A Balkan perspective
A survivor of the collapse of Yugoslavia offers a rather disturbing perspective of the current situation in the USA to Americans and Canadians.
Yugoslavia was a multi-ethnic country with worldwide influence and huge military might. It had a huge security apparatus and kept everyone in check by socialist/federal spending. As someone who experienced the collapse of Yugoslavia let me tell you Americans a couple of things.
- There are no white hats.
- Your country is collapsing because there is not enough money to keep the system working.
- Nobody has a plan, good or evil. Nobody is in control.
- All foreign powers are helping accelerate the collapse.
- Your country will be robbed before, during and after the war.
- The robbing starts with hyperinflation.
- There will be international “peacekeepers” on your territory.
- Do not try to change the internal state borders, it does not work.
- Ethnic cleansing actually works.
Personal advice:
- When the war starts, for a whole year, people will be in denial there is war going on. Some people will not believe it is war until they get personally shot.
- Never EVER surrender to enemy forces, even if they have your whole family hostage. You will simply be tortured to death with them.
- If you end up in concentration camp, the most important thing is to preserve your mind, not your body. There is no use for your body to escape if your mind stays inside forever.
- There will be no low-intensity conflict. Tanks and artillery will be used for a year, and people will still not believe it is war.
- Lots of people will surrender themselves and their family to the enemy, thinking they will be spared because they are non-combatants. MPAI is true even in war.
What rings alarmingly true about this is the reaction I've already seen in Minnesota to extreme public disturbances. As long as the violence, riots, and arson are happening at least ONE BLOCK away, then the human mind is entirely capable of dismissing it as something happening somewhere else to other people, and therefore of no genuine concern.

Probably best to pick good ground to fight on quickly as well. I moved to Appalachia after getting out of the Navy. I am currently working on being a good guest and fitting into the community. The biggest difference between Yugoslavia and USA is size, that can definitely be an advantage.

I have heard many idiots say that the anarchy in Portland is irrelevant, because it is "contained" to a small area downtown.
Likewise, most are in denial that hyperinflation and bare shelves at the supermarket are coming.

I think this is great advice. One difference I'd like to point out is the massive expanse of empty space in USA vs Eastern Europe. It's something to keep in mind and to use to your advantage depending on how close you are to metro areas. Those who are not forced to engage automatically win.

Ah crap, vd. And here I was all mellowed out today.
I read this book years ago called The Dark Secrets of SHTF Survival. It's a semi-autobiography about author’s, Selco Begovic, life during the Yugoslavian civil war. I highly recommend the book. What stuck out to me in the book are people's denial of the reality of the situation they find themselves in. In one passage the author wrote about as the country was falling apart, two individuals in the book had two different outlooks on what was actually occurring.
One of the individuals worked for the country's security service, did not know that disaster was just around the corner, and got caught up in the mess. The other guy was a criminal, knew what was about to happening, and got himself out of Dodge. So never doubt one’s capacity for denial, right to their bitter end. Especially if there is another rave to go to or some pointless sporting event to watch.
For many of us getting out of the country is not an option. I don’t believe there is really anywhere else in the world to go anymore. That’s why I believe Big Bear is right when he says have children and form communities. Learn skills and how to grow your own food. Be thankful for the blessing you have.
This is what worries me as a Anglo-Canadian because historians and religious academics from all spheres are comparing the former Yugoslavia to North America.
My wife says I'm itching for the fray which is true but I worry about her safety.

The Balkan problem is too complicated for foreigners to comprehend and even for the natives. This is a specific area of the world that through out history was a boiling point for many civilizations. The Romans had many rebellions in its history in this area and at the end the 17 or so emperors of the empire were from the same area. The Ottomans broke spears here, the Austrians and the Germans. First world war started in Bosnia and the end of American hegemony began with the bombing of Belgrade. We are old, and Americans are young. I think you still have that naive zeal that will give you more energy for fighting current evils than some older areas have. The point is that at the end of the day everything becomes the way it has to be. After 30 years since the Balkan wars we are much beter off without our "brothers" (Serbian writer). You as a young nation have to go through the growing pains and hopefully you will get your bearings back.
No doubt that if Americans don't see Saving Private Ryan playing out on their front lawn, many of them will deny there is a war.
No white hats should already be obvious. How many times do you have to get taken in by the hopium before you figure that out? (talking to no one in particular, but to somebody). Likewise, magic bullets and special places to shoot the death star to start a chain reaction that destroy it are for Hollywood, not for real life. In that same vein, things like audits, evidence, rule of law, courts, and truth matter only in contests of fair play between honorable gentlemen. Nowhere else.
I don't think the country is collapsing yet though. They appear to me to still, as of today, 6/27/2021, have the money to buy the power they need. For all the discontent and distrust of DC, it can maintain power as long as it can keep the money valuable and flowing, which today it is doing. I see no evidence to the contrary. Yet.
The powers that be are well aware foreign nations will not be eager to send "peacekeepers" here in any numbers. Thus the effort to ideologically conform the US military to that mission.
Speaking of which, if the US military captured me I would be about 80/20 confident that they wouldn't torture me to death. But not so confident that they would ever let me go.

From an internal realpolitik perspective, the situation in the US is similar to that of Yugoslavia. The collapse of Yugoslavia began when the old guard got old and Serbs were no longer an absolute majority. After Tito died, the Albanians started rioting and dissidents of all stripes (royalists, fascists, democrats...) took advantage of Reagan's push to end the Cold War. In 1985, the SANU memorandum was leaked. Written by a small number of intellectuals and not actually adopted by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, it spelled out the state of the country from the point of view of the Serbian majority. The overblown reaction to the memorandum reminds me of the Establishment's reaction to the so-called "Capitol riots". The minority nations of Yugoslavia had for decades held "Serbian chauvinism" as the biggest danger to brotherhood and unity, but as soon as a group of Serbs pointed out the hypocrisy they were declared a problem. Compare this to the situation that Whites find themselves in. Blacks can riot and sometimes even kill whites with impunity due to "white supremacy"; Whites are accused of rioting and killing even when not guilty.
However, there is a huge difference between the US and Yugoslavia in terms of external realpolitik. The US is an empire and too great a prize to allow a breakup. Countries are more than the sums of their parts and the US simply isn't worth it to the Establishment in any reasonably reduced form. They have nowhere else to go and will therefore fight to the death. Unlike Yugoslavia, it is winner take all. As early as 1991, the Serbs had made partition their aim. This is a strategic mistake when the enemy wants you eradicated. Luckily for the Serbs, the West did not want a strong Croatia but, for Americans, there is no one that will save America from extinction because no one is able to impose their will on the US.
Right now is the time to move if you live in a deep blue area.
We sold our home in Colorado (where we'd lived for almost 2 decades) and moved back to our city of origin in Kansas. One benefit is that the Californication of Colorado has driven real estate prices nuts so we made stupid profit on our home in CO and were able to buy a bigger and nicer home for cash in KS. Been only semi-employed for the last 3 years and can continue living like this comfortably forever now that we're mortgage free (and living where almost everything is cheaper), something we couldn't have done had we stayed in CO.
My wife is convinced that God has tucked us somewhere "safe" for the coming shit-show. Dunno about that for sure, but it is safer here than in East California (aka CO).
This was very interesting and insightful, and rings true with a Bosnian who worked with me and went through the war as a teenager, mostly as what he called a POW.
The only thing I would reply to this is that Slovenia had a plan, prepared, and when the time came executed it ruthlessly. In the end it saved more Slovenians and Yugoslav federal troops. It is interest to contrast the Bosnian experience w/the Slovenian experience.

One thing to watch for are billionaires bugging out, which has begun: Larry Ellison bugged out last year to his private Hawaiian island (Lanai). There is little doubt it has been fortified since he purchased it, and will continue to be fortified. From his press releases he has made the island his primary residence (Mahalo!) and I haven't seen any press releases about him making any appearances elsewhere.

The discounting of family over the last few generations, stuffing ourselves into cities and suburbs, moving away from extended family and so much more that ate away the underpinnings of culture. Until we are naked in more ways than one.

Cities are going to be hotspots, armed gangs are already there and only held at bay because they are paid off by their political allies. Suburbs may not be much better if the parents have let the teachers convert their kids into antifa zombies at the domestic disturbance training camps disguised as public schools. They were a presence here during the Floyd riots even though this is a lily-white area pretty far from the city.

The despised "fly over" country would indeed be the safest bet. A community of about 15,000 people in Kentucky, Tennessee, extreme North Georgia, West Virginia or the like would probably do okay. White majorities, mild climates and fertile soil and also difficult terrain in places. One thing that we have in the USA is extremely active State, County, and city governments that duplicate each other's functions. How often are you directly impacted by the Federal government? If you lived in one of these states, and the state government survived the Federal Government, you would probably be okay.

oh, and the other big lesson I remember is not to die for your storage of food and ammo and other things. More men than you or more than you have will come and take it. Puts a perspective on storing up enough to survive a year or two or three on what you can accumulate.
The big thing for me in this post is the ethnic cleansing works. The more I look at 4GW the more its clear that it's an ethnic cleansing problem. And the legitimacy of the state is an issue when the state puts its own interests above the nation. So the expectation of China to fall to civil war/4GW is a mistake. I expect there to be ethnic cleansing in my area if the British state breaks down, between the English and Scottish. As there was for centuries before the Union.
I also expect everything else the post said and have been seeing it and expecting it for years. People will stick their heads in the sand and live in denial. Rather than dealing with the issue of ethnic diversity and unprotected borders.

He said people in the capitol became used to stepping over the bodies on the sidewalks. People who were caught out after hours by either the military junta or the leftists and murdered.
I can only say I have already decided that what is offered by the author is correct. And, long ago, I decided most of that is just the way it is. The war is already happening. Has been for a while. I definitely think that would happen if the American voting base had let "please clap" win the GOP nomination in 2016... it would indicate that the voting base is irredemably cucked. Continuing to cuck to the left will get us all killed.

This is certsinly true, but I also genuinely wonder what goes on under the radar.
We had some issues at a mall in Tampa and hood rats being hoodrats within 30 minutes of whete I live. A few of my friends made sure to keep the police scanner on and sone of us did patrols of our neighborhoods and businesses just in case someone was feeling froggy enough to get closer.
It may be that Americans are simpkt a bunch of pussies, but it may be that many, like myself are not going to risk anything for what isn't our fight, but if it gets local....

The former Yugoslavia has been a battleground for tribal strife for thousands of years. There is no comparison to the US. At least not at this time. Our struggles in the US are more cultural than anything based on years of turmoil between warring factions. We never had Ottomans swarming into our lands and we aren't in a region with a History of warfare. America may balkanize one day but this negative Nancy shit seems to come more from a wishful thinking perspective than rational thought. One difference in the Serb/Croat/Bosnian mess is, they're a very de-religioned populace (during communism), and have pretty similar cultures when you boil it all down, and look alike. Now, a Yugoslav on here may counter this; but you don't have anywhere near the differences between Black and White in the US. I'm not sure I'd even peg a Serb and a Croat as varying as much as English/Irish/Italian, and certainly not varying more than Americans from their foreign ruling class.
Remember too, 'ethnic cleansing' was done just as much by the US. They picked an area that was majority (or desirably) one group, they'd kick the other out.
Though a separate matter to the Serb/Bosnian/Croat matter, Kosovo demonstrated once enough of the replacement population were moved in, the Serbs there were done.

If hyperinflation is the beginning of the theft, and I agree that it is, the problem is too much money, not too little. Inflation is too much many chasing too few goods and services, and this is worsened by the perverse incentives of "stimulus" money which continues to encourages indolence.

In 1990 I had a client, a rather unattractive and domineering middle-aged woman. She had married a man twenty or more years younger than her. He was a Yugoslavian and she told me that he had said that civil war was coming to Yugoslavia (which is presumably why he married her).
He was proven to be right, of course.
I have a couple family members that both sold their houses in Mpls at below market and moved to rural towns 150 plus miles away. Both are reliably liberal but they got it good and hard. I hope they left their voting habits in Mpls too. Maybe to much to ask.

And there is a big difference between Yugoslavia and the US. I was very much aware of the war because I lived in a war zone. What was incomprehensible to me at the beginning of the war was how my neighbor (whom I had known all my life, we greeted each other whenever we met, sometimes we talked) suddenly wanted to kill me.
I was 20 at the time and was trying to feed my mom and myself because my dad had died 3 years before and I didn’t care about politics. I also did not understand how a man could slaughter another human being. I understood to kill with a bullet, but that ordinary people turn into such demons that they go to slaughter other human beings is still the most frightening knowledge from that war.
Basically my advice is:
- Do not surrender your weapons at any cost
- Move to an area where most of your like-minded people are
- Never forget that as much as you know well a man with whom you get along in peace, even though you have different views on some things, he can turn into a monster when the war starts.

Paradoxically, I think the overall effect of the pandemic panic was to reassure people in their unpreparedness. The initial shortages on things like toilet paper did scare them, for a couple weeks. But then the shelves gradually filled back up. No one went hungry or had to wipe his ass with newspaper. So the lesson they learned in the end was that, even in a "global pandemic" situation, they're going to be fine, they might just want to keep an extra dozen rolls of toilet paper tucked away somewhere. The "new normal" just means sometimes they eat chicken instead of beef or vice versa when the store runs out of one. No big deal, right?

I completely agree with the poster. My dad, who was in Germany, was able to hatch a plan for my mom to escape then communist Czechoslovakia with me in tow. She managed this under conditions that would put a JJ Abrams movie to shame. We were refugees in Germany, then came to America to build a better life. The first few years were hard, but it made me the woman I am today. Years later, my grandfather would visit us in America from Slovakia. He always whispered when talking about politics or anything non-family related because he was used to someone always listening...and that was dangerous. Sound familiar? Alexa? Siri? Your iphone? etc... Back when CZ was invaded, as my mom, a young girl, watched Russian tanks roll through her village, she had no idea how her life would change forever! I've heard similar things from a former soldier from Bosnia as well (a "Kninja" guy - not a muslim) - he said heavy equipmet was deployed only where the minorities were, and also was telling me that ethnic cleansing works... So I guess you were living in a mixed area, hence this conclusion about the "no low-intensity conflict".

The term is originally cracking lingo as far as I know. A white hat would be a white hat by actions. You might crack into somewhere you aren't supposed to be, but then you back out and inform the owner about their vulnerability. That's a white hat, doing the right thing despite appearances.
For people that are by their description nothing more than their words though? You can find "advocates" and "proponents" everywhere who are parasitic on, or outright attempting to kill the people they are supposedly advocating for. If you're anything like me, that would be the vast majority of the people pretending to be your advocates and/or proponents.
So, no, I would not call an advocate or proponent a white hat. It's not even generally possible for us to have those due to their usual relation to MSM -- if they're really on our side they're silenced and no one can hear them, bye-bye proponency.
I think it did originate there, but of course hackers based their lingo on the fact that in old Westerns good guys tended to wear white and bad guys tended to wear black.
Good guys in Westerns were not advocates or proponents. They were fighters. They shot bad guys with guns.

You can choose what to do. But I see that as tautological. If something "has" to be, it will be. It's like the quip that what can't go on, won't go on. Of course it won't - it can't, by previous axiom.
You can change things that don't "have to be", but some things will of course be out of your power to do anything about. Best get comfortable with the idea.
