Texas gunfight

This is an educational account of a genuine gun fight in Texas.

There had been numerous death threats issued about the event.  A competent security plan had been created. Greg says he was put at the back entrance because it was viewed as the “easy job”. He joked the idea was to “give the old guy the easy job”.  He had a list of the people authorized to use the entrance, and codes they were required to know in order to use it.  It was a shortlist.

Pam Geller and Gert Wilder had been passed through. A snafu with a caterer had been cleared up.  Gert Wilder and his security team had left.

Just before 7 p.m. in the evening, Greg went to the restroom. A pair of roving armed security took his place. He took his duty car. He returned to his post. The roving team left.

About five minutes after he returned, a small black car pulls up, and stops, abruptly, facing away from the entrance.

Greg’s hair starts standing up on the back of his neck. His “police sense” starts going off. Something is not “right”. The car has out-of-state plates, from Arizona. Immediately, both doors to the car open at the same time.

As the passenger exits, Greg sees the muzzle of a rifle moving in a sweeping motion. Elton Simpson, the passenger, has an AK-47 semi-automatic clone and brings it into play. As Greg sees the rifle moving, the synapses click, the trained and practiced instincts kick in.

This is real. He needs to engage. Now! The attackers are 35 feet away. There is no cover.

Gregory Stevens draws his Glock 21 .45 from his retention holster. Elton Simpson brings up the AK clone. The shots exchanged are so close as to be simultaneous. Greg cannot determine who shot first. All three combatants are wearing soft body armor.

Simpson misses. One of the 230 grain Gold Dot hollow points Greg is launching from the Glock, probably the first, smashes Simpson’s femur. More rounds follow as Simpson falls.  He goes down, dropping the rifle.

The driver,  Nadir Soofi, is firing at Greg with a semi-automatic rifle. The rifle is equipped with a 100 round magazine. The rifle was either a detachable magazine-fed SKS or an AK clone. (The terrorists had three rifles with them) Greg shifts his aim to Soofi. He fires several rounds from his Glock. Soofi goes down, dropping the rifle.

During the firing, Greg has taken a step or two closer, utilizing a flash sight picture, and advancing on the terrorists.

Greg directs his attention back to Simpson.  Simpson is still moving, still a threat. Greg fires more rounds. Simpson goes down again.  Greg directs his attention back to Soofi, who is attempting to get up. Greg fires the last of the rounds in the Glock. Soofi goes down, hard. Greg does a tactical reload, very fast.

Greg has fired 14 rounds of 230 grain Speer Gold Dot ammunition from his Glock. Simpson and Sufi have fired about 35 rounds of 7.62 x 39.  Those rounds were easily capable of penetrating Greg Stevens’ soft body armor.

The entire action took 10 seconds or less.

However, for the punchline, read the whole thing there. It makes it very clear that virtually nothing is as it seems anymore.

[UCE-1, the undercover FBI agent] was stopped by Garland Police in a felony stop, at gunpoint. UCE-1 shouted he was FBI.

That ought to merit summary execution today. Should have even back then, for that matter.

Many people are waking up to the fact that many of our Federal Agencies are not the good guys. The common thought is that they have changed from the way they were once upon a time. I disagree with this assertion, especially with regards to the FBI. The FBI was always a federalized equivalent to Pinkertons, their job has always been to serve the elite and protect the "system".

I've long wondered why he wasn't carrying a 1911 as it turns out he preferred. Department policy requiring Glocks, with their different grip angle and worse triggers. Which inadvertently resulted in "an angel sitting on [his] shoulder."

Because that round to the femur? Unless he realized they were wearing body armor, that's a very fortunate miss instead of the center of mass he would initially be aiming at.

Blogger Paulito March 21, 2021 1:21 PM

@4 Because the FBI wasn't setting the terrorists up to be arrested. They were aiding and abetting them. It wasn't entrapment, it was complicity.

Blogger Pathfinderlight March 21, 2021 1:24 PM

@Harambe
Entrapment is where as a law enforcement professional, you essentially induce someone to break the law, then arrest that person for the crime you made them commit.

Blogger KingKrawFish March 21, 2021 1:27 PM

Obama's FBI helps terrorists attack a free speech event.

Obama ends up giving the old guy who stopped the terrorist attack a Medal of Valor award.

About the only thing that keeps me from punching my monitor is the thought the FBI probably would have pulled the same crap under Bush I or II or just about any other possible president of the last half dozen decades.

Who is UCE-1?

He is guilty of treason.

Hopefully he will one day face a court willing to convict him of that charge and punish him accordingly.

Blogger boogeyman March 21, 2021 1:31 PM

"Okay I'll ask the stupid question: why is this not "entrapment"?"

Entrapment is when a beat cop or local DA does something shady in order to arrest someone who otherwise would have done nothing wrong. When the director of the FBI and possibly the President does it ... well, have you heard the phrase "too big to fail?"

Blogger Mathias March 21, 2021 1:31 PM

@Harambe,

Because entrapment is when someone who is duty-bound to enforce the law uses his law enforcement powers to induce someone to commit a crime that they would not have committed otherwise, which they then arrest the victim for. Thusly, "Entrapped". The courts have long held that tempting or enticing a criminal to commit a crime that he would have committed anyway, is fair game. There are issues with this, but those issues are not related to the common misunderstanding of the meaning of "Entrapment".

Because it was the FBI. They have a long and well known history of entrapping people into terrorism charges. They are the origins of the well used "fedpost" and "glowie" terms and the question and answer of Q: "How do you spot the FBI informant?" A: "He's the one encouraging the group to do something illegal." used throughout the internet.

For those who don't know, the incident described is Garland, TX in 2015, where two terrorists tried to attack a Muhammad art exhibit put on by Pamela Gellar.

The 1911 is a great pistol but I still will go with my S&W M&P 2.0 with 15 rounds. Havent gone shooting in far too long due to conserving ammo, but this reminds I need to freshen up. After doing all the usual center of mass shooting, I do always do a few headshots just because you never know.

What I have not done nearly enough, is drawing and shooting. The indoor range here does not allow it, nor the public part of an outdoor range further away.

Resolved
1) go burn some ammo, carefully.
2) research the paid annual membership at the outdoor range that gets you access to the tactical side.
3) invest in some actual lessons for me and the 22yo son.

When I see how poorly most random folks going to range actually shoot, I feel pretty good about my skills. However Ive seen some genuinely good shooters to know I am merely reasonably competent at most. But shooting stationary paper is just the start.

If I was told that that was my fellow guard's response to something like this at the time when I was a watch-stander, I would have worn my hands out on the worthless stain after regretting his survival of the fight. And that's if the superior NCOs didn't have their way with him first. Completely unaware, unprepared mentally, and worst of all, faithless.

"As Greg engaged Simpson and Soofi, an undercover FBI agent was traveling with the terrorists in a separate vehicle, approaching the rear entrance where the gunfight happened. The agent and two terrorists had traveled all the way from Arizona, in two vehicles. It was claimed the FBI agent took pictures of the attack, just as it started. It was claimed he participated in intelligence gathering, and in planning the attack, advising the terrorists to wait until the event was ending."

I prefer my Smithfield XD, but have no problem with the .38 super 1911 a friend left me when he died. I can shoot that without much fuss almost as long as the XD. It just needs lube slightly more often. ymmv

But if it's a good 1911, I'd rather have a good shooter have what he prefers. If it clocks down before a second mag finishes, and he's a legit shooter who maintains, it's probably just his time. Or a humbling moment he may make it through somehow. God works in mysterious ways, that I know.

@26 "What I have not done nearly enough, is drawing and shooting. The indoor range here does not allow it, nor the public part of an outdoor range further away."

Have you looked into the 'laser' kits that let you shoot your OWN gun instead of something else? I can't remember the name, but there's a kit available in a variety of calibers that lets you draw and shoot, or shoot from your armchair. It's a 'round' you insert that doesn't move, but when the hammer hits the round, the round 'fires' a laser beam. The company even makes a set of three soda cans that read the laser hit and have a spring-activated tip-over if you hit one. There's some other kind of active target that I don't remember too. Or, you can just shoot the laser.

I vaguely remember the kit was around $100 (not including the cans) -- and with ammo prices today, it's probably cheaper than a range trip!!

If you weren't all rayciss you would know the FugBI didn't stopped ISIS because that would be anti-Semitic, because ISIS was created by Israel and the zionist Obama admin in order to destabilize Syria (including mossad the Assad) and pressure open borders cucked Western Countries into complying with the ziocunts neoclown bullshit under threat of getting attacked by the zionist terrorists from ISIS.

Blogger Chris Mallory March 21, 2021 3:50 PM

Most of the FeeBI "terrorist" arrests since 9/11 have been entrapment. A group of semi retard Muslims who couldn't pour urine from a boot or buy a pair of shoelaces gets contacted by the People's Liberation Front of the Holy Land promising money, explosives, guns, plane tickets if said group of retards will plan to blow up Shumel's Deli. Group takes the money and does a google map search of the deli. Then they get arrested and FeeBI gets to put out a press release about stopping terrorism. Even though they didn't have the brains or ability to carry out the plan on their own.

Same goes for the militias. FeeBI undercover starts coming to meetings and making incriminating statements. FeeBI arrests them all for conspiracy. FeeBI gets a press release.

On the local level entrapment works like this. Say you work at a warehouse. Management at the behest of the local cops puts a pallet of booze, guns, consumer electronics near the back door and leaves the back door unlocked. If you notice this and ON YOUR OWN steal, it is not entrapment. But if a undercover cop or a snitch working for the cops points this out and suggests you steal that is entrapment.

@24 Harambe:

Glock 21's hold more rounds than a 1911

Due to the trigger, and for people who prefer the 1911 grip angle vs. the Glock one, you'll be needing those extra rounds.... Note also the double stack may make the gun awkward to hold for people with smaller hands, the bottom line for all of this is what fits you, that is, ergonomics and thus your ability to shoot well. I would have never brought it up except for the fine article mentioning the officer preferred 1911s but was forced to use a Glock.

and don't require a field strip before every magazine change.

You're either using junk, or not maintaining it properly, which can cause any gun to fail. It does take more money to buy a 1911 that'll be as reliable as a Glock, the polymer frame for example provides great savings with as far as I know no inherent drawbacks.

Blogger greg March 21, 2021 4:15 PM

Would be interesting to ask the officer which gun he now prefers after the glock saved his life. The hi-cap model glock or the the 1911 with much less. The only thing that matters are getting hits. I know that I couldn't even remotely do what he accomplished, killing guys shooting at me with rifles. And I've always wondered how the survivors of mass shootings felt about themselves not having a gun to fight back with. You'd think they would have a new appreciation for a pistol verses a cell phone.

Blogger M. ANTHONY March 21, 2021 4:29 PM

Not a single "terrorist" attack happens in the US, Canada or the UK without their respective top law enforcement being directly involved. This has most likely always been the case.

The big tip is to listen to your instincts. The hero did, got off his first shot at the same time as Bad Guy #1.

WRT practice, I recommend working on making that first hit. There are too many people who simply empty the magazine in the general direction of the target...and it's a target 7 yards away or so. Work on making one perfect shot. And do it at a distance fit for men to shoot at. 25 yards minimum.

August 2018, Taos New Mexico

Dude was caught with dead ritualized child murder corpses, he had plans for school shootings. He was charged but not I believe for any of the murders. FBI came in and bulldozed the compound. James Pilato did some on-the-spot reporting of that because it disappeared from the national headlines within 24 hours.

So there are times that either the FBI or the retards they coerce screw things up. Like the WTC 1993 building, Emad Salem (Egyptian 'counter'-terrorist cop) records his fbi handler saying take away the fake bomb and give the IQ 70 morons the real deal. He got $1M tax payer funding to go away and shut up (besides the 60 minutes piece) but I'd bet someone rubbed him out since. The "organized" Islamic radicals in question couldn't park the van next to the support pillar as instructed, a little too far out of their cognitive abilities. So it didn't come down until 8 years later.

The FBI for that alone should be completely destroyed. Quantico, field offices, foreign desks, everything. Especially after 9/11 when the US went to war for basically the same crime the fbi had organized and farmed out not even a decade before.

How about a double stack 1911?
The only downside to the 1911 is that parts can require fitting. If that fitting is done properly, the 1911 can be an amazing gun. Glocks can be adequate on the cheap.

I have one of those, but rarely use it. What kind of failure of concentration and aim is required to miss with a rifle at 12 yards?

This is normal though for mass shooters. Hundreds of rounds go off and the hit ratio us 10% or less most of the time. They seem to think the weapons themselves make them superman and my bet is they don't even have experience firing the weapons they're using until they're on-scene and utterly shocked by the sound of the weapons' report.

I was kidding about the 1911 vs Glock thing. I just like triggering boomer fuds.

You can use a cheap airsoft laser sight if you want. All you're looking for is getting it on target quickly and not moving the dot too much when you pull the trigger.

I practice point shooting a lot too because I shoot steel challenge and aiming doesn't produce fast times, so you need to get good at instinctively painting the muzzle where you want it. Which is either easy or hard depending on whether the gun points "naturally" for you.

@wahr01
I did not watch the Stevens video, but yes I wondered if they were shooting from the hip, or even if brought to the shoulder, had not trained using the sights much.

It prepares the mind and spirit for football season. Others find great peace in the slaughter of various game animals, mostly deer, but a true hunting artist I work with has sons who headshot groundhogs at 300 yards; it rekaxes them

I like guns and fast cars and perky titties. Because my prostate is still intact and I haven't had a vasectomy.

UCE-1 will...even if the court is in the next world, and the hearing is very brief.

Our FBI.... the co-conspirators to every Islamic terror attack on US soil and they have a lauded Hostage Rescue Team that's never rescued a single hostage!

CLEAR your weapon, then put on your EDC rig, and practice your draw from concealment and dry fire.

Dry fire should vastly outnumber live fire- you can dry fire every day,

No ammo required.

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.

Dry fire practice is essential, as most average shooters develop a flinch from firing that pulls away their aim. The only way to reduce/eliminate that flinch is through extensive dry fire practice to reset muscle memory. I have been through the Front Sight 4 day defensive handgun course twice and they STRONGLY encourage dry fire over live fire as high as a 10:1 ratio. As they argue, there is no such thing as too much dry fire, especially as part of a concealed drawn, present, fire sequence. You should be able to do that in 1.5 seconds from decision to engage until first trigger pull. Most people had reached that level by the end of the class, including my sister and my wife, neither of whom had ever drawn from a holster before the class.

After reading the entire article, the ending does not surprise me. Nothing is at it seems. We have to have eyes and ears to see and hear properly, then we can understand what is happening in this day.

For people who prefer the high capacity and easy reliability of a Glock with the grip angle of the 1911, may I recommend the ZEV OZ9. Get one and put a RMR on it. Quick and easily acquired sight picture.

That ought to merit summary execution today. Should have even back then, for that matter.

Things would clean up a LOT faster if we executed federal agents that are involved in "sting" operations like this… in fact, can anyone make a cognizant argument that this is in fact not rendering aid and comfort to the enemies of the States?

Harambe wrote:Okay I'll ask the stupid question: why is this not "entrapment"? Talking about the rest of the details at the linked URL.
Because if it was the legal system would have to scrutinize the protection they render law-enforcement, and that would be a slippery slope for the doctrine of 'immunity'… I mean we just can't have public officials being held to account, now can we!?
(If you want to feel rage, look into "absolute legal immunity".)

Is the situation with federal malfeasance /corruption/ downright evil, really that bad?

Oh, no… it's much worse.

"can anyone make a cognizant argument that this is in fact not rendering aid and comfort to the enemies of the States?"

Yes. It's not even aiding and abetting enemies of the States. It's being the enemies.

I'm of the impression that this was ordered at a high level.

Read the article. FBI is running an ISIS cell in the US and permitting them to attack republican targets.

Some how this is not surprising, nor is MSM ignoring evidence.

If he fired the 13+1 rounds in his G21 then it was not a "tactical reload"...

Given the latest fbi op in Colorado,
Sundance notices a pattern

The FBI knew in advance the Pulse Nightclub shooter (Omar Mateen) and were tipped off by the local sheriff.
. The FBI knew in advance the San Bernardino Terrorists (Tashfeen Malik).
The FBI knew in advance the Boston Marathon Bombers (the Tsarnaev brothers) tipped off by Russians.
The FBI knew in advance the Garland, Texas, shooters (Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi).
The FBI knew in advance of the Parkland High School shooter (Nikolas Cruz).
The FBI knew in advance of the Fort Hood shooter (Nidal Hasan); and now the FBI knew in advance of Ahmad al-Aliwi Alissa.

Indeed. How a writer supposedly very familiar with guns writing for "Ammoland" could make that mistake is a bit baffling. It's the sort of ignorant mistake you'd expect from a reporterette at the local TV news who fired a guy once three years ago while doing a "What's the matter with Kansas" type of story.
