There will be no due process

In which we are reliably informed that due process is not an aspect of good leadership:

The Brooklyn Center City Manager, Curt Boganey, has been fired after he publicly disagreed with Mayor Mike Elliott's assertion that the police officer who fatally shot a black man in the Minneapolis suburb should immediately be fired.

As City Manager, Boganey controlled the police department.

Speaking earlier to reporters, he said the officer who shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright would get 'due process' after the shooting.

'All employees working for the city of Brooklyn Center are entitled to due process with respect to discipline,' he said.

But the mayor, unhappy at the public disagreement quickly took the police department under his control and the Brooklyn Center City Council voted to fire Boganey, a longtime city employee, during an emergency meeting.

'Effective immediately our city manager has been relieved of his duties, and the deputy city manager will be assuming his duties moving forward,' Elliott wrote on Twitter. 'I will continue to work my hardest to ensure good leadership at all levels of our city government.'

For the vast majority of you who are not familiar with the Twin Cities, Brooklyn Center is an inner ring suburb of Minneapolis that has always had a noticeable African population, although it is still majority white. I'm very familiar with it because Brooklyn Center was in the Tri-Metro Conference with my high school back then, so I ran track against their sprinters on a regular basis.

If I recall correctly, when I won the 100-meter at the conference championship my senior year, the second-, third-, and fourth-place finishers were all from Brooklyn Center. Unsurprisingly, they took the 4x100 relay that year. I still remember my main rival from BC, a short, powerful guy named Simmy, who had a rocket start. It was intimidating, but I soon learned that as long as I wasn't more than two steps behind once I was fully up, I'd catch him at the 50-meter mark.

Fortunately, thanks to three decades of anti-racist indoctrination since then, the Africans there no longer see color. It's like seeing Martin Luther King's dream come true!

All things aside, an officer that pulls a gun when going for a taser should be fired immediately and probably prosecuted. She had no business being an officer. As for the city manager, I wouldn’t want him in public office in my area if he would defend the indefensible.

Blogger Angantyr April 13, 2021 12:14 PM

Granted that the diversity hire cop should be fired for simple incompetence, the mayor should be drawn and quartered for firing the city manager. Seems to me that if there were mass hangings of mayors and their city councils in the Twin Cities and surrounding 'burbs there would be a change for the better in terms of "leadership".

I have been around black professionals and politicians for years. Many of them have an average level of intelligence, as far as I can tell, about 100 (unlike the poor/working class ones).

That said, they have much different concepts of due process, fairness, and even cause and effect.

At times it is like trying to explain contract interpretation to your dog. Even when they want to listen, they can't understand. Abstract thought and think about the future are just not their things.

Blogger The Last Roman April 13, 2021 12:24 PM

Too bad that we don't have any leaders worth their salt. Of course, such a situation can only last so long. The system will crash, and there will be mass lynchings of public officials.

Simmy? Did he have a clean cut well spoken buddy named hakeem? I didn’t know there was a large Zamundan in population in Minneapolis

The mayor is an imbecile. Firing union employees without due process is begging for the city to be sued. Considering that they are going to pay out for this newest Dindu chimping out and getting shot dead by the retard broad, the mayor should be thinking of payouts.

Oh wait... a second, what color is this mayor? Lemme go check....

Back now. Scratch that. The idea of "consequences" is obviously a bridge too far.

Are you the sort of person who claims that due process should not be accorded to some people even before an investigation?

There has been at least one other case where a female police officer, who was a twofer, also shot a person when she thought she was using a taser. That happened in CA and never made it into the news because the officer and the victim were both Hispanic. Then there was the Oscar Grant shooting, and some police departments have changed their training WRT tasers to reduce the possibility of that happening.

Maybe the Brooklyn Center PD is at fault here more than the officer for failing to adhere to the best practices with respect to where tasers are located on officers persons and failing to train them to distinguish between the two in high stress situations.

Overall just hold cops accountable for the same mistakes we could make. If anybody posting here made this kind of error we would be looking at jail time.

When it comes to matters like this, I have no dog in the fight anyway. I dont go boomercon-mode and brainlessly "back the blue" just because leftists want to defund them. Cops have been henchmen for globalists and corrupt politicians for generations now. It never ends well.
They usually end up killing people who also live their lives in such manner that it could be expected is not going to end well either.

Speaking of authorities making arbitrary decisions without evidence, I setting aside money for an AR pistol and some extended magazines while they're still obtainable, and I could use some advice.

I've been looking at things like the FM 5" 9mm AR with Glock magwell and the translucent ETS 9mm 31-round mag, but I'm painfully aware that I'm an ignorant novice in this regard.

For example (as if you needed one), the pistol brace seems extraneous to me because I'm most comfortable I'm Weaver stance. But I assume that there are more reasons for it beyond the highly compelling "skirts regs bwahaha".

I don't see it as defending the indefensible (which it is, of course) There simply is process that needs to be followed. In this case, however, if the end result was anything other than being fired THEN I would agree completely with you.

Due process would be nice but the city manager was more than likely just slightly less woke than the mayor. They are inevitably going to start eating their own. As for the cop, Sam Hyde said it best, "I would rather face ED 209 than a female cop". She shouldn't have been there in the first place.

As a fellow Minnesotan, I tend to gauge how much "diversity" exists in a given community by whether they continue to field youth hockey programs. Until the early 80's, teams from the Mpls and St. Paul metro (Mpls Southwest, St. Paul Johnson, St. Paul Harding) and first ring suburbs (South St. Paul) would field powerful high school hockey teams. In the late 80's you started seeing inner city schools consolidate their programs (i.e., Mpls North-Henry, Mpls South-Roosevelt, St. Paul Central/Highland). Now today the entire city of Mpls public school system is consolidated into one team. St. Paul has two (Johnson & Highland). Neither are competitive. South St. Paul is terrible too.

Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Park Center, Fridley, Columbia Heights....all gave up their programs a long time ago. Even former suburban powers such as Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson, while they still exist, are not competitive in the least.

The only schools consistently competitive? Private schools and rich communities like Edina, Eden Prairie and Lakeville.

I don't recommend ETS magazines. They flex when fully loaded. This may create feeding issues down the line.

Only buy Glock OEM magazines. These are steel, lined with polymer. Very high quality, very durable, and they will not flex.

A fully loaded Glock magazine will eject from the magwell easily. The ETS only comes out partially and needs to be pulled from the magwell. That is not a good sign.

You might consider this brand for AR pistol:

Blogger Bobbicus April 13, 2021 3:41 PM

If you're not going to use the brace, just get a pistol. The benefit of a pistol caliber carbine is that you have more points of contact and a more ergonomic platform.

Also it's less "lol skirt regs" and more malicious compliance with asinine laws. "You can't have a short rifle!" "Ok, this is a pistol"

Any AR pistol is not going to be very comfortable in the weaver stance in my opinion.
My experience with the ETS glock mags has not been positive. The springs in the ones I have used are not high quality and I generally get 1 or 2 fail to feeds in the ar pistol. Factory glock mags are the way to go if you're going AR-9 pistol. Just my two cents.

Blogger Dorsal Spine April 13, 2021 4:26 PM

If you are going to shoot 9mm either use a pistol or an AR or similar carbine in 9mm. An AR pistol in 9mm is the worst of both worlds. I only use Glock OEM magazines in my pistols and my Kel-Tec carbine.

I never spare empathy for women in law enforcement who meet grim ends. They're physically outclassed by even the most feeble male criminals, have no real business in the field, are inclined to be emotion in tense situations, and generally put everyone around them at risk.

Firing cops tends to be the norm with the leftoid politicians, but I didn't expect the firing of the former Brooklyn Center City Manager, Curt Boganey. From the photos the search on the name deliver, he appears to be black, as is the current Mayor, Mike Elliott. I'm curious if Mr. Boganey wasn't willing to tow an ideological line and it was decided he had to go.

Home defense should be a revolver and a lever action 30/30. Hard to call you a white supreme militia when you shot the three diverse breaking in, with a deer rifle.

Set aside in a safe should be a Ruger 577 pistol with the huge mags, and a PSA 16" barrel AR in 5.56, both for after the end of law enforcement.

Blogger bobby April 13, 2021 6:31 PM

Forget the idea of the AR pistol. You lose far too much of the power with the short barrel, they're much harder to carry and store, they cost too much, the ammo is much more expensive than 9mm, they're louder than hell . . .

Just not worth the hassle. Buy a nice cheap 9mm semi-auto pistol and several spare mags and practice. The only real excuse to buy an AR pistol is to brag that you have an AR pistol, and when you do so, the real gun people just shake their heads.

I may be mistaken, but I felt the shooting was justified. The criminal was Wanted, tried to escape police custody, and potentially posed a threat to both the police and the public at large. Shooting him in the face also sends the right kind of message regarding that type of behavior.

I was also wondering: Collapse vs Dissipation

It seems that, in a world with endless third world manufacturing, AI and robotics - even farming can be and is mostly automated, how can a hard (quick) collapse even happen?

Across my life, all I have known is Ws to lower their standards and try to be more accommodating to the foreign elites ruling over them. You know, get an extra crumb here and there, maybe. A pat on the head.

If the end goal were to be a hard-reset: Then I think it's worth considering some-form-of-Communism. Aside from a COVID genocide, it seems Mass Starvation would be the best bet for saving Western Civilization from disappearing forever. AND the later has a proven track record of creating eugenic civilizations.

But TBH I don't see The Starving Times happening. Ws will probably continue to lower their standards, be more accommodating, and invent a taster version of Soylent Green: Soylent White. I could see Ws happily jumping into a vat of acid if it helps those poor put-upon Bs. Many of them are THAT dysgenic now.

If you don't want to use the brace on a AR pistol just stick with a regular handgun. Glock, Sig, and FN all offer pistols that will hold magazines of 20+ rounds. Stick with manufacturer branded magazines. I have heard nothing but bad about the Korean 33rd Glock mags.
If you are willing to use a brace, the Freedom Ordnance FX-9 is a decent gun. You can get it with 4" or 8" barrels. I bought an 8" barrel model for my 16 year old daughter. She is tall and skinny and the "pistol" is just the right size for her to handle. The Ruger PC9 Charger is another large pistol that works better with a brace. If you want to steer away from the brace option, the Ruger PC9 Carbine is a nice little rifle. You can set it up to use Ruger or Glock mags.

At this point in time, you are going to be limited by what you can find and you will be paying a premium for what you buy. If you have a Rural King near by, check out RK Guns. They have had the Glock, Sig, and FN pistols in stock. Rifles sell out quick.

From Wikipedia on Brooklyn Center. Note the trend. I have no quantitative idea what the 2020 census will reveal.

2000 Census 71.39% White, 14.09% African American , 0.87% Native American, 8.79% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.49% from other races, and 3.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.82% of the population....13.4% had a female householder with no husband present

2010 Census 49.1% White, 25.9% African American, 0.8% Native American, 14.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 5.4% from other races, and 4.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.6% of the population....18.1% had a female householder with no husband present

I thought Brookdale Center mall was vacant. Nope. It was demolished and Shingle Creek Crossing built on the site, which was recently looted, of course.

The chick made a cascade of mistakes and the 'glock taser' was just the grand finale.

The male cop almost had the guy in handcuffs. She came over and both impeded the handcuffing (pulled the arm away) and as I heard it startled the kid shrieking about some warranty. The cop still could have had him, until he pulled back hearing about the taser (so he wouldn't get shocked).

The glock/taser thing is a fumble (and as someone mentioned, stupid to design it to feel anything like a gun). The stuff before was practically sabotage of a simple handcuffing.

I'd be willing to bet that this diversity hire bimbo probably treated her firearm like a soiled diaper, and did the absolute minimum annual training, thus lacking a good instinctive "feel" for her weapon. That, and the terminally stupid notion of making tasers shaped more or less like actual pistols... probably should make 'em more like Next Generation phasers - the "dust buster" variety. When buying guns, and when they are available, it's always good to get common guns in common calibers. The 9mm is very common. Glock magazines are very common. Glocks in general are good, common weapons.

Start with a 9mm, striker-fired pistol and work from there, practicing with different sizes of the Glock, Ruger and Smith and Wesson pistols. I personally think there is a tie between the Gen5 Glock 19 and the Smith and Wesson M&P.

https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/mp-m20-compact

https://us.glock.com/en/pistols/g19-gen5-fs-us

Probably the most perfect gun I've handled is the Glock 43X. There is an aftermarket company that makes 15-round magazines that fit flush in the handle like the OEM mag.

https://us.glock.com/en/pistols/g43x-us

KelTec makes a nice rifle to go with the Glock 9mm.

You're not wrong.

So whenever a perp jumps into a car or otherwise has their hands out of sight in their property during an arrest, the assumption has to be made that they are going for a weapon. There are quite a few videos you can find where that is the case, a couple ending up with dead cops who didn't have weapons drawn and ended up dying real fast. This would seemingly apply moreso in this case when there's an outstanding warrant for possession of an illegal weapon (or so I heard -- didn't investigate independently) and moreso given that the cops on the scene now know it (and the perp knows they know it, and responds by breaking free and jumping into his car).

There are reasonable arguments that a shoot was justified, but no reasonable arguments that the cop shouldn't have been fired (after following the appropriate, hopefully rather short, process, which would be absurd not to do when the shooter was a former union president and knows all the rules full well). She shot when she meant to taze, and by talking about an outstanding warrant in earshot of the perp she unnecessarily escalated the situation. That's rookie stuff, not 26 year veteran talk. Almost seems to me like it was 25 years as a desk jockey, ending with a year on the beat to pad out the top year's salary with lots of overtime (which is then the year used to determine lifetime annual pension). Some places have plugged that loophole, but it's the only reason I can come up with for such an amateur performance from a career police officer.

So many AR choices but Ruger , Springfield , Windham Weapons,Smith&Wesson make great off the shelf ARs Are you sure you want a AR pistol?? I recommend you get the standard 16" AR carbine which is legal now.... The AR pistols stand a good chance of being illegal ( thanks biden) soon...

@45 and @49

There's an old City Journal article about the cost of cleaning up (mostly white) chav / ghetto / rez culture in Pennsylvania. The (now) interesting thing about it as that the philanthropist was allowed to try to get the folks to straighten up and fly right. It wasn't de jure microagressing racist oppression.

So...

In West VA if you or your family is threatened by a white meth-head, and you fight back, do the authorities content themselves with confirming self-defense? Or do they go full Sainted Jogger on you?

If the former, you've got Whitopia (TM) 2021.

Very few women should be cops. Even more so for the military.

Not "very few". None at all.

Nothing wrong with a CZ Scorpion for a fun 9mm PCC that has good aftermarket support. If fancy is more your thing, check out a Kriss Vector or the civilian MP5 knockoffs. Just keep in mind that right now 9mm is more expensive than 7.62 and 5.56 in a ton of U.S. regions, which is utter lunacy.

The one key phrase here is going to be "unjust termination." Waiting for the lawsuits to file. Mayors like this had best not advocate for such knee-jerk reactions without due process, because some day it will be their heads in the noose.

City manager's firing was entirely legal and proper and won't lead to a lawsuit. He publicly disagreed with his boss right to the press at a time when his boss was frantically trying to calm down the natives from destroying the small city. You can fight properly to uphold due process - just don't do it by contradicting your boss in a press conference.

@map:
Also, look at this option as a quality, inexpensive pistol:

Thank you, I had already settled on the general line of S&P compacts as looking like they would fit my hands well, so I really appreciate that suggestion.
