Death by a thousand cancels

Spotify is slowly chipping away at Joe Rogan's podcast library:

Months after random, woke, and easily replaceable Spotify employees threatened to strike until Joe Rogan is censored, the podcast service quietly removed 42 — 42! — “controversial” episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience.

According to Digital Music News, which first noticed the removals, Spotify took down a recent episode with Dave Asprey, the founder of Bulletproof Coffee, who claims he will live to 180. I’m not sure if Asprey will make it to 180, but fans of JRE won’t get to hear his case anymore.

Other recently canceled episodes include interviews with Brian Redban, seven episodes with David Seaman, four episodes with comedian Chris D’Elia, Gavin McInnes, Milo Yiannopoulous, and Eddie Bravo.

Taking the ticket will reliably result in regret of one sort or another.

Rogan married a coal burning single mother. Total loser.

They didn't pay him to help his show. They paid him to retire his show.

Was the ticket worth it, Joe? Was it really worth the cost?

Funny how they leave St. Efan off the list of banned shows, despite those episodes being some of the highest view-count episodes of the backlog.

Blogger Silly but True April 10, 2021 1:29 PM

Joe signed his $100m contract with Spotify knowing they would not maintain some episodes. So technically each one they erase increases the value of his remainders they keep.

Blogger Doktor Jeep April 10, 2021 1:34 PM

Wasn't Toe Rogain in the "eaten last" category? Or maybe that is exactly what's happening now?

Also, these are podcasts. Aren't those comparably small files easily downloaded? I remember podcasts being a big deal before video streaming like YooTube. Like just about anybody could do it. I didn't know that too was centralized.
When is the lesson going to be learned that centralization on a few platforms, free or not, is going to end up like this? Libertarians might have had something to say about the dangerous pattern of centralization if they did not degenerate into weed LMAO and a suicidal adherence to "muh private corporations" and the NAP. So much for that. But the term "all of your eggs in one basket" is as old as the chicken and the egg too.
What am I missing? Or is this just laziness?

We all saw this coming when he signed the Spotify deal. The hellmouth midwit with decent interviewing skills has sold out and has begun the process of losing his ability to perform his core function. A great deal of his popularity came from interviewing the guests everyone else was afraid to have on, and now he is reduced to "edgy" guests such as Dan "deep state" Crenshaw.

@1. Given his predilection for drugs, marrying a single mother doesn't seem that far off. Also heard that they'd lived in Colorado or Idaho before then SHE made them move to California because she wished it.

. . .

Joe, I hope your payment was worth it for your integrity.

He would have been better served to just tell his audience, "I took the ticket and look where it got me! Sell out and make millions! It's just that easy!"

But I suppose they don't want it to be too obvious?

Blogger FUBARwest April 10, 2021 2:52 PM

$100 million was Joe's price. He knew what he was doing when he took the money. Whether or not his followers are smart enough to realize what happened is the question.

Joe Rogan just moved to that little town that shuns tattooed people. They have a way of routing around the Calis that show up and behave Cali.

Who knows? Alex Jones lives nearby. He can learn from the big one what deplatforming feels like, maybe, eventually.

I don't understand why they are taking down some of these podcasts. Usually the SJW brigade takes down stuff that touches on race and other social controversies. The Dave Asprey one is a medical self-help (DIY). I don't understand how it can be controversial in a political context.

Blogger SerbBear April 10, 2021 4:11 PM

You might say Spotify just clipped their toe nail way too short.

Blogger John Atria April 10, 2021 4:14 PM

I would only tune into Rogan if he had an interesting guest on. The stoner shtick gets old fast. He's not too bad as an interviewer, but doesn't standout as being particularly insightful either.

It's too bad, before the Spotify deal he had enough name recognition to go his own way. Now I think he's too compromised for that to be a viable option.

Blogger Randomatos April 10, 2021 4:29 PM

@kurt9 Medical self-help might undermine the Faucis and Gates of the world.

Somewhat off context: Alabama ended the state mask mandate yesterday, I understand. Today I had need of visiting Best Buy in Trusville, AL. Had a computer with me, I purchased from BB and needed to talk with the geek squad about it. The guards were virgorously requiring masks. I pointed out to them the mandate was over. They pointed out to me they were a private business and would continue to require masks. Would not let me in the store without one. I pointed out to them that they had lost a regular customer forever and walked out. And, they did lose a good customer forever. I wonder if it was just that one store or the whole bunch of them. Would love to know how many customers they will have lost by monday.

Simple. If you encourage people to think for themselves about their health, then they might be less trusting of establishment medicine and appointed "experts" and "scientists" like Fauci who we're supposed to mindlessly obey.

There's an old interview never posted by Joe, where he is on Jan Irvin's show. This is over a decade ago as Irvin introduced him to psychedelics (Irvin now calls them "Suggestogens"), when he was less famous. Joe talks about his book - "Unqualified Advice from a Man with No Credibility" or something. It's not like he claimed to ever be anything else than a comedian and a man-love-grind tv commentator.

Irvin has since gone to the roots of the psychedelic revolution in the 50s and pinpointed the CIA involvement, MK-Ultra "Subproject 57" being basically the entirety of the effort - that is the subtle mind control of the masses and not some mumbo jumbo assassin nonsense - a limited hangout which was gobbled up by us peons in the 1970s. So they weren't friends for much longer after that episode of Irvin's aired. Irvin appeared on the JRE show but he was interrupted for dick jokes and insulted for being 'wrong.' That's about the end of Rogan's legitimacy as any kind of beacon of light, as far as I'm concerned.

But that's not to say he hasn't done anything useful. Joe Rogan went a long way to legitimizing the podcast as a form of entertainment. He mainstreamed it, and introduced me to things like the mechanisms behind comedy. Lots of comedians have been on his show and there's sort of a revolution going on there where they are starting to skip the jew. They use websites, podcasts, youtube etc. to gather their own steam and don't need the "agent / marketing / management" (((layer))). Rogan doesn't identify that layer as such but it's clear as day what's happened over the run of his show. The influence peddlers have lost an entire entertainment vector - that damage is done no matter who Joe Rogan sells out to now.

I think of talented comedians stuck behind the old system of some magical jew bestowing the holy grail upon them - the sitcom and development deal. Richard Jeni ended up killing himself as he couldn't make that last step (used to host "Evening at the Improv" or "Caroline's Comedy Hour" on A%E, was in "The Mask."). If only he'd hung on a few years and built his own online profile, he wouldn't need that (((layer))).

Rogan did something worthwhile enough to be taken down - without even him knowing. Not bad for a guy with no credibility or qualifications.

Well then, fuck them! I disregarded the medical establishment long before even the whole "alt" right neo-reaction thing started. And I'm in far better shape than all of the idiots who followed the "system" as well.

In any case, I found Dave Aspry's website. There is some validity to what he is saying (autophagy), but most of what he's saying is rubbish.

I think the only regret Joe Rogan has is that he has but one anus to give to his master. He will continue to toe (hahaha) the line because he is totally owned.

a - how else was Toe Rogaine going to make 100 million?
b - he is the content creator, regardless of whether or not he has retained copies of his show, he can always make more.

and really, does he care at this point? Stoners gonna get stoned.

Blogger RedJack April 10, 2021 8:59 PM

Joe is one of my commute listens.

I have noticed he gets rather upset now when things go a certain way. When Eric Weinstein started talking about how the H1B stuff started, Joe got rather agitated.

He sold out, and got a good price, but I have a feeling eventually he will burn it. He has a history of blowing up the game rather than playing.

That's a calculation as moronic and deceiving as "market capitalization" (shares issued * current closing price).

Blogger BeatYourHeadIn April 11, 2021 1:14 PM

Back before Vox's Dark Stream beat some sense into my thick skull, I remember watching the Shapiru Sunday Special with Rogan.

They talked about how Joe could produce whatever content he wanted because he had quote/unquote "F. You Money" according to Ben. So much for that!

Those two Babylonians turned out to be a couple of gatekeepers playing hot potato with the Woke grenade.
