 92' the blacks did not riot. Since then our local government has been importing Hispanics. They will riot. The question is when the riots break out, should you hunker down or flee. Speculative fiction is a fine way to highlight what might happen. But it makes you look like a wanker to make yourself the Marty Stu of your story and claim it's all true. U.S. Army MOS13E 5 years 1981-1985 and 1990-1991. That's Fire Direction Control.

If you really do have access to my military records (lots of people do) then you will see I placed 23rd in the U.S. Military Europe Marathon in 1981, Made Soldier of the Quarter twice in 1982 at Baumholder. At Fort Riley I won the All-Army Ironman in 1985 and two months later placed #1 in the Field Artillery Trials for both manual and computer assisted artillery command. I maxed out my Physical Fitness test for 46 months out of 48 tests earning a Commendation Medal. In the '85 Ironman I did 210 situps in two minutes, 314 pushups in same. In 1984 I won the grueling Fort Rilery Mud Race (obstacle course) finishing 8 minutes ahead of the 2nd place out of a field of 400 (?) thereabouts.
I was cover on the Stars and Stripes newspaper 3 times, once in Europe at Baumholder and twice at Fort Riley. On the front cover of my last appearance in S&S they printed the word SUPERHUMAN in bold black letters beneath the picture of me winning the Ironman. My other appearance in S&S features me climbing to the top of the rappelling tower in 26 seconds using only my hands and the photo is of me ringing the cowbell at the top. I was offered an officers commission twice by full bird colonels who were acting on the prompting of a two star brigadier general and it was hinted to me I might be qualified for one of the very rare slots available for enlisted me at West Point if I did well enough at OCS. Turned it all down. I had met too many graduates of West Point. I was delighted recently when I saw all of them forced to walk around in high heels, confirmed my suspicions about West Point.

Ah, so it's the envious incredulity of a liar that another could be courageous and effective, driving swarths before him, despite not paying his dues at the only font of masculine legitimacy, the gun range. Perhaps, since you are boring, you also dislike the idea that someone could be both entertaining and honest. I wonder whether the continual shock and vibration also accumulates testicular damage?

As James Lafond's life proves, a security guard need not be armed to drive off swarths, who lack morale and cohesion, preferring to prey on the plentiful psychologically weak. The fatherless fear the fearless. Compared to Lafond, Tex's performance was sloppy verbose and lacking killing intent, barely adequate despite his firearm.

There were no gun howlers. A knowledge worker and genius alike fill their head with novel info, forgetting irrelevancies such as the caliber of a cheap rifle owned seven years ago. JC Wright can't remember a phone number. Shotgun poly-chokes have been around for 80 years. A Desert Eagle is a plausible '90s weapon purchase by an gun amateur and power lifter with retard strength.

My theory that excessive gunfire causes neurodegeneration has scientific backing already:

But if you're still too short of figure it out, I specifically asked Texas about his military career because he explained his errors on firearms by saying that although he was in the military, he never learned stuff like ammo calibers. I wanted to know years and MOS to see what job he had. Fire Direction - it's plausible that MOS in the craptastic early 80's would get minimal enough rifle training that he'd never remember what the ammo caliber the M16 took was.

But mostly I just wanted to confirm he was a Boomer.

Jack Amok lies a lot:

> I specifically asked Texas about his military career because he explained his errors on firearms by saying that although he was in the military, he never learned stuff like ammo calibers.

What Tex wrote:

> To this day I can disassemble, repair and maintain both an M-16 and an M203 grenade launcher but often have trouble remembering the caliber for the M-16 ... I told somebody 7.62 the other day before I remembered it was actually 5.56 mm and then all those labels on all those ammo cans over the years came back to me. Like my social security number, I have to pause nowadays sometimes to recall it.

With that amount of creative revision, Jack can justify anything he wants, which must be how he lives with himself.

Leo, your recalibration is backsliding. Stop and re-assess.

@JackAmok

I fired the M60 whenever I got an excuse. I used to sign up for gunnery waiting list every week. Loved that weapon. It was 7.62 and the M-16 was 5.56mm. Thirty years later, sometimes mix up one with the other. A couple times lately I cannot remember the names of people I served with, then the other day in a flood I was able to recall all the officers names I ever served under and their ranks plus faces. Wait thirty years on anything you will discover days you can't recall certain things until you sit down and coax your memory.

The biggest jerk I ever met in the military in my own squad was the head of counterterrorism in the FBI when 9/11. Looks to me like this guy got paid to take a dive and if you knew him that sounds about right. Another one of my interesting brushes with history. Dead ringer for Chevy Chase and a major factor in me turning down West Point. I would think to myself, no way would I spend another 4 years with people like that. Not honorable people at all and nobody there I respected.

> recalibrate... reassess.

Authority minus character -- you're Army strong!

"THEY'RE COMING!!!"

Yet almost every white still refuses to admit to themselves, let alone the world, who "they" are, and, even more importantly, "who" instigated them in the first place.
