Convicted in the court of Nike

Deshaun Watson is done:

Tuesday’s press conference caused many to view the ongoing controversy involving Deshaun Watson differently. Among the many now viewing the situation differently, apparently, is Nike.

Via CNBC.com, the sports apparel giant has suspended its endorsement deal with Watson.

“We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and have suspended Deshaun Watson. We will continue to closely monitor the situation,” Nike said in a statement.

It's simply astonishing how people, and organizations, think they can somehow bluster their way through things when they know, beyond any shadow of a doubt, what the other side knows about them.

This isn't actually about an NFL quarterback....

You're dare straight on that Vox. It's about a sainted diversity hire and symbol of our brave, brave strength. Thug lives matter, baby!

It only took 22 allegations to deeply disturb Nike. Very courageous stand!

People think money is wealth. It is not, even though people are deliberately conditioned to think it is. That which you can (and may actually want to) buy with money, and that which you can't even buy with money (whether or not you realise you should want it) is wealth.

Funny how a Black Life Mattered when all he did was rape sexless Asians, but as soon as the teevee decided it was time to Believe Women, Team Kaepernick decided to unperson the now-privileged rich man who committed the crime of trying to pass as white.

He should have kneeled.

Blogger Azimus April 07, 2021 2:33 PM

Did anyone file a criminal complaint? If they didn't, it could all be phoney. It took the Democrats, what, a few days to find 4-5 psychopath women to lie about justice Kavanaugh? If you've got all the Time in the world to plan, 20, 30 even 100 wouldn't be too hard to scare up.

I just wonder what changed nike minds? They sell satan shoes, with human blood. Oh, sure, they seem to back out of that if it seems more of an added boost to news stories than a real surrender on the issue. Perhaps that is what they are doing here? Most sports guys don't seem to care about their favorite horse getting mares on the side, one way or another. Part of the game, from what I have heard. And no one trusts women who get involved with these rich thugs. I don't.

Though, I really wonder what he did to get this going? Most athletes seem to work this sort of gig. Few are ever punished. Whatever. In the end, it won't even matter for sports. It'll probably be better for them, as long as he doesn't go to prison? Nike will get a boost too, somehow?

Not my gig, one way or the other. The women are as bad as the men, in their own ways. The corporations and the individuals are equally in it up to their necks. Why don't most companies not only get away from "don't be evil" to "do as though will". Speak as you live, I guess.

Yes, at least some of them filed police reports.

The bigger issue is China's management of Nike. They have a double-edged African problem with regards to their control of professional sports, particularly basketball.

On the one hand, they need a supply of well-paid marketing servants in the form of black athletes. On the other, they really, really, really hate black men and want to make sure they don't even think about trying to molest their women or corrupt their race.

Blogger Gon Freecs April 07, 2021 3:08 PM

Suspend...yup, that shows real concern

Blogger Daniel April 07, 2021 3:11 PM

That is a ridiculously wrong question, Azimus. You aren't following.

When it was 20+ allegations (and growing), Nike was still feeding the "Innocent until proven guilty" canard to its television opinion Narrative, because Black can't be criminal, even though white hero Curt Schilling was cast out without even a kangaroo court because of white thoughts. After criminal investigations commenced, Nike had nothing to say. Once live women began to broadcast their personal stories in line with #metoo, suddenly the tide reversed.

At the basic level, this is about victim rank, but behind the scenes, this is about Chinese intelligence operations via the American media.

Don't go face value on this one - there is nothing comprehensible at face value.

Watson made $8m in endorsements last year. Both Nike & Beats by Dr. Dre just finally sacked him after the 22nd abuse victim surfaced.

For most companies, a key seven-figure celebrity endorsement could be expected to increase revenue by as much as 2-3%.

For Nike, with gross revenues on order of about $37,400,000,000.00, concern about DeShaun Watson registers somewhere between 12,347th and 12,400th most important issues facing the company.

The decision to release commemorative 30th Anniversary 1991 or 20th Anniversary 2001 Air Jordan’s weighs a hundred times higher than thought they gave to sacking Watson.

They only reason it took so long is sheer size of Nike’s bureaucracy. Licensing had to talk to HR and back, and here we finally are.

Blogger Brian D. Kennedy April 07, 2021 4:02 PM

This story almost encourages me to view the press conference. NIKE knew the allegations already, so how bad was it? "I didn't do anything to those women. Those ballots in Georgia, on the other hand ..."

Blogger Greg from the Piedmont April 07, 2021 4:09 PM

Him being from my home town and knowing his family and mentors, this is hitting them hard. If he did what he is accused of, I would hope that this is a case of him betraying trust rather than being protected and enabled. If he was betraying trust, he wouldn't be the first to do it. If he was protected and enabled to do these things when he was younger and he just did the same as a NFL QB...

Nauseating, and the shine would be off of some people I respected for years.

It could be fake with or without criminal complaints. But there's no apparent reason why the forces of darkness would fake this. If this were some privately organized shakedown, you can bet that the corpocracy would use every resource available to expose it and protect one of their high profile ticket takers.

Blogger J8ke D April 07, 2021 5:45 PM

Excellent point, Azimus. I am wondering the same thing.

The amount and frequency of the “incidents” are raising a red flag, aside from the filthy lawyer who is instigating all of these complaints - perhaps he was tired of chasing ambulances?

I’d say “let’s see what the courts do”, but I have zero faith in our current judicial system to adjudicate even an accidental amount of justice.

Don't go face value on this one - there is nothing comprehensible at face value.

"Nothing comprehensible"? A black male who thinks the world owes him everything gropes women who believe otherwise. This is a daily occurrence, the rare part is a famous athlete getting called on this sort of behavior.

If you've got all the Time in the world to plan, 20, 30 even 100 wouldn't be too hard to scare up.

And even less time to scare up some to say "he dindu nuffin'':"Hardin on Wednesday released statements from 18 women who say that they have worked with the Texans quarterback and that he "never made them feel uncomfortable or demanded anything outside the scope of a professional massage.""

As for the fact that the accusers are asking for money, what exactly are they supposed to do? Do you really believe the Houston PD was going to go ham on this investigation, even now? Since when did filing a criminal complaint become a marker of truth? Jussie Smollett filed one, after all.

That is a ridiculously wrong question, Azimus. You aren't following.

My interest was narrow - if someone filed a police report, it is credible due to the criminality of filing a false one. My concern was not for the obvious and tiresome double standard of what passes for "society" today, or the corporate fags and their jaded strategies for increasing/sustaining revenue.

You make good points. My point was also "nothing is necessarily as it seems", but from the perspective of a trophy wife that wants maximum dollar value for a divorce, or the Texans wanting to get out of his contract by creating contraversy, etc etc etc. But the filing of a police report actually rises to the level of attention-worthy.

At Eastern Michigan University, 22 women said they were attacked by one guy and the U did nothing. The pic of the guy finally came out after the media up covering for months.

Strangely, he was the same race as the last rapist/murderer the University covered up for, to the extent the prosecutor had to take the investigation away from their U police to have it solved.

The prosecutor was replaced with a more true believer in DIE, who now declines to charge blacks with crimes because slavery.
