Conservatives would rather complain

Than actually develop a technological and artistic counterculture:

The culture leans sharply left, and in our current, highly-polarized political climate that means conservatives in the arts tend to be treated as outsiders at best and pariahs at worst. Listen to the personal experiences of conservatives in Hollywood, for example, whether “above the line” (the stars, producers and directors) or below it (the rest of the crew), and you will understand why most keep their politics in the closet to avoid bad vibes, ostracism, and/or outright hostility. The left, of course, dismisses complaints of blacklisting and bias as paranoid whining, but they are very real indeed.

The publishing world is not exempt from this state of affairs. When conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s new book The Big Lie: Exposing the Nazi Roots of the American Left appeared at Number seven on The New York Times bestseller list, despite actually having outsold all fourteen of its competitors on the list, D’Souza called out the Times on Twitter: “In what alternative universe do Jeff Flake’s 7,383 book sales for this week (BookScan data) top mine at 11,651? Thanks @nytimes fake list!”

This was far from the first time conservative authors had called foul about their books’ rankings on the Times’ all-important bestseller list. Cortney O’Brien at Townhall pointed to another noteworthy recent example: Gosnell: The Untold Story of America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer, by co-author couple Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney. A horrifying exposé of the dark(er) side of the abortion industry, the top-selling Amazon release was perceived by some as an attack on the left’s sacred cow of abortion rights. The New York Times did have the book at Number 13 on its “Combined Print & E-Book Nonfiction” list, but did not place Gosnell at its deserved Number four slot among bestselling nonfiction titles.

“It’s not only an insult to the people who have bought this book,” McElhinney said “but an insult to the readers of the New York Times who buy the newspaper and think they are getting the truth about book sales across America but instead get false facts disguised as a neutral list.”

A Times spokesman insisted that the “political views of authors have no bearing on our rankings, and the notion that we would manipulate the lists to exclude books for political reasons is simply ludicrous.”

Ludicrous? The Times says its list is based on “surveys” of “a wide range of retailers who provide us with specific and confidential context of their sales each week. These standards are applied consistently, across the board in order to provide Times readers our best assessment of what books are the most broadly popular at that time.”

Notice how there is not a single mention of any writer, musician, artist, or publishing company that doesn't subsist on parasitizing the Left in this conservative call for conservatives to "create great art, and secondly, create alternative distribution channels to disseminate it". No mention of Chuck Dixon. No mention of Owen Stanley. No mention of Castalia, Arkhaven, or UATV. Conservative culture consists of nothing but talking about how bad the Left is; it is a literally negative culture.

Now, perhaps the author just hasn't heard of any of those people and organizations who are already doing what he is calling for. But from what I've seen over the last five years, conservatives would rather cry about being prevented from editing Wikipedia than edit Infogalactic. They'd rather complain about Neil Gaiman than read John C. Wright. And they'd rather criticize the Devil Mouse's demolition of Star Wars than invest in making alternatives.

So, we'll just keep working, and building, and publishing great stories about the Good, the Beautiful, and the True until the day that conservatives start complaining about how we aren't listening to their very helpful advice.

Conservatives still think arguments trump power. Whereas the left don't even care about arguments anymore because they have obviously consolidated their power to the point where they can force you to do anything they want or face being unpersoned.

Mock or ignore. Those are the only two options.

The Desert Fathers pretty much recommend the same when dealing with demons. Mock, ignore, or confront them with Scripture and Truth. Do not engage with them on any level in any way.

Larry Taunton, Fixed Point Foundation, talks of getting red-pilled. It's not Dark Lord worldview just yet.

Q: It seems to me that your tone has changed over the years. You have become much more polemical in your writing and speaking. Why?

Taunton: I feel a great sense of urgency these days as God’s people are attacked, a wicked agenda is enacted, and the greatest country in the world is being destroyed from within. I do not feel friendly or gentle toward people who think the slaughter of innocents is not a big deal; who think the sexualization of children is a noble cause; who couldn’t care less for the common people of this country (and others) whose lives have been destroyed in idiotic lockdowns; who rig elections, burn businesses, incite violence, and distort the truth in their reporting of such events. So, yes, my tone has changed.

Finally, I have been the target of numerous (and very personal) media smears. I have been attacked by The Atlantic, The Guardian, The Independent, BBC, The New Yorker, and a plethora of others. The first time this happened to me, I was naïve enough to think that truth mattered to them. I would, I thought, have a reasonable discussion with these outlets and they would retract their stories. You soon discover that truth is irrelevant to these people. That changes you.

We've frequently seen this, which is part of why we don't chase new clients except for occasional, broad notifications that we're accepting new clients subject to our limits.

The process looks like this: Make product on competing but woke major service-->get deplatformed by the woke-->complain-->go to another major service equally riddled with SJWs-->lather, rinse, repeat. Occasionally we'll get an enquiry email somewhere in that repetitive process, but because we do require slightly more effort to get started up than a drag-and-drop merchandiser, it's a small barrier to entry.

We take longer than the competition, sure, and our interfaces aren't as pretty, but our products are better and we stand by them.

Some of our clients have been building their own platforms in such a way that our services are no longer needed for particular projects, but may keep us on board for other projects; others move on entirely but we always remain on friendly and supportive terms. That's no skin off our noses; I'd rather see thriving competitors than see conservatives making profits for the SJWs who hate them.

Ineffectiveness baked into the cake is deliberate effective sabotage by our enemies.

By providing us with fake leadership who is completely controlled opposition they are able to neutralize their opposition by rendering them ineffectual by providing ineffectuality as examples to be imitated because they look like our leaders.

Because we end up imitating Alphas of the Group. They provide the fake Alphas.

when the left says that conservatives are whiners, maybe there is some truth to that. it is true coz they will only complain but won't do anything about it. they would much cry out the New York Times didn't put them on the right spot than create a "Conservative Times" or something like that.
There is really great opportunities out there - its just that the right's gatekeepers are whiners.

One of the biggest problems that a proper conservative artistic counter-movement would face is that the Right in America is still based heavily on Cultural Calvinism, with its immense hostility to the arts and beauty, so personality styles attracted to the Right in America are, on average, more philistine than the average person, greatly limiting the amount of quality art that could be created. That's one thing that needs to be addressed, Calvinism delenda est, for art's sake.

I'll add that one of the more irksome things about FNC's evening programming is how much time they spend talking about what the OTHER "news" programs are saying.

One more point: Vox has been talking about the intellectual incoherency of "Conservatism" for a while. Buckley and his successors defined it in a negative sense, as opposition to Something Else. When that Something Else faltered, or was able to slip the punch through rebranding, Buckleyite Conservatism failed. It had lost its intellectual prop.

A Reform Conservatism ("National Libertarian", "Reform Conservatism", even "Whig") is needed. With internal principles. Trump pointed the way, but I find myself agreeing with Larry Schweikart that Trump is a William Wallace or John the Baptist - a herald of greater and ultimately victorious leader to come.

That sums it up nicely. Note that it's a 2017 article (things have gotten far worse since). The NY Times and anything associated with it have been disreputable since the days of Walter Duranty (1930s) and Mark Tapson is beginning to notice this in 2017. Note how he still refers to the "... books’ rankings on the Times’ all-important bestseller list". How is it that a fake list is "all-important"?

Is there a term for the idea of locking a basically stupid and illogical or vastly improbable idea into a series of intellectual verbal puzzles based on flawed logic, so that by resolving the puzzles to explain the idea, the basic idea itself seems rational due to being tied to your own intellectual arrogance at having 'penetrated' the verbiage to uncover the 'truth'?

I know Atheism and liberalism arguments are both littered with these psychological exercises in order to increase their believability among a certain set of over-educated midwits, but is there a term that describes the process itself, other than propositional logic?

I know people like Dawkins, Shapiro, and Jilette are fond of using this technique, but I am not sure if there is an actual term for it.

Conservatives who are not purposely working as controlled opposition nor grifters complain because they still want to be part of the system. They have not the confidence, self-reliance, and principles to effectively oppose The Beast - they want their own niche within it. They are stomping their feet and crying, trying to be accepted - a feminine characteristic. Telling them to go to hell and walking away would be the masculine way.

Conservatives will never walk away because they are needy, weak, losers defined by the system that hates them. Both content creators and content consumers will never support alternative platforms for that same reason. They would be missing out on all the offerings of the mighty Beast that fills the empty vessels of their very being. It is a spiritual battle on every level.

This is an astute observation. Conservatives create no culture, material or memetic. They are like domestic neoliberals that just operate on the other side of the divide and conquer hegemonic syllogism to the New Left. In short, they're in bed with the New Left and act as advertisers for New Left products (like the NYT). Hot take after hot take they just signal boost New Left products while pretending their so-called critiques are cultural artifacts. They are giving bandwidth to the enemy by republishing their work. This is evidenced by their refusal to name/signal boost right wing creators. The sooner these neoclown lowlives are outed, the better.
